I have to disagree with the OP. I think Trump’s supporters are with him through thick and thin. Those I know who support Trump are people who no longer listen to the MSM...to the point that even when the MSM is telling the truth, they don’t even believe it then. I don’t think the Meuller investigation has hurt him with his supporters, because they believe it is politically motivated by “the swamp” to take him down with any measure necessary. The Trump voters not only voted for him because they generally despise Hillary, but because he is brash, obnoxious, stubborn, not politically correct, and extremely patriotic. I think they will forgive, overlook, and refuse to believe almost anything as long as he keeps fulfilling his campaign promises. I think Trump supporters are doing what they did during the last election—keeping their heads down and their mouths closed except in company of people they feel comfortable discussing their support of him. If you think Trump’s supporters have forgotten how they were called names, ridiculed, demonized, and called deplorable during the last election, then you are mistaken. I have no “source” to share, but I live in an area in the Midwest where Trump has strong support and know dozens of people personally who support him still. His supporters are often very quiet about their support and won’t tell you they support him though unless they are comfortable around you. The reason for this secretiveness is because many people I know became estranged from friends and even family members if they shared they voted for Trump after the last election. I had honestly never seen anything like it in my life.

After 8 years of Obama worshiping, the media had lost almost all credibility. Many working Americans who knew politicians were corrupt and dishonest were ready for a real change....and that was Trump, the anti-politician. I knew many people who would have voted for Bernie Sanders instead of Trump, if Hillary and the DNC had not sabotaged his campaign, which was widely reported after the election. As I see it, Trump's election was a 21-st century a proletarian (working-class) revolution...and many working-class Americans continue to view the media as the propaganda wing of the DNC. From my experience, the group that views politicians as corrupt and the media as propaganda is growing--and so is Trump's popularity. In fact, it grew from 47% to 50% over the past 2 months, according to Gallup.

I'm an independent voter, tired of the lies, corruption...and very sad that we have replaced our free press with nonstop liberal propaganda. If Trump is guilty of an actual crime---which I do not believe he is after all the $$$ spent on months-long investigations---he should be punished (Obama was fined for breaking campaign finance laws). And if Trump and the Q folks actually have evidence of high crimes by others, what are they waiting for? Their s-called plan is strating to appear as lame as the media's propaganda.

Once you've realized the depth of political corruption in DC and the deceitful nature of our media, you can't go back to business as usual. Many no longer believe a word the media spews...and many prefer to get their news from sites like ATS where it is discussed by critical thinkers and we can arrive at our own beliefs. For example, follow a Q thread on almost any site and you enter an alternate news universe filled with criminals......yet, the so-called criminals are campaigning and openly fundraising (Hillary), and appear to be winning.

Trump is inconsequential at this point. He's already undone most of Obama's anti-American legacy, revitalized the economy with more jobs for blacks and Hispanics....and lots of hot air and promises from "Q" about bringing corrupt politicians and their cronies to justice.

to almost looking for a way out of their previous out and out blind support of the man with out having to say those most difficult of words "I was wrong about Trump".

This line is a cracker.

Liberals with egg all over their faces for two years after arrogantly giving the Presidency to Hillary before a vote was cast and spending the next two years chasing fantasies about impeachment from trying to get the electoral college to vote against the people, to the mockery of the Russian collusion conspiracy theory and then on to who Trump slept with, all the while screaming racist at every turn...and yet its apparently Trump supporters 'looking for a way out'.

I just checked - Trump is the President and the US is doing pretty darn well.
Propagandists haven't managed to dent Trump's support in 2 years - in fact, it's getting stronger.

The feeling I've been getting, knowing tons of different people on tons of sides and being in groups with people of all political ideologies, the feeling I've gotten is that his base has only been slightly chipped away at. I've seen a couple who have said they've woken up and seen through him lately, but I think the majority of his core base (95% or more) is still intract, and 100% truthfully..Literally nothing that happens here going forward I believe is going to change that very much.

That’s what happens when you convince your parties base that there is everyone not a select few media sources are in a vast conspiracy against them/you.

