As of this morning I can't get any texts to copy/paste. When I try to highlight the text I want to copy the highlight goes away as soon as I release the key.

I had to install my Java again because something keeps deleting it, but that didn't fix it. I went in and did a disk cleanup, and I ran a deep malware program. Nothing was found.

Any idea what I need to do to fix this?

I have Windows 7 Ultimate and use Fire Fox browser.

Seems to work fine in Chrome...

However the left side of the page is funky sometimes.

Yes, it's everywhere. Have no other problems with my mouse, but I do have a spare I can try.

Thank you. I did a system restore and it appears to be working now. Something got added that wasn't there before.
I'll use your information if it happens again.

Stuck key.

Turn the keyboard upside down & bang the keys to get the "keyboard chow" out.

Can't help ya but I too have had a problem reoccuring with something else: My @ key keeps moving into my numer 2 key and vise-versa, also happened with my £ SIGN and I have no idea where that one goes. It's weird!

It's been alright for the last few days though, maybe it's sorted itself out.

Did I say "key"? I did, didn't I. I meant my mouse. I hold down the left "key" (don't know what else to call it) and highlight the area to copy, then use the right "key" on the mouse to choose "copy". When I release the left "key" the highlighted area disappears before I can copy it.

It appears to be somewhat fixed now, although I can only highlight a few lines at a time. Takes time to get a long article I want to copy.

The mouse buttons operate differently if you hold down the Alt, Ctrl or Shift keys (on the keyboard).

Could be a stuck Shift key?

If the keyboard is wireless, could be a flat battery.

Cheers but I doubt it coz the other keys would do the same wouldn't they??

OK, if you have a £ key, you probably have a British keyboard. If the keyboard layout gets changed to a US layout, the £ and @ keys are different (the @ key, on a British layout above the ' key moves to above the 2 key in a US layout. Similarly, the US keyboard doesn't have a £ key at all).

British and American keyboards From Wikipedia

How to change your keyboard layout on Windows 10 PC - Windows Central

I think that might be what is happening.

Maybe every now and then it switches to US keyboard layout... a possible malfunction within windows 10.

It's working fine right now and it does show as UK Version Keyboard' using the wondows key & space bar effect.

And my keyboard is not wireless!

Thanks everyone. I found the problem. It was the mouse. It was the kind attached to my desktop. I had a wireless (spare) on hand, so I switched to it and the keyboard that came with it and everything seems to be okay now.

Just thought I'd let you know so if anyone else out there has this problem, they can try the same thing to fix it.

Appreciate all the interest and help.
