Lava lamp project

Hi guys. I have your typical non expensive lava lamp in my room. I recently bought an iridescent flexible piece of plastic with the intention to stick it to the outside of the bottle. I would like the whole process to be more or less seamless. Does anyone have any ideas how I could make some sort of pattern so as to cut the plastic to the right size? Because it’s conical in shape I just can’t figure it out.

Wrap a piece of paper around it tight...tape it in place...take it off marking it....cut the other material to it's shape...

that won't be seamless...but you can join the 2 sides as one straight seam.

PS..it will be conical
