If it takes a commercial with cool looking kids doing fun stuff not even related to the subject then there is a pretty good chance the product isn't worth it. But then it works very often.

Exactly! Which should be the first clue that it's all BOGUS.

Even before they started school, I taught my kids to "spot the lie": What is that commercial trying to make you believe so that you'll buy their product? My kids figured it out real quick -- and had a lot of fun with it.

It's not rocket science. It's just much easier to blame others for our own poor judgment. Which is a shame. Because good judgment often comes from experience... which comes from bad judgment. So we deny ourselves growth and wisdom in the process.

Really. I can turn off TV, radio, etc anytime I like. With net neutrality going away then internet may get trashed.

I think you may be part of then brainwashed crowd. How is taking away free speech at that level not going to destroy it for those with even less power and control.

This is scary stuff but it is what our country is becoming.

They can only be told what they should think.

Or maybe people choose to only listen to what they want to hear.

I digress....we are forced to watch what is fed to us by the private ownership of the MSM conduits we choose from...its frying pan or fire and multiple MSM entities are owned by a collective of powerful people who work together anyways....we are not forced to turn our TV on but when ALL OF THE CONTENT IS CONTROLLED AND OWNED PRIVATELY....then we become victims of individual propaganda from a grassroots source that cannot ever be removed nor mitigated.

Don't give "the media" all the credit... much less "grassroots" sources. As long as government propaganda is "legal" under color of law, "the media" is not in complete control of what they disseminate or don't disseminate. This isn't to say they aren't willing and even eager accomplices in the propagation of fake news, but they are not acting alone.

The media is not our biggest problem in terms of information. Government secrecy is. As long as government does not have to be transparent in their actions, we the people are screwed. The answer is complete transparency, giving we the people the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. It doesn't matter if "the media" lies as long as we have unhindered access to the truth.

As long as we must depend on others for our information, we are subject to lies.

That's about the same. No use in comparing ideas and making a informed decision.

Yes we are forced to choose from a list that is ALL TAINTED...and I already posted a disclaimer saying no one forces us to turn our TV on....but this is not the topic of discussion …..it is about who owns and controls the information being beamed into billions of homes and impacting billions of people.Even a ten year old kid can understand that privately owned and directed MSM is brainwashing...if you discuss it with them honestly.

Oh yes We the People deserve the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth.....but we need to remediate many levels of civic and federal directives at the same time that we remediate the privately owned propaganda machines....in my City a Cop shoots a suspected car thief to death sitting in a car not trying to evade or battle and it gets minimal coverage...but a drug dealer shoots another drug dealer and it gets maximum coverage...….this is the media working with the Civil authorities to re-direct attention away from a potential murder by a Cop ...it is this with absolution...…..I live in a winter city where there has been endemic theft from City coffers by the incumbent councillors and Mayor....a prime example of how the MSM aided in this theft is the evidence left by this.....lol....in a winter city in northern CANADA with a 4 month summer....someone quietly suggested in city council that specially designed bicycle lanes cut out from existing road lanes be introduced to the city....because of course SO MANY PEOPLE WERE RIDING THEIR BICYCLES SO MUCH IT WAS DEEMED CRITICAL ENOUGH FOR COUNCIL TO DEAL WITH IT......prior to this issue being brought up in Council there was a MASSIVE MSM PUSH SHOWING PEOPLE RIDING BICYCLES IN THE CITY...over and over we would see the SAME PEOPLE ...LOL...FEW PEOPLE....RIDING THEIR BIKES FURIOUSLY IN THE CITY.....they BOMBED US WITH IT LEAVING AN INTENTIONALLY OBVIOUS MSM TRAIL OF SUPPOSSED PUBLIC NEED......then the issue was slipped through City Halls vote with a majority vote in an expedited manner....and within 2 years over 30 million dollars had been spent painting bike lanes and putting up thousands of signs......NO ONE USES THE BKE LANES AND NO ONE EVER DID OR WILL....it has been a con-job of massive proportions......it turns out the Company who just made 30 million dollars in 24 months is owned by the flunky drop-out son of a former City Council member.....and it gets better because then City Hall pushed through more weird and uncalled for playground speed zone changes changes that resulted in THOUSANDS OF MORE SIGNS BEING INSTALLED FOR MILLIONS MORE DOLLARS by the same company who raped the city for the pained lines on the road …...signs that are now BEING REMOVED AT AN EVEN BIGGER COST BY THE SAME COMPANY THAT INSTALLED THEM.....lol....lol..lol...and these decisions were ALL SUPPORTED TO THE MAXIMUM BY THE MSM ...but...these decisions were NOT SUPPORTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY...…...so we see collusion between the MSM and the Police and between the MSM and criminally focused City Council and we see collusion between the MSM and big pharma....it never ends...and will not until we force it to end...by voting for the right people.

