You should be able to post in the science forum right now, click forums at the top. to start a Thread on your own subject, I believe you have to post 10 time in an existing thread

You don't have to post ten times in the same thread. I forget how many posts you have to make before starting a thread. It used to be 20, but I think that has changed. So make posts here and there and before you know it, you can start your own thread.
