This entire website is built around forums with open discussions. Supposedly I guess..

When you have a conversation with others you are exchanging ideas and examples to get to the meat and potatoes of a subject. Anything else is nothing but a damn lie to push an agenda.

The most recent example is the sexual misconduct allegations against a Supreme Court nominee.
Any mention of other politicians accused of the same act is not a damn deflection.
The handling of past accusers is totally relevant.

There are many other examples from both sides of the isle. To many to list.

But dammit, can't we at least acknowledge the similarities in a reasonable discussion?
I am so fricken tired of the comment, "but, but, but, insert name here"
Sorry but trumps golf habits are on par, nyuk nyuk, with obamas...

When we put limits on our conversations the whole process of exchanging ideas falls apart.
We can talk about something and agree to disagree. That's an acceptable outcome.

I want a beer....

Rant over, carry on...

Are you saying comparing different past behaviors is acceptable or unacceptable?

I am having scotch. My understanding is about to go into the ditch.

When people say stop deflecting that usually means you won that argument.

Because they got nothing else.

Even your question is confusing....lol

Multiple politicians have been accused of sexual misconduct.
All of them have relevance to the current case.

Usually deflection is detected in the reply of "but, but, but..." followed by an example to buck up their opinion.

It's all an honest's day's work for the politically triggered; especially here at ATS.

Yes, bills too.

Remember what Hillary said about his accusers?

All are relevant. None are deflections.

Screaming "deflection" is just a lazy cop-out employed by the intellectually lazy to ignore the glaring hypocrisy and double standard that is probably staring them in the face.

There is nothing more annoying (and ironic) than a member trying to predict the "but, but..." within the first few comments.

How original and unpredictable.

Not.

Where are those accusers 2 years later?

If the left does pull a midterm victory out of their arses in Novenmber. I predict defeaning silence from Kavanugh's accusers.

Just like the deafening silence with CNN specials on a two bit hooker selling her book.

I'd like to clarify, if I may...

Because it's not always deflection... but sometimes it is deflection.

Few things in life are always or never.

There are a lot of closed minded people that don't even realize how closed minded they are.

Of course. Sometimes they really are trying to deflect a conversation.
I'm bitching about the people that cry foul about a totally relevant point.

There is no deflection whatsoever-oh look at that bird in the tree! *grabs coat and runs for the fire escape*

Sadly these days obfuscation and diversion is par for the course for most politicians.

from my point of view the biggest problem here on ats is the lack of empathy. there is so much hate and anger going around and sometimes it seems to me that it is more about personal frustration and disillusion and not about trying to make things better. we must talk to each other, discuss, listen and sometimes take a step back. let's keep talking.

Is this thread deflecting our attention away from another one?

What are your motives right now Bluntone22?
