Do I think trump cares about me.. no not at all its absurd to ever think a sitting president cares about any particular normal person.

BUT, I do think he cares about the country, I do think he cares about the rampant corruption in DC, the shredding of the Constitution, and the general direction the country is going.

Read into that what you will.

Finally we have a president who cares about this country and cares about it's citizens.

A lot of people have said that.

I would like to know why people think that though.

Short answer: He is not political establishment politically "elite," but an outsider; therefore one of the "regular" people, or so he claims to be, even though he isn't.

He plays his base for the fool it is, and it works.

But finally. We have a guy who cares. That guy is trump. ..So what is it that makes him so caring?

He speaks to the common white blue collar disenfranchised by the technologically modernized times that has left the "regular" folks behind. He speaks to the "common person" who feels increasingly marginalized by the modernized college-educated liberal-progressive crowd, which happens to be the future. They feel left behind and increasingly less relevant in modern society.

That's the short answer, in a nutshell.

He plays his base for the fool it is??? Which means you supported Bernie or Hillary or both...And they convinced you guys that communism is the new, great future of the U.S...And globalism which removes our American sovereignty and turns us into a nation/state where we have no more right to success and prosperity than Nairobi or Cambodia...And certainly no more influence on the world stage than them...And no right to a military by which we can defend ourselves...

A utopia where every one is equally impoverished...How did they talk you into THAT???

I think it means he cares more about AMERICANS than other countries.

That ought to be the first qualification to be POTUS.

Maybe the only qualification.

Amd it HAS been a rare thing among presidents overall.

Hate to get off topic, but why is coal important? It's a dying industry right?

It is according to the DNC and the media. However, it still supplies the most energy to the United States. I think Trumps thoughts that Solar and Wind are good that the wiser thing to do is to keep blending until the optimum energy production is created.

For instance, several years ago Germany was touting that they were no longer dependent on coal. And in truth, they weren't. They started a media blitz badgering the rest of the world to follow their lead (probably for their own manufacturing benefit). However soon happened Fukishima. Since Germany is (and has always been) left wing reactionary, the politicians and public then demanded all nuclear energy be dismantled. This happened quickly. Then it was found that solar and wind CANNOT provide Germany's energy needs. Thus a deal had to be struck for natural gas - going back to coal - which Germany has plenty of - was not an option because of the way they demonized it. Putin laughing says, "well Germany, we can help you."

Fortunately the US has plenty of all energy resources but at this time the fact remains that coal is the cheapest and most available resource in that area.

I banked on that myself and since Trump came into power I have increased my personal wealth 10 times over because I knew back when Obama and HRC were demonizing coal that if they lost power, coal would come back into acceptance. And it has. And I am richer for it. And i like it.

So how far back into his life do you look?

Showed interest and courted certain people?
Ok. I kind of see what you are saying.

Based on that interest alone he has shown you he has others best interest at heart?

Has anything over the last 4 decades of his life shown you that maybe he really just cares about himself?

He does not strike me as the kind of guy that's been out there doing good things for others. When he decides to run though All of a sudden he is the people's president?

I'm just trying to understand.

Seems to be 2 basic trains of thought.

People that support him think he cares and wants to fix # and maga

People that oppose him, people like myself think he is in it for himself and wanted to prove he is the biggest winner of all time.

Can't be both right?

I look at his life and what I see through my eyes is a guy that wants to win at all costs. I do not see a guy that does things for others.

This is why I'm curious. I want to catch a glimpse of what others see but I need to know what that is first.

I have never really cared for or about Trump before he arrived on the political scene. I found his TV show ridiculous, but at the time it was very popular. I did read his book at the beginning of his campaign and realized he is vastly more intelligent than anyone thinks.

He plays people. He is a total Troll for his own advantage. However, there is also a good side to him that is fairly humble. he has given quite a bit to charity and has even stepped out of his top 1% role many times to help individuals he saw needed help.

This shows that for advantage or not, he is willing to help other people. It seems also that his altruism is not toxic. it is based in the idea that if he helps he wants his help to make any actual difference in the other persons life.

The main thing that sold me, when I sat back and thought about it, was - WHY DO ALL THE HEAD HONCHO'S HATE HIM??

That means to me that they never were able to compromise him.

He never did drugs and never drank. Because of that, he was never able to be tricked into being blackmailed in some bizarre sexual thing that the vast majority of power brokers have been tricked into. This is why he is hated. They have nothing to force him into line. NOTHING. All these guys hoping this stuff the news throws every day are riding around in pipe dreams.

however, if they do somehow manage to F over Trump, you should be fearful, because that will mean that in the USA the rule of law definitely no longer matters and that we are lorded over by kings and queens that pretend to be elected.

