Read this and look at the word in Bold.

Results from a pilot scheme designed to clamp down on “health tourism” were reported by the London Evening Standard last month.1 As part of the scheme, which ran in 18 hospitals (11 in Greater London) over two months in autumn 2017, patients were required to show two forms of ID to prove that they were eligible for free NHS treatment. Checks carried out on 8894 patients found only 50 who were not eligible for free NHS treatment.

Do you understand the meaning of the English word " Free " ?

There are a few simple steps that could move healthcare reform in the right direction.

Just mandate that anyone or any institution offering medical care will need to publish a price menu. Have them list out all procedures and hourly rates in the open. They can also list all of the charges for materials used.

This pricing information has to exist in their systems or they wouldn't be able to bill anyone. They just need to publish it.

With the simple light of transparency and openness, corruption and price gouging would find it much harder to gain a foothold.

Obama and his Dems passed thousands of pages of medical laws. They couldn't be bothered to include any of this? What the hell was even in it??

I don't even know other than the individual mandate. I'll tell you this much though. I have a medical condition that makes it necessary for me to go to the doctor every 6 months like clockwork and my doctor's visits have gotten more and more tedious ever since Obamacare. If I didn't absolutely have to go I would not set foot in a doctor's office until such time as I absolutely had to. I'm sick to death of everything medical.

Yes and if I pay up front for a free meal then cash in that free meal it's not actually free and I don't care who calls it free it was paid for.

I probably pay less than you for my health care.

Well if you are happy then that's fine.

I'm a very happy person. With that said I actually want universal insurance in the US. I just won't be a liar and call it free healthcare, it's not.

I also want strict enforcement on who has access, with citizens and permanent legal residents able and others need to pay. I believe the UK is clamping down on healthcare tourism too.

Yes we are. Heavy Pregnant foreign women have been flying into the U.K. supposedly on holiday, then more or less going straight to a hospital to have their child with not cost to them whatsoever for their medical care.

Also people with serious illness have been flying in and doing the same. It has to be stopped.

They do that in America too, except their children then become citizens and they start getting the whole family into the US and we pay for all of them not just the birth.

I agree with your sentiment.

What this shows is that the Obamacare protections did not go far enough. What is there in any Republican plan that would have stopped this from happening. Absolutely nothing, in fact with the new approved "Trump" policies the outcome would have been no different because they all have policy limits and this treatment exceeded the limits in all these policies. .

This is America now. We are moving into a modality where you are either wealthy enough to afford healthcare, or you get none. Its a earned system. If you don't earn enough to be healthy, you don't deserve to live, and thus poor health will eliminate you and make way for someone better who may be able to earn enough to stay healthy.

My work colleague had Stents a few months ago. Cost, zero.

The wonders of The British NHS.

That sounds peachy.

How much is a gallon/liter of gas?
Have a v.a.t. in Britain?

Not exactly no cost. He's just been making pre payments for several years.

Funny you mention that. In the US oil production is subsidized, essentially a form of socialism. This is a major reason why we have cheaper fuel than the rest of the developed world. Many anti socialism republicans say this is necessary or the economy will crash with higher fuel costs.

This is ok but subsidized healthcare for all citizens is bad?

A healthy population is a more productive population.

The majority of this country is at risk of going bankrupt with 1 medical emergency. How can a rational and intelligent person can justify socialism for big oil but think socialized healthcare is a bad thing?

Because corporations (Big Oil) in this case are higher class citizens, and one of the cornerstones of conservative ideology is that none of my money should go to keeping other people healthy (since I get no benefit from that), unlike making corporations wealthier through our tax dollars means that those billionaire execs can finally trickle that money back down into my pocket again, win-win!

What kind of insurance plan doesn't have a maximum per person/per family?? Pretty sure mine is $9,000 max per person per year. Once that's paid insurance covers all other fees.

All you GOP people BLAMING DEMOCRATS are talking crap.

If America had a truly universal health insurance plan like most civilized countries THIS WOULDNT HAPPEN!

There’s only one thing stopping this

The REPUBLICAN party
