LOL the new Candidate for Governor of Florida (current (R) Congressman Ron DeSantis) made an odd comment in response to the Democrat Candidate for Governor.

The Democrat is the current Mayor of Tallahassee and is Black, and is a Socialist backed by Bernie Sanders.

DeSantis made one of the most flubbed-up comments ever and it might bite him back.

💥😃🤷😃💥

DeSantis: Florida Voters Shouldn’t ‘Monkey This Up’ by Voting for Gillum

Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” Florida Republican gubernatorial nominee Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) said Florida voters should not “monkey this up” by voting for his Democratic opponent Andrew Gillum.

DeSantis said, “You know, this is a guy, although he’s much too liberal for Florida, I think he’s got huge problems with how he’s governed Tallahassee. He is an articulate spokesman for those far left views and he is a charismatic candidate. I watched those Democrats debate and none of that is just my cup of tea, but he performed better than the other people there, so we gotta work hard to make sure that we continue Florida going in a good direction. Let’s build off the success we’ve had on Gov. Scott. The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases bankrupting the state. That is not going to work.”

That was a colorful way to put things. Hopefully it doesn't leave a black mark on his record.

This is so dumb.

I use the term "monkey around" all of the time.

"hey, you kids stop monkeying around!"

Now all of the sudden, if one of those kids is black, I am a disgusting racist?

This is what is wrong with our political system.

Instead of arguing policies, everyone is searching everywhere they can, to comments years past of facebook, to interviews that are current, for anything that they can interpret as offensive in any way.

The person who can feign more offense at their opponent is the winner.

I dont see how desantis's comment was anything other than a common colloquialism that has nothing to do with race.

But for some, this will be all the proof they need to claim this guy is a racist and he must be rejected.

Not surprising though, because they know they have nothing worth arguing on policy

Also, are not allowed to use the phrase "monkey around"? Say I'm at a playground with my daughter, and a family of color shows up. Am I not allowed to use the above phrase fo fear of being labeled a racist?

Also, I think he meant to say "muck" instead of monkey. Either way, Gillum will win for the same reason Obama won. Making history and all that.

Good grief!

This inst unlike the guy throwing fits about the scientific use of "Black Holes"

I'm offended that some black people think other black people look so much like Monkeys, the mere use of a standard non-racial figure of speech triggers them.

For shame Rizzo!

Then again, this is on Breitbart, so this is just Fake news, DeSantis never said it, its all CGI and magnets!!

I am not pretending anything.

Do you really think that a man would go on national tv and purposefully use the term monkey in a racist fashion after the roseanne incident?

What do you mean about him being a government official.

This wasnt a pre written speech, he was just doing an interview.

Nothing about what he says proves he is a racist.

He didnt say something like "we need to send this monkey packing", that would have been a racist remark

In fact, he praised Gillum for running a good campaign, but said we couldnt monkey around with socialist policies.

But I know the crowd that wants to look for racism or offense in everything will find racsim and offense in this.

I heard he meant "monkey wrench", as in "throw a monkey wrench in the works", but of course, the media will run wild with monkey = african american....Regardless, he's a way better candidate than Gillum to run FL.

All DeSantis needs to do is self identify as a person of color and the left will melt. Problem solved.

I don't know what the intentions were for the candidate who uttered this phrase....

But isn't just blindly attaching the word monkey to race kind of racist too? I mean, it's 2018, are there really self proclaimed racist watchdogs with good intentions making sure no one is using slurs? Or is there something to be said for the mind of the "moral" when they hear the word monkey and see a black person and scream "THAT'S RACIST". What if it wasn't intended to have anything to do with race? Does crying wolf and making an outcry not have the same effect on those who would be offended?

Just thinking out loud over here, carry on.

Michelle Obama has come under some fire for allegedly using a racial slur during a recent interview.

The First Lady of the USA was being questioned about her experience as a working mother by ABC news reporter Robin Roberts at the White House Summit on Working Families on Monday when she apparently used the term “gypped”.

Speaking about living on a part-time wage, she said: “The first thing I tried to do, which was a mistake, was that I tried the part-time thing… I realised I was getting gypped on that front.

www.independent.co.uk...

OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH!!!!!

Michelle was racist against gypsys!!!!!!!

Or not, she was just using a colloquialism.

And yes, there were those who tried to go after michelle for this, and they were ridiculous as well.

People when speaking of the cuff say strange phrases often, I know I do.

To assume a phrase that can be used all of the time is suddenly evil based merely on the skin color of his oponent is absurd.

Well, if you're looking for uniformity in application of slurs, try to figure out why it was acceptable to call GW Bush "Chimp" for his entire presidency, used by many, many in and out of the public eye and, when called on it, the defense was "He looks like a monkey." but the instant ANY non-white gets called the same, it doesn't matter if they're ears look like a cab with the doors open and they're standing holding a banana, it's never going to end well for whoever made the comment.

We coddle special interest people's thin skin far, far too much in this country.

Do I think because he used the term, it makes him a racist? No.

Do I think he is incapable of choosing his words more carefully, thereby making himself LOOK like a racist, or at the very least, a moron? Yes.

I get that it's now cool for a politician to mouth diarrhea whatever words come into the brain, without the slightest thought as to what those words are, but you'd think a man in public office would use the slightest amount forethought, right?
