Anglo Allies use each others Spy Agencies to spy domestically. This is well established and is useful as it circumnavigates those pesky domestic laws. For me, the surprise is that anyone is still surprised by this as their are a plethora of such incidents.

In point of fact Spy Agencies are supposed to spy on allies as well as enemies. Look at Merkle and her faux outrage on UK / US spying on her offices and meetings - until her own spy chief said we do it too.

Ok, so President Trump can use the intelligence agencies of the US and her allies to spy on everything the DNC and campaigns for 2018 (and 20) are doing, then feed that information to the RNC and Republican candidates in order to provide campaign research and points of attack during an election. Right? All good, above board and fair. Wouldn't worry you at all?

What's your point? Did you really not know this sort of thing has been going on for decades? It isn't a case of right and wrong, simply a reflection of Real Politik.

They are all at it. To call any individual on it is pure hypocrisy and demonstrates a clear lack of understanding on how the intelligence community operates.

1.) WHAT would have been the reason(s) for spying on Donald Trump AFTER he had already won the election for U.S. President?

The reason to have people with ties to GCHQ continue to spy on Trump after the election is the same reason they set the trap in the first place with Page and Papadopolous before the election. It was all an effort from the very beginning to find a way to get rid of Trump. We know that our government used these foreign spy contacts because it's illegal for our intelligence agencies to spy on Americans directly, even though they sometimes do it anyway.

Joseph Mifsud and Stefan Halper are both British spies. After it was announced that Papadopolous was being indicted, Joseph Mifsud disappeared and now there are reports that he might be dead. Mifsud had Russian connections too. He might have been a double agent. Heck, these days, we'd probably be surprised to find out how many triple agents there are.

Sure, that's why Mifsud and Halper initiated contact and tried to offer/sell information to Page and Papadopolous!

These weren't spies watching, they were spies who offered the bait and the information to try and put together a collusion story. They initiated it. They are the ones who offered to set up the meetings with Russians. It wasn't the other way around.

Oh right...🤦‍♀️

This was conspiracy when trumpy had Spicer claim it in a press conference back in March of 2017.
The whole Russia thing was already heating up because the fact is he hasn't gotten away with any of this and they have been wise to him from the very beginning and trump needed to start the witch hunt chant right away. They weren't spying on an opponent they were on to someone who was working with a foreign enemy to subvert a democrat process.
So he started this rumor of how Obama wire tapped him and postulate all the different ways he's been spied on and slandered ever since. Now... a year and a half later he's the boy who cried wolf and no one thinks hes being spied on as a political opponent and instead know he is being investigated as a traitor to the nation in complete cahoots with a foreign enemy.

Funny, I don't recall you ever responding to a previous post I made in another thread about Rosenstein's statements on Trump. You can choose to ignore the truth all you want, but Rosenstein himself told Trump that he was not the target of Mueller's investigation, that there were NO Americans involved in colluding with the Russians regarding the election, and that their investigation found that the Russian propaganda had no real effect on the outcome of the elections.

Ignore it all you want, but Rosenstein said it!

This is true.

The western allies have among their secret services a deal to circumvent national laws.
They let the others spy on their civilians or politicians etc. as this is not allowed by national law.
But laws do not prevent inter-national spying.

Then they have a legal database sharing program.

Problem solved.

Not just for Trump, this is common practice.
I'm not making this up, i heard a intelligence specialist talk about this once. Sorry, no linky.

Three questions for the deep political thinkers of ATS. In your opinion:

1.) WHAT would have been the reason(s) for spying on Donald Trump AFTER he had already won the election for U.S. President?

Because it is likely that he is being blackmailed by Russia, compromising national security.

2.) WHY would the United States colloborate (collude?) with the United Kingdom to spy on President-elect Trump?

Britain and the United States share intelligence because they have similar national security requirements. It is called "cooperation," not "collusion."

3.) If true, was this illegal, or was it merely post-election "opposition research"?

If Donald Trump is conspiring with Russia, it is a matter of national security. The intelligence agencies are simply doing their duty.

Why do you think he keeps threatening Jeff Sessions, accusing him of indicting "the wrong people?"

Because Congress and the media have already uncovered all of the corruption between Hillary, the DNC, the DOJ, the FBI, and yet no one has been indicted yet. If you're going to prosecute Republicans for campaign violations or lying to the FBI/DOJ, you have to hold everyone else accountable too, and Jeff Sessions hasn't so far.

I think we all know what would happen in that scenario....... heads would explode on the left, and if that happened, they would actually be right to react as such.

Because Congress and the media have already uncovered all of the corruption between Hillary, the DNC, the DOJ, the FBI, and yet no one has been indicted yet.

That's because there has to be evidence of a crime for an indictment. Cutting a back room deal is not a crime, even if it violates a political party's bylaws. Tweeting mean things about a presidential candidate is not a crime. Lying under oath is a crime, and McCabe is under investigation.

If you're going to prosecute Republicans for campaign violations or lying to the FBI/DOJ, you have to hold everyone else accountable too, and Jeff Sessions hasn't so far.

Again, there needs to be evidence of an actual crime and, again, McCabe is under investigation.

American citizens were also indicted. Flynn, Manafort, etc. The Russian indictments are separate.
