It certainly does.

Unfortunately, the Logan Act is never, ever enforced. Ever.

Logan Act of 1799.

Rogue Diplomacy

Who does Kerry think he is. The nerve.

Sounds like a Jimmy Carter-style trick. We don’t do diplomacy in America these days. Unless that diplomat previously worked at Exxon.

They get off Scott free because they have controlled the justice Dept and surveillance apparatus for years. . When the whichunt is over heads will roll and that cesspool will be cleaned out .

The intelligence/justice department is the real swamp .

Ah, but much of that particular region of the swamp is protected by a virtually impenetrable fortress.

No kidding, how many times did Jimmy Carter get away with it?

Someone would have to be offering other governments things in return for deals and since no one except for the gov. is able to offer on behalf of the gov. then the law can not be broken by anyone other than authorized gov.employees that have went rouge.

In other words if say The vp went and offered iran something but the potus did not authorize it then the law could be enforced.

People are free to meet with foreign governments and offer them the moon as long as they are not authorized to give away the moon.

Well since he is not authorized to negotiate on behalf of the usa and he is a citizen then he can meet with who ever he wants.

However, if your name is Trump and you happen to be the lawfully chosen President elect of the United States, and you talk about a meeting with another duly elected leader, namely Valdamir Putin, you are automatically accused of engaging in unlawful activity and subject to fanatical cries of impeachment. Makes sense to me, as long as I don't think for myself.

Isn't this illegal? He is not part of the government.

en.wikipedia.org...

If I were Trump I would take this opportunity to put him in gitmo till the end of my term, then hope someone forgets to let him out.

You make a very compelling argument!

Hard to counter that type of logic.

Even if I explained it to you, you would come up with some ridiculous counterargument that would make absolutely no sense to anyone but yourself.

So I chose the short route.

Kerry is not authorized to negotiate on behalf of the usa.

Therefore he is free to negotiate all he wants with anyone he chooses.

If kerry was authorized to negotiate on our behalf but he is told not to at this time and he ignored that then he would be in violation.

That is why that law has not been used much.

I've never seen this amount of dirt, lying, cheating and manipulation come out before. Trump would've already waded into it but if he did it now the Democrats would be screaming obstruction.

When this investigation is over. I firmly believe the hammer will come down. And we will see all those smiling smirking administrative political deep state hacks frog marched in front of the cameras.

You would not be breaking the law if you rang iran and told them they could have your car if they end their nuke program.

You could even offer them the uss mccain and still not be in violation of the logan act. Sure you would have broken other laws but not the logan act.

If Kerry is making negotiations with the Iranians, it's a violation plain and simple. Kerry is a person that could make future promises to them that would be enacted once democrats win the presidency again.

This should be treason you would think. He could be giving them info and better yet or worse how easy would it be for Iran to nab him torture him and get some Intel.

Or what if he is doing what he can to start a war with Iran. There is more bad possibilities than good here.

Kerry might be setting up a false flag.

The zer0Bama admin is still not accepting the 2016 election results.

Vicious and jealous they all are.
