With cell phones, the new Sidekick II, and other forms of communication technology spreading, it is not surprising that someone has found a way to vandalize your property. This virus known as Cabir drains the battery of your phone/Sidekick and is considered more of a hassle then a devastating force by cell phone companies.

"The biggest impact of the relatively innocuous virus, found in about 15 variations so far, is draining mobile phone batteries, said Mikko Hypponen, director of Finnish anti-virus research company F-Secure (FSC1V.HE).

Hypponen said Cabir was found on Monday in a technology gadgets store in Santa Monica, California, when a passing techie spotted a telltale sign on the screen of a phone in the store.

This virus was made in the Philippines, and is now in America. This could lead to cell phone companies selling anti-virus program for phones/Sidekicks to keep this from becoming a problem. Right now all the virus does is drain your battery, but how long till a virus is made that makes the phone/Sidekick stop working? Research needs to be done now to keep a small hassle from becoming a major disaster.
