Suspected he would....just going by the phone convo between Woodward and DJT...and when Kellyann jumped in, both her and DJT were asking Woodward for the " names ". Sounded like she was immediately seeking some scapegoats.

So you're saying his agenda was protect the identity of a source so he could possibly use them in the future. That's pretty much why every journalist protects the identity of their anonymous sources.

Not only does it give them a potential pipeline of information in the future, it shows other possible sources they can be trusted.

Woodward has built a career and legacy around being able to keep his anonymous sources anonymous. And despite all these anonymous sources he's used no one has called him a liar because of them. Until now.

Well as I mentioned earlier in this thread, I have defended Woodward before
myself. However, anyone can be bought, or swayed due to their own political
leanings. Woodward has always been a democrat. He works for Wa Po, a very
left leaning news outlet. So it make sense, its not like it is out of the parameters.

He also hates Trump, people can do very out of character things when
they are filled with hate.

It's trumps tweet not Mattis's tweet. And it's not POTUS Twitter it's his unofficial just trump the dump twitter account and most importantly it sounds like a statement the president authored himself with the patting himself on the back comments.

This isn't Woodward's first rodeo. Judging by the pearl-clutching reactions from Trump and many in his administration, it seems Woodward struck a nerve.

I'm paraphrasing here from the Daily Beast article about the book: Trump and his Administration have seen the first draft of its history, and it isn't pretty. That pretty much sums it up.

The only supporters Trump has left comprise a confederation of grifters, cons and morons.

If it's not true I wouldn't expect him to fire people. Why would he. If it's not true.
If Bob made up the whole thing then no one in the Whitehouse said any of this so no one should be fired over it. Firing anyone gives credence to the story.