They just don’t believe anyone else but those few media sources..

Add in the fear of having looked like a jack @$$ for supporting them and cognitive dissidents is a hell of a drug.

Ha!

Yep me too.

Well, dont worry, I will be old enough to run for president in 2024!

Have half the platform of him and I'll campaign for you.

It would be similar.

Though strangely there is a lot in my platform about seeking vengeance on my old neighbor whose dog used my yard as a restroom!

Good to know, as a self elected campaign manager, we will leave that out of our public platform and keep it in the private platform.... We'll get it earmarked in some bill by a congressman in West Virginia who needs some coal favors, I know people.

Already you two have been corrupted to use your power for personal vengeance and influenced by lobbyists LOL

No one believes Trump is great. He's a hammer. Nothing more.

If he's no longer useful, expect the next offering to end up being worse. May take a cycle or 2 to filter one out...but you can expect that middle America is still fuming pissed, and willing to hurl the most destructive force it can at DC in protest. Trump was the first volley.

Just a quick thread, something that I have been thinking on recently when browsing through the mud-pit.

I am only all too aware of my own views when it comes to this issue so please understand that I am doing my best to that into account and its probably why I haven't bothered to write this thread before know. I also know that this could be a little premature however I am still getting the slightest feeling that the tide of support for Trump is turning against him.

What I mean is that I cannot help but feel that there has been a bit of a softening that I have noticed in how some members seem to be almost (but not quite) becoming much more open to the notion that actually Trump isn't as great as they all seemed to think he was a year or so ago. I am starting to think that some members might be getting closer to sitting on that preverbal fence that has Trump supports on one side and his doubters on the other.

I feel like there has been a noticeable moving of the goal posts from defending Trump to excusing Trump now to almost looking for a way out of their previous out and out blind support of the man with out having to say those most difficult of words "I was wrong about Trump".

There has never been any out and out blind support for Trump...Now HIllary and Bernie, that's another story...

In case you haven't noticed, Trump is up to 50% approval rating in the Rasmussen poll...

The Trump collusion story is gone...They couldn't find any obstruction of justice...Now they're well beyond those fake stories and are searching for anything they can to bring Trump down...

Trump should fire them all even if he has to declare Martial Law to keep the animals in check...

That has never been Trump's quote...Trump was repeating what some derelict 'newsman' said about him...

There's talk and rumors of an effort within the highest levels to try to convince Trump to resign before this all "gets much worse" for him. Speculative, unconfirmed nonsense most likely. But somehow I can see them trying. Perhaps that is the end game, the outcome they are hoping for?

Then again, when is too much, too much for this man?

Nothing is keeping him from saying F it, and go back to his private billionaire life, maybe retire.

There are still a significant number of people, who remember how Ron paul got bernied by the GOP. and I think his kid, Rand, stands a good chance of being the Donald's successor.

This statement will be resurrected in 2024 and you'll never be able to live it down.

You better hope that dog is still alive when you run or you'll never be able to shake the perceived guilt.

Oh God, I'm so jaded by the current state of politics.... look at what I'm assuming 6 years into the future.

I swear, I use to be an optimist

There there, dude.

This notion that Trump supporters are mostly blind devout's only exists in the mind of the intellectually lazy and couldn't be further from the truth. Now on the other hand, I could make the argument it is the Anti-Trump crowd that is lost under some religious zeal.

In fact, I'll just go ahead and say the Anti-Trump cult is the most dangerous of them all.

Zackly. If anything, Trump supporters, by and large, recognize that he is much more a game changer, than anything else. Just wrecking the old system, is actually good enough. Everything else is pure gravy. The old guard GOP, is being/has been destroyed already. And the Dems are flailing about...albeit much more publicly.

While I personally think he is doing a good job of demolishing politics-as-usual, he is basically a populist...which is to say, a stand-in, for the None-of-the-Above vote. This is the natural extension of the Tea Party movement...which dissolved even as politicians tried to co-opt it into a political thing, instead of the organic social thing it was.
