Trump said tax cuts would bring $4 trillion back to America. Just 3.5 percent of that returned

I graduated from New Mexico State University. I was accepted to a number of higher profile tech schools, including Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, ASU, and Colorado... I ultimately chose to stay closer to home, as I could drive myself 60 miles each day to and from NMSU rather than moving across the country. I'm not going to get into a dick waving contest with you where intelligence, money, or whatnot are concerned because it's the internet... either of us could be lying out our asses and, ultimately, all either of us would do in such a contest is embarrass ourselves. Bottom line here, recognize the fact that there are people from all walks of life standing in support of this POTUS and his policies, with defensible reason, same as there are those standing against him and his policies. It's politics.

NMSU was ranked 198th in the national universities category and tied for 106th among public universities by U.S. News & World Report (USN&WR) in its 2018 rankings.[54] Also, in 2018, USN&WR ranked the College of Engineering's graduate program as tied for 145th, the Nursing School tied for 136th, and the College of Education's graduate program tied for 112th in the nation.[55]

Sounds like a decent school. Congrats on completing the program!

If I had a pile of money safely outside the country, I wouldn’t be eager to return it where I know half the governement wants to scoop it up the second Trump is out of office. Would you?

Isn't that tax evasion, or tax fraud, or whatever?

How long do you think it will take for a majority of the money to come back?

I once drove passed a collage and that is the extent of my expierence but it seems to me that at this rate not even half will return by the time the next presidential election.

I think it depends on November. If the GOP wins and it's obvious Trump and his policies are entact for at least 2 more years, then we'll see repatriation accelerate quickly. If the Dems win, it's going to take longer as corps will have hopes for a more accommodating Dem leadership that will reinstate the off shore friendly rules and tax structure that allowed so many companies to leave this country to begin with.

Agreed.

The big problem that no one wants to talk about is the global economy. It is happening. Has been for 500 years. It will accelerate. Until we get it through our skulls that the world is becoming an interlocked global system, and that companies are becoming more important than governments, we will just be whining about the "good ole days."

I do not see it coming back much more than it has no matter the elections cause imo the trade war will keep it away until it gets worked out if it ever does.

The best hope is to remove labor tax and let mexicans and such come here and work easier that it is today and that is what will get the economy in the shape that big money likes.

This is where most disagree with me but we do not need a bunch of collage educated professionals immigrating we need cheap labor. That is historically proven way of driving an economy.

Depends on if it was claimed income or not. If free and clear and left elsewhere to avoid future tax rates that would subject it to income, then no it is not. It could placed in a foreign trust with intentions to use as establishment currency/nest egg in the event you decide to leave the US and renounce citizenship with intent to never return. Like several Hollywood types threaten should X be elected...but they never do...

Are you planning on collecting social security?

Do you hate socialism when it defends our country?

Do you hate the local police, fire and ambulance services that socialism provides?

Do you hate your socialist public schools that educate your kids for free?

Do you hate the socialist road you drive on?

etc...

Maybe you don't hate some socialism, as long as you benefit from it.

I hate people being forcably removed from their money , yes I’ll draw a pension the one I payed for also the Canadian pension that I also pay for.

Taxation for the upkeep of the state is an essential evil.
A person getting a % for another’s wage due to disproportionate taxes is another matter altogether. Standardized health care is great till you have the money to pay for better by can’t in your own county you have to go else where. Yup I hate the schools I pay for that my kids don’t go to I hate paying for nice roads in Ontario while I drive on gravel.

Go on?

OK. Maybe move a little west and get out of the social contract of civilization altogether?

I have been to fly in fishing trips in Canada. If you want to get off the grid, that is the place to do it.

I have the paperwork in my desk right now on how an American can emigrate to Canada. I am seriously considering it. I have family up there from the migration from Europe in the 1800's and have met several of them. I am sure I could fit in living in the woods.

You might call me neighbor some day!

I'll bring the jerky and beer.
