FBI email virus (moved from ATSNN)

Topic started on 23-2-2005 @ 11:37 AM by SIRR1

I wanted to pass this on to ATS membership, it seems to be a pretty good cover for a email worm and or virus.

I wanted everyone here to be alert for this electronic bug.

Virus arrives in e-mail allegedly sent by FBI.

The FBI is warning the public about malicious e-mails designed to appear as if they were generated by the law enforcement agency.

In a statement released late Tuesday, the FBI detailed the threat, which attempts to lure e-mail users into opening an attachment containing a computer virus.

It looks now that these cyber criminals are getting more clever in how they spread the virus by using the FBI as a cover for spreading bugs.

If the FBI emailed me, yes I more that likely would open the file to see what they wanted, so I guess everyone needs to take a closer look at the sender before opening this email.

If the FBI emailed me, I would definitely not open it, the FBI would not send emails to people, they would just knock on your door.
