Conor’s father, Derek Daly, on Thursday admitted he had used a racial slur in a live radio interview in the early 1980s. Conor Daly was born in 1991.

On Friday, Lilly Diabetes pulled its sponsorship decals from Conor Daly’s No. 6 NASCAR ride, saying that it didn’t want the distraction from their cause.

So now companies are punishing people for comments made by other people BEFORE someone was even born?

This is yet another example of how far off the rails things have gone.

I just don't understand how something like this happens? Explain how these standards are evenly and fairly enforced?

People are getting way too soft and sensitive.

Whatever happened to "sticks and stones...words may never hurt me?"

Ya well us younger folks have very stupid parents in regards to sensitivity. Hell my parents want guns banned.....UGH how dumb could one be? My dad is so scared of them (though he is an army vet) he won’t even come over for a dinner.

I purposely say super messed up things just to try to soften them up a little. But NO they just get super mad and try to preach “political correctness” which is complete crap. I mean how scared can someone be of words??? I just don’t get it dude.

:EDIT: sorry for getting off topic man. As for the OP that really does suck but it is his sponsor so they can do what they want. Personally I would get another that doesn’t bend a knee to that crap but it is what it is.

I don't see why anyone would be upset.

I always thought the point of driving a fast car for NASCAR was to just try to be the fastest racist, so you could win the races.

I would like to say 'Only in America Dude", but I cannot in all honesty.

This is a virulent mental illness infecting the entire planet.

Examples such as this one abound and meanwhile, people start to believe that rather than fix their own homes, they can just move into someone else's house and trash it.

The world is going crazy and you know what ... it is just the beginning.

I don't see it so much as a "punishing someone for what their parents said 10 years before they were born" situation.

I see it much more of a "your children will pay the price of you disobedience from now on, so let this be a warning to you" situation.

It makes a lot more sense that way.

You are so right on with this post. It is yet another mechanism in the quest for control via PC and self censorship. Be careful, if you speak out of line generations of your offspring could pay.

it makes a lot of sense when you remember the same people to do things like that are some of the same ones who think people should pay money for things that happened generations before (possibly even before their ancestors were even in the country), to people who had no part in those things (possibly having happened before their ancestors were even in the country), having happened generations before. and blame the problems of certain people on things that happened well over 100 years before they were born.

Isn't it the younger generations that are pushing the hurt feelings, anti this and that, that is driving these PC issues.

In my experience it has been the parents driving these bull crap PC issues into the young ones. I try my best to remind my younger sisters that all that is complete crap and has no purpose but to dumb down society. For the most part us 30 something year olds are most definitely not PC. It is the early 20 something year olds. And this can’t just be blamed on them. Something happened to have them think that way.

Being preached morality from Eli Lilly?? In case anyone has forgotten what they do.....

The price of insulin — a lifesaving drug — has reached record highs as Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk and Sanofi raised prices more than 240 percent over the past decade to often over $300 a vial today, with price rises frequently in lockstep, according to information technology firm Connecture.Oct 28, 2017

Isn't it because they are getting their feeling hurt and the parents now have to fix it.

What are the ages of the parents over the last few years whose children are in elementary school.

Reading the link, the criminal had just emigrated from Ireland and was not aware of the way the term was used in the US. His son is being punished for it.

North Korea uses this tactic to great effect when generations of a family must suffer for a "crime" committed by a family member.