For your question I would say that is because he is the first national politician in a very long time that showed interest in and courted the blue collar Americans.

Rhino's do not and Democrats definitely do not. Blue collar Americans seem to be disgusting to our political class at large and Trump definitely shows that he cares about this class of people by interacting with them and publicly admiring them and advocating for them.

I am not blue collar, so for me my trust in him comes from the fact that nearly all lifetime political beings despise him. For that alone I know he is doing something right. Not even just right, but possibly f'ing fantastic.

All the right people hate him and so therefore I admire him.

Bernie did.

Bernie Sanders Draws Blue-Collar Workers in Iowa
Fight for blue-collar Ohio shows how Trump and Sanders are alike and different
How Trump and Sanders tapped America's economic rage

So, he's not the first politician in a long time; they both appealed to the same people, successfully.

And nearly all people, who are not politicians, also despise him. He retains a solid 25% core support. Does that not come into the equation?

The last 40 years of his life isn't what he campaigned on. I would assume it was what he campaigned on that give people that feeling.

I'm not a Trump supporter, but I have eyes and can clearly see the US is better off economically now than it was Jan 19, 2016.

Results matter to me, not rhetoric.

We are acquiring more debt than we are improving the economy. Sure the govt spending improves the economy, but aren't you all against Govt spending, fiat money and interjections into the "free market" by the the government?

Wife calls you hypocrickets. When faced with your own hypocrisy all one hears is crickets.

From what I can tell, Trump has an empathy problem. His ego gets in the way and he cares mostly, if not only, about himself. He thinks he is the best, the smartest, the only one with the answers. How can someone like that even begin to care about other people's perspectives, which requires one to humble oneself and listen to what other people have to say?

Simple answer is he can't, in all fairness though that is a trait all of these power hungry types have so it's not like he is unique or anything.

I've seen that statement a lot.
Finally we have a president who cares about this country and cares about it's citizens.

A lot of people have said that.

I would like to know why people think that though.

What about the last day 40 years of his life shows he is a person who cares and has everyone in the country's best interest at heart?

This is a serious question.

Nobody is squeaky clean. No president has been but that statement implies that none of the previous presidents cared about the country.

But finally. We have a guy who cares. That guy is trump.

I just want to know why or how people came to that conclusion about him.

I just want to know what it is about him or what the last 40 years of his life has shown that leads peoe to think that out of all past presidents that trump is the guy.

There has mean a lot of mess surrounding him going back decades.

So what is it that makes him so caring?

Thanks for the replies

Desperate PR stunt to save career/minimise damage; to his detriment he lacks all verbal skills - been going on for thousands of years - he's made his wealth stamping on others and slurring the most oppressed - Guess the US voters love that mindset for leader.

You think he'd risk his wealth or safety to help you - please - he's a business man, he only cares about counting money and gaining power. That ans spending his time on twitter rather than being US president.

His ego, his comments, his narcissism, everything is all about Trump, all the time. To him, the world revolves around him. You really think he cares about guys working in coal mines? Hilarious.

The people I know that voted for think he's a self-centered prick with bad manners and who would obviously treat the government like the Jerry Springer show.

Which is why they voted for him.

Does he care about "us"? Well, he thinks that America should have real borders, that people should honor our veterans and respect the flag; he's not going to jack with our gun rights, that he's not going to take crap off of Iran.

Europe* Hates us.

(German/French-run socialist EU, that is. USA is popular in places like Poland and Hungary, and much of sub-Saharan Africa)

Good. They should laugh at us. They should hate us. Because the only time they half-heartedly approve of the US is when we have a milquetoast like Obama trying to remake us in the image of some Small, unarmed, expensive European museum of a grand duchy the size of Coney Island.

Four instances of why trump got elected:

Obama: "They cling to guns or religion..."

Obama: "after my election, I'll have more flexibility to negotiate...." [what the left Wishes they had trump saying to the Russian president. But it's okay when a Marxist does it].

Michelle Obama "all this, for a damn flag...."

And in January 2016, a US navy boat with 10 sailors was seized by the Iranian revolutionary guard. The sailors were arrested and taken to a nearby island. Obama flew in 400 MILLION in unmarked foreign currency, after which the hostages were released. And the Iranians were paid off so they would abide by their nuclear agreement.

Don't want Hillary either. We had two crappy candidates. Hillary being a criminal, Obama being whatever people think he is.. none of that has anything to do with Trump, although his followers seems to think somehow the actions of other people, somehow negates whatever Trump does, or negates all of his lies. It doesn't actually work like that.
