there are thousands of others who work themselves into divorce, illness, and an early grave to provide products

How can you say this and still support the corporate system?! It is corrupt, inhuman, destructive and evil as you just proved.

As long as humans are in control, every system will have corruption.
It's our nature.

Corrupt humans affect systems.

That will be your choice. Others will kindly accept the 10x pay

Really? People will accept the responsibility of 190,000 people? The level of nativity when it comes to the "rock stars" of business is astounding. People can accept Lebron becoming a billionaire playing basketball, but they do not accept the Lebrons of business as the same.

If you complained that Lebron makes more than 10x the person selling food is wrong I might respect your beliefs, but you need to think about there are a lot of Lebrons in many areas outside of basketball, but they don't make Lebron wages, though they are rich...

So explain to me how is any of this different?

No exceptions. If a person has to work 40 years to earn retirement then someone earning 10x only has to work 4 years to receive equivalent income. Someone reviving 300x only has to work less than 2 months. That's ludicrous.

The CEO-To-Worker Pay Ratio has ballooned over 1000 Percent since 1950 here. So in 1950's it was 20-to-1.

In the next 10 years it will balloon to 1000 to 1 and people will still argue the point that they worth it. Stress etc.

So everybody should abide under the same rule. 10x max for the top dog.

The kind of incentive your ego needs, signifies the greed of your ego and nothing else - I am important, I need multiple houses, multiple cars, to live a life of excess regardless the people begging for food in this world. With that kind of thinking we end up with companies like the tobacco industries, companies like monsanto, that kill rather than reward society. Greed is everything, nothing else is a concern.

The world cannot continue on its present course. Countries are relying on debt to continue with excesses that the world can no longer afford. Either the poorer will have to do without food or the richer without excesses. They are the only two options.

Working to earn something for yourself isn't greed. Demanding something someone else has just because you want it is the very definition of greed.

It costs tens of thousands of dollars to start a business, and 80% of businesses fail within a few years. Plus I have to pay child support, medical and a mortgage, so I can't throw away all my money on a massive risk.

Excuses.

All of those are excuses. Every single one.

I started my company on $500. About $100 went toward licensing. I used a spare room in my house to do the work. My living room was my meeting room. The rest went to supplies. I bought a small copier on credit and payed it off in 30 days. After a year, I was able to move to a better location and was making some pretty nice coin. After 5 years, I started looking into going national via a mail order service that didn't exist yet.

After ten years, health problems forced me to close the doors. Had that not happened, I would still be riding that wave.

You decided to have a kid you couldn't afford. No CEO made you do that.

Everyone has medical expenses.

Well over 90% of people have a mortgage.

The simple, hard truth is you aren't willing to do what it takes. You won't take the risk. You won't press forward. You won't go that extra mile. And that means you don't get the big bucks. Worse, because you won't do what others are willing to do, you sit there and cry for someone to pass a law that says you don't have to.

Guess what? I'm freakin' broke. I am having plenty of medical problems myself, primarily heart disease. I might die tomorrow. But I am not complaining; I am trying to start some projects to make income and get back into the game. I'm taking some pretty big risks to do that, but I have faith in my abilities. I took one not long ago: I went back to school and wound up graduating with honors from one of the toughest majors they offer at one of the toughest schools in the nation. And I did it with zero student debt.

So I don't want to hear your excuses. If you can't stand the heat, quit crying for everyone else to stop cooking... go sit under the air conditioner.

Yes, corporatism is corrupt by its nature and has massively corrupted our society in almost every area.

You are correct. The change was the MBA idiots who came out of universities in the 70s and 80s and took over running companies from the founders. They simply used numbers to manage and cared not for the staff of the company. Then many of these companies went public and MBAs cashed out. Thus starting the cycle we are currently in. The entire mindset of the MBA programs in those eras were - turn a profit, sell or go public. No thought to leadership, people or longevity.

There's a great book called Excellence Without a Soul which chronicles how the idiot Harvard and other ivy league MBAs caused the 2008 crisis in the name of money.

and 80% of businesses fail

Common urban myth. Most small businesses do ok or well enough to survive many years and are sold or shutdown intentionally.

Economic systems are not evil.

And I would even include communism and socialism in that mix.

Economic systems are like handguns.

It is HOW they are used and misused that causes so much trouble.

To call capitalism evil is like calling a firearm evil.

It might work on those who don't think too deeply, but smarter people know better.

No system is innately corrupt. It's the people within that system.

If you want a nanny state, just say so. It'd save you a lot of time.

No, they don't have to do it.

Yes, it's conspicuous consumption, and much of it is tacky to an extreme level. So? It's their money, to with as they please in whatever legal manner they choose. It's not something I'd do, but if others want to do it, I don't care enough to bother.

Your jealousy does you no favors. You ought to try to get over it.

Lol at all the jealousy in this thread.
I've been self employed for years and if I need a labourer for a job I'll pay whatever I can get away with to maximise my own income.
Nobody is forced to work for anyone else so stop whining and start your own socially responsible business if you don't like capitalism.
I'm surprised at the US members who are bitchin about the free market, seems like some would be better suited waving the red flag and joining their comrades in the socialist UK Labour party lol
If I ever make my millions then for sure I'm keeping as much of it for myself as I can.

You ready to cut Lebron's pay check down from 500,000 to 400 bucks per game, take his Nike endorsement down from 100 million to 400K?

Hmmm why don't you start a company turn it into a multi million dollar one and run your system? Sounds easy since all these idiots can do it...