Wow! That's crony capitalism on steroids!!!

But you saw through it. And I'm betting lots of people saw through it too. And that's where our real power lies: In being able to find the truth for ourselves.

I'm not in any way discounting or minimizing the very real threat of fake news... and cronies colluding... but the problem is allowing the truth to be hidden in any way, shape or form. Knowledge is power. As long as we the people do not have full and complete access to the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, the lying liars who do have that knowledge will abuse that power. Including the people we vote for.

The only true solution is complete and total transparency.

Oh, its even better than that ChaoticOrder.

Not only IS the left full of intellectually advanced people compared with their opposite numbers on the right, but they are the good kind of intellectuals, those who do not use their knowledge for greed and gain, but only for the good of the many, have not invalidated their beliefs by permitting themselves to benefit over much from a system based on exploitation.

This I think is one of the largest misconceptions and self-delusions of the left. It took some time but I now see how thin that charade of morality really is, it's nothing but a political tool, conservatives tend to care just as much about the less fortunate because of their religious tendencies. I'm very much opposed to organized religion btw. For a large portion of my life I did lean to the left and promoted socialism and globalist ideals. At heart I'm a classic liberal, but I understand the fact that creating a nanny state is not an intelligent direction for society to head which is why I'm a libertarian and so are many of the smartest people I know; Ron Paul, Penn Jillette, Milton Friedman, and a rapidly growing number of independent reporters on social media who are wiling to challenge the mainstream narrative.

I believe in personal responsibility and the freedom of individuals to participate in a free market. Free market capitalism will always be superior to hardcore socialism for a simple reason: capitalism is something that arises naturally when a society of people engage in free trade, whereas excessive socialism requires governmental force to ensure some degree of equality. All I hear from those on the left are ideas related to taking wealth from the rich and redistributing it, I never hear of ways to empower the poor and increase their standard of living in a way where they can actually contribute something. I follow a handful of conservatives on YouTube, in my experience they are extremely caring people who go out of their way to carry out acts of kindness, tangible things which actually help improve the lives of others.

The way I see it now, hard leftists are so caught up in their own self-righteous attitude that they cannot imagine they aren't right about their view of the world, and they also don't want to run the risk of being outcasts and being called a drooling idiot by going against the grain, not a very intellectual way of behaving if you ask me. Nor is it smart for the MSM to mislead people so much that a large chunk of the population stops trusting them, and it's not very intelligent to attempt to suppress the voice of your opponents and prove their point in doing so. The only ones digging their grave are themselves. Ultimately it comes down to two choices, we can choose liberty and freedom, or governmental coercion and intrusions into the way we live our lives.

This may surprise you, but I do agree that overall if you take the "left" and "right" as separate groups and give them an IQ test the left will most likely be the smarter group by a reasonable margin, because a lot of conservatives let religion prevent them from fully embracing science. But at the end of the day the logic of the right has a stronger foundation based on hard facts rather than emotions... or put another way, get together two of the most intelligent philosophers for a debate, one left leaning and the other right, when each really fleshes out their full argument the right leaning philosopher will tend to form a stronger line of reason the majority of the time, at least in my experience, because ideologies based around the use of force in spite of human nature are intrinsically flawed.

Also I tend to believe that a position closer to the center is preferable, I'm not at all against some degree of socialism because I think it can help balance out some of the flaws in capitalism. However I do lean slightly more to the right as a libertarian because I value my liberty and I can look around at the world and see what happens to a nation when it thinks the most righteous path to take is one of excessive socialism, how it almost always harms the economy, stifles innovation, and causes more harm than good at the end of the day. I don't believe what I believe out of greed, I'm just promoting the system which logic tells me works the best for improving the average living standards of a population and affords us the highest degree of freedom and liberty.

