I think Russia is interested in the majority Russian populated provinces in Eastern Ukraine only. These provinces were originally part of Russia, and
had always been ethnic Russian. The thing that changed that was when Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev, who himself was ethnic Ukranian, changed the
map to incorporate these provinces into Ukraine. It didn't matter at the time, because both Russia and the Ukraine were parts of the larger Soviet
Union, but when the Soviet Union disintegrated, now several provinces full of ethnic Russians were being governed by Ukraine. The people in these
provinces actually just want to re-join their own kin in Russia, but somehow this idea seems to be a problem to the European Union, and to the United
Why not just let these provinces go back to Russia, the same way Crimea, also populated by ethnic Russians, voted to do?
