Being forced to buy a corporate product.

IS FASCSIM.

Because that is what healthcare is.

I agree. That is why many of us were pissed that Obama would take a Republican-created idea, the individual mandate, and force it on to the American people.

Democrats and Republicans both want to keep healthcare private because they are in bed with the insurance companies.

Medicare for all would be possible and cheaper.

theintercept.com...

There's no debate on this issue, or is it?

I rarely see government projects come in at projected cost. So just because someone came up with a number, I wouldn't say there is no debate. I'm not saying it isn't true, but we're speaking in hypotheticals here.

I have not been challenged to a debate. I did not claim sexism or run to a bubble to chant mindless slogans.

All I did was speak in broad terms just like you were.

You made a false accusation knowing I have not done any such thing.

You backed up Krazy who claimed "right wingers" make the false claim that socialist use the word free to describe their socialist programs. That was a lie.

You can claim that was a generalized statement, but nothing in that post indicates it was directed at anyone but me.

Yes there is. That's why I mentioned the "sexist catcalling" which directly referenced The Cortez/Shapiro incident.

Ok. But the Left did not claim it was "sexist cat calling". Cortez did.

Then the left said "Yeah shes right!"

Stop digging man, you're getting nowhere.

No one is stupid enough to believe that things can just be free. Of course it has to be paid for in some way. The way Bernie talks about is the way other countries handle college tuition. There is a way to do things so that there is no cost at the point of purchase.

Many, but not all of people are aware of that.

But there is also a large number of people who don't want to be dictated what we purchase by the government, and at their rates. This is the same Government who will do military contracts paying hundreds of dollars for a hammer, loads of laundry, run of the mill bolts and washers ect.

You're wasting your time on nuances like that. They don't care about nuance. Bernie said free therefore regardless of context that means socialism is for free stuff. That's standard conservative logic these days.

Or maybe its because they don't want to see medical innovations cease to happen? Most all of the medical innovations in the world come from the US. That's because lots of money is being spent. Without that R&D, who's going to make those advancements?

It reminds me of national defense. Europe is able to spend lots on social programs because the US takes up the slack with our big military budget. If something happens, they know we'll be there with our giant military, so they don't spend on theirs. It's the same with medicine. They dont have to spend money on R&D because the US is doing it.

So I ask again, if we aren't doing that who will? What you guys want is mediocrity the world over.

The most important issue in the medical world is keeping stock prices up for investors. What does that say about health care.

You seem to have a lot of hated for your political opposition? Who is drilling that in to your head? CNN, MSNBC? Some kind of leftist propaganda is teaching you to blindly hate.

Your claim was that it's "right wingers" who say socialist want free stuff, yet a simple google search shows the word "free" is commonly used by socialists. What does your misinformed opinions have to do with conservatives or right wingers?

Except for the fact the only function of health insurance is to pay for the hospital bills.

You know there is actually a good reason for that right? Many government equipment has to be specialized or designed for certain uses. Plus much of what the government (especially the military) pays for can't be bought in a store. There is no market set for supply and demand (you can't walk into a Wal-mart and buy a fighter jet helmet for instance). So, since the government sits outside of the standard market they have contractors make bids, then the government chooses the lowest. This can translate to cases like the infamous $600 toilet seat from the 1980's, but that's just a small consequence of that policy.

It was clear I was speaking in general terms. You did not make it clear.

That was not a lie. Look at what he posted and the context in which it was said.

Please show me where a socialist has ever said the program was free. (IE no costs to run the program)

Yes there is. That's why I mentioned the "sexist catcalling" which directly referenced The Cortez/Shapiro incident.

Yes, an incident I made no claims as you stated, but you claimed I did.

Perhaps you just need to learn better ways to express yourself. The language you used did not indicate a generalized statement.

Then the left said "Yeah shes right!" Stop digging man, you're getting nowhere.

So they did not say what you claimed.

Ok. You are changing your argument a bit.

You wouldn't have to do that if you didn't make up lies, or had better control over the things you say.

Lol. It's hilarious how you say this with absolutely ZERO irony in a thread of which is entirely hateful towards liberals and Democrats.

Google search: Socialiam free
Looks like a few right wing sources trying to play the "Socialists want free stuff! HERP DERP!" card along with some informative posts about how Socialism works, and finally some news sources that happen to contain Socialism in them.

Sorry, I don't see what you are talking about. Perhaps you should prove your own point?

Exactly. It has to be taken out of context in order for that "free" argument to hold any water.

That's just platitudes and meaningless dribble.

Many innovations come from state-funded medical universities.

Yes, and I'm aware of that, I'm talking about regular items though, not specialized.

The Pentagon has already awarded Halliburton Co., the controversial military contractor, deals worth up to $18 billion for its work in Iraq. But now former Halliburton insiders have come forward with new allegations of massive waste of taxpayer money.

DeYoung produced documents detailing alleged waste even on routine services: $50,000 a month for soda, at $45 a case; $1 million a month to clean clothes — or $100 for each 15-pound bag of laundry.

Both deYoung and West have since left the company. Pentagon documents obtained by NBC News support the whistleblowers' charges. In December auditors complained of Halliburton's "serious deficiencies," including "lack of cost control and cost consciousness." Some examples:
- Purchase of hundreds of high-end SUVs and pickups, loaded with options like CD players, which "most KBR employees do not need."
- "Duplication ... and gold-plating" in purchases of computers and high-tech equipment.
- Halliburton employees living in 5-star hotels.

NBC

This isn't the only instance, just a good and recent example.