I agree with you...and I incorporate your perspective in that our power lies in being able to discern truth from lies....and the internet is the perfect forum because it contains as many lies and cover-ups as MSM ...BUT BUT BUT....it also contains more truths buried withn it than the MSM has ever told in all of its history....so the ONLY PLACE WHERE WE CAN OPTIMALLY USE OUR STRONGEST ATTRIBUTES is ONLINE......via anonymity.

As far as voting goes...until we have a global list of every single living human being born and deceased in real time and have their name listed...we CANNOT BY PROXY EVER ACTION A TRUE DEMOCRACY...a TRUE DEMOCRACY has never to our current knowledge existed nor has it been able to exist....and attempt at a democracy without this global list is by proxy flawed and contains a poison pill in that whenever a person chooses to NOT CAST A PHYSICAL OR TANGIBLE VOTE....the INATE VERY REAL POWER....of that unused vote....it transferred to another hand...it does not go unused....and it is a collection of every single one of these uncast yet harvested vote/impacts that the Powers That Be use to undermine and to disenfranchise the attempted democratic processes.

America is the SEED OF GLOBAL DEMOCRACY...it is NOT a Democracy for not one exists on Earth yet....however we do now have the power to action such a global democracy.

And in order to know truth, we must have access to all information independent of any "authority."

Let's start here: If ALL government actions were recorded and made easily accessible to anyone and everyone in complete transparency, it would be impossible for "the media" to air/print cherry-picked information from anonymous government officials... to propagate government propaganda and rhetoric... to misrepresent the whole truth by either omission or commission.

...and the internet is the perfect forum because it contains as many lies and cover-ups as MSM ...BUT BUT BUT....it also contains more truths buried withn it than the MSM has ever told in all of its history....so the ONLY PLACE WHERE WE CAN OPTIMALLY USE OUR STRONGEST ATTRIBUTES is ONLINE......via anonymity.

The internet is indeed a powerful tool -- and weapon. And it would be even more powerful if the truth were made known, so that we didn't have to waste our time and energy trying to figure out what the truth is!

And God willing, there will never be a true democracy, because a true democracy is mob rule... it's two wolves and a lamb voting on what (or who) to have for lunch... it's tyranny by majority.

We have a republic form of government for good reason: to protect the rights of the absolute smallest minority, the individual. We have a republic in order to ensure that the majority cannot legally and lawfully impose their will on the least among us. We have a democratic process, but individual inalienable natural rights are built into that democratic process, and are prohibited -- every by majority vote.

Well, that's how it's supposed to work anyway.

Fake news....again. In the fashion used by trump, fake news IS fake news.

Since the dawn of CNN and the following explosion of other crap 24 hour cable news services (Fox News, MSNBC, et al) people have learned that they really, really like to have their news given to them in op/ed format rather than "just the facts, ma'am". People, based on how much they LOVE Fox News and CNN, now demand that their news being way more opinion based than fact based. They love it so much that they've taken to calling anything they don't like "fake news".

The news isn't fake. The news is exactly what you want it to be. Exaggerated and slanted to fit into the myopic, yet perfect square viewers now want it in. The other news programs, newspapers, etc., were forced to join in on this ridiculous, yet beloved new "news reporting" or risk being ignored. Now, here we are. I don't like what this article says, so it must be fake news. No it isn't.

The news isn't fake. It's simply been repackaged to appeal to a core conservative or liberal base who want their news altered to fit views rather than facts. And that's exactly the way the country wants it. None of the asinine programs on Fox News or CNN would exist if people made the rational decision to walk away from cable news networks completely.

Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right, from the frame of their nature, to knowledge, as their great Creator, who does nothing in vain, has given them understandings, and a desire to know; but besides this, they have a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge, I mean, of the characters and conduct of their rulers. Rulers are no more than attorneys, agents, and trustees, of the people; and if the cause, the interest, and trust, is insidiously betrayed, or wantonly trifled away, the people have a right to revoke the authority that they themselves have deputed, and to constitute other and better agents, attorneys and trustees

This is paranoid bull#. The government doesn't control the media.

YET...
But keep supporting the suppression of the media because they say negative (and true) things about you. That is a good start to what you claim.
