BREAKING: John McCain, American statesman and POW survivor, has died at age 81.

Lets see how either side exploits it.

I did not care for McCain and I felt he used his military service to avoid answering for his illegal and unethical time in Congress.

Thoughts and prayers for his family though.

Damn... he just announced he would stop treatment what.. this week?

Too bad, but to be honest, even with his military record he was no friend of America.

Just another Progressive.

Like the OP says, let the political games begin!!!

Rest in peace, John.

Everyone was acting too Politically Correct to call him out when it was so obvious.

I will not miss him anymore than I miss Richard Nixon.

Detested his politics, but would never wish his condition on anyone not even my worst enemy, I hope his family finds some measure of peace.

That said, he was a glaring example of everything wrong with congress, Hopefully people will start to pay attention and not let these crooks sit in office for 40 years.

Brain cancer, like any cancer, can take a life over time or within days.

As for his military background prior heroism does not excuse present misconduct.

Senator John McCain sold out our nation to ISIS in Syria.

Military service can only carry you so far.

He served a corrupt elite.

Wasn't it just announced, like yesterday, that he was stopping cancer treatment? Weird. Were they trying to "prepare" is for this, or something? I don't think there is a treatment for that where once you stop it, you die the next day.

Unless it was something like, he was on a ventilator, and they were calling that "treatment." In that case, yeah you would die very soon after stopping treatment.

I'm sure he's dead, no conspiracy here...just thought it was strNge for him to go SO soon after "stopping treatment."

The treatment wasn't working. It very seldom does for the type of cancer he had.

So far, we see a lot of "good riddance" from the right here.

My wife has an incurable (according to the doctors, she so far has proven them quite wrong) form of cancer, so I am aware.

I wouldn't call his military background heroic at all.

Like I said... not a friend of America.

A man died though today... so despite his political beliefs it is still a death.

So again, Rest in Peace.

His diagnosis was terminal so discontinuing treatment (announced a few days ago) is not uncommon. People in that situation decide to stop the treatment and spend what time they have left with family and friends. No point in continuing a treatment that has no hope of making a difference. It does nothing but extend the time they have left but the conclusion is the same.

I would have no desire to drag things out if it were me in that situation. While its hard on the person with cancer its destructive to the family who has to watch the ending.

I would assume the Left will miss him more than the right. He was a RINO in every sense of the word.

RIP

I'm VERY familiar with the various treatments for that particular type of brain cancer. My 52 year-old brother in-law died of GBM last year. So I researched the hell out of all the mainstream and alternative and alternative alternative treatments for that hellish disease, AND I saw someone die from it. Literally, I was privelesged to be there when he took his last breath. I also saw the progression of the disease and the ups and downs and stops and starts with various treatments. I still say the timing is odd and they had to have known for a week at least that he was in the final decline.

I have no problem with the sentiments of the right so far.

Did not care for his politics.

However, any death is sad, and I wish the best for his family.

Regardless of what I felt of his policies, the man was captured and tortured fo his country, and that is more than I have done.

I hope he did not suffer, and was at peace when he went.

I didn't care for his politics, but he was a brave man and he seemed to be an honorable man. Condolences to his family.
