In 2017, 71 % of women in the workforce are MOTHERS. Nothing to do with abortion.

LOL Like mothers don't have abortions!

Women with children have more abortions than anyone else, and by an increasingly wide margin.

"Clinton claimed the infamous U.S. Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade was a good thing, not only because it gave women the “dignity to make our own choices,” but also because it led to a $3.5 trillion boost to America’s economy.

“It is not a disconnected fact … that American women entering the labor force from 1973 to 2009 added three and a half trillion dollars to our economy. Right?” "

I don't have a problem with those statements. Do you have a problem with those statements? Why do you think that reproductive freedom didn't have anything to do with women being able to enter the work force and add trillions of dollars to the economy?

The only thing I would add to Clinton's statements is the previous SCOTUS rulings allowing women access to contraception.

I can't argue that women's access to contraception and abortion directly contributed to the economy. But, I would also add that it was women's will, through suffrage, that first paved the inevitable path to women claiming their freedom from from unwanted pregnancies, that allowed the economy to explode because of women suddenly being able to enter in the work force.

Chelsea's statement is FALSE.
Abortion has nothing to do with women entering the workforce.
Chelsea provided ZERO sources.

Just stop and think, for a moment.
Think.

I will repeat what I said above. Chelsea falsely links abortion to women in the workforce. In her pea brain, no abortion= no women in the work force.
False.
Totally.

BS

I'm 72. I know what it was like before the pill, and before legal abortion.

Both gave women freedom of independence.

Women needed that freedom first -- because the fight for equality and better jobs came next.

I know. I actually lived it.

BTW -- provide links to your statistics.

Go ahead, have as many abortions as you like. I'm not taking it away from you, or anything else.
Darwin is good.

Read again, SLOWLY, my comment against your idiot Chelsea.

1. Chelsea FALSELY claimed abortion tied to women entering the workforce, to the tune of creating $3.2 Trillion in activity - unsourced btw.

2. Less than 25% of women have an abortion by age 45, even today. www.guttmacher.org...

3. Working Moms are the Norm. Seventy percent of mothers with children under 18 participate in the labor force, with over 75 percent employed full-time. blog.dol.gov... And this, despite only 25% of women getting abortions.

4. Overall, as of 2014, nearly six in ten women aged 16 and older (57.0 percent) worked outside the home (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics 2015a) - 60% statusofwomendata.org...

5. Participation of women in the workforce in Ireland, where abortion is illegal, is about the same at 59.5%.
www.cso.ie...

Conclusion: abortion has ZERO impact, positive or negative, on women participation in the workforce.
Chelsea is a lying, fact-free AIRHEAD.

Deliberately omitting stats I JUST GAVE YOU ABOVE:

-> Less than 25% of ALL women have an abortion by age 45, even today. www.guttmacher.org... and Guttmacher is the original source quoted by Slate.

Deliberately omitting info I just posted above to try to win your argument won't win you anything, and exposes you as anything but an Einstein.

Go ahead.
Have as many abortions as you like.

But there is NO LINK between abortions and women entering the workforce.

If you can’t convince someone to support abortion with bodily rights arguments, try pushing the money angle, Chelsea Clinton told a group of abortion activists Saturday. ext

The Clinton's have always been really good at" pushing the money angle"..why should this be any different.

I'm not sure we can call women who have abortions mothers really.....that could be somewhat of a semantics problem.... anyway, yes many women in the workforce are mothers who actually have their babies and find ways to have them cared for while they go to work. Some solutions are "work at home", babysitters, day care, grandmas, and yes even dads. Hollywood even made a movie featuring a dad who stayed home with the kids....I forget the name at present. Even in the 80's, I managed to work.... the company installed a modem and monitor in my home so I could do stuff in my home while watching baby.

Yes, abortions do make it somewhat easier, but it is too bad that we view mommyhood in such ways that we value a job over life. If we taught our children the value of life instead of presenting abortion as an easy fix and birth control method, we would be much better off.
Now, Hillary wanted Universal pre k to promote women in the work force, and that's ok to some degree except it's a socialist solution will not work.... because socialism doesn't work..... but Hillary believes that the State owns the children, in fact she supports the UN Treaty Rights of the Child, which strips parental rights. You know, "It Takes A Village" and all that rot! She is not for the family. But then what Marxist is. I remember the Saddleback Forum when the candidate Obama said that one of the things that bothers him most is the parents abusing their children. Sounds like he is an advocate for children right? Just like Hillary? And yet he is Marxist as they come.... I saw through that right away, as he views it the responsibility of the State to educate kindergartners in "age appropriate sex ed". When I heard Obama say that about Kindergarten sex ed was the very moment I decided I could not and would not ever support him in any way whatsoever and I was forever immune to his "charms". Anyway, these Deep State operatives are good at making statements which on the surface sound good, but they are diabolical in their intent.

WTF? Women who already have children are getting more abortions than women who don't. That's a fact. They are mothers, whether you agree with their decisions or not!

Yeah for you! /sarc

This isn't about you, no matter how hard you try to hold yourself up as the stalwart of feminine morality.

Besides, I'll bet dollars to donuts you were raised Catholic, and probably still are. So don't talk to me about the "Deep State"! Shees, nothing deeper state than the church.

Re-Read stats I gave you above.
"5. Participation of women in the workforce in Ireland, where abortion is illegal, is about the same at 59.5%.
www.cso.ie... "

Even in Ireland, where there is NO ABORTION, women's share of the workforce is about the same as the US.

NO ABORTION BUT SIMILAR WOMEN PARTICIPATION IN WORKFORCE.

God, you're stupid.

Your responses are so low IQ .. Chelsea, is that you ?....

First of all, you can't compare Ireland's economy with the USA's! LOL

Secondly, women in Ireland have access to contraception, which I have specifically said is basic to women's ability to contribute to the economy. And third, women of Ireland only needed to go to Scotland, or anywhere else in the UK to procure an abortion, and have been able to do that since 1967! Don't underestimate the power of a woman's choice.

Working Moms are the Norm In the USA
Seventy percent of mothers with children under 18 participate in the labor force, with over 75 percent employed full-time.
Mothers are the primary or sole earners for 40 percent of households with children under 18 today, compared with 11 percent in 1960.
blog.dol.gov...

Working moms ARE the norm is the USA. Also, in the USA, staistics show that women who already have children make up the highest percentage of women who get on demand abortions.

BUT...

(In Ireland) High percentage of women decline to return to work after third child

Irish women are less likely than many of their EU peers to continue working after having a second or third child, new figures have revealed.

Despite your ranting drivel in off topics, you still have not proven Chelsea's point that abortions are responsible for women in the workforce. NO LINKING STATISTIC

I have given you the example of Ireland ( which is a modern economy, despite your ignorance) where there is no abortion and THE LABOR PARTICIPATION OF WOMEN IN IRELAND IS NEARLY THE SAME AS THE US AND I EVEN GAVE YOU THE LINK.

I have also given you the stats for the US, where over 70% of women, the VAST MAJORITY, do not get an abortion but still work.
Google "cause and effect".

Q.E.D.

Look, Chelsea's an idiot.
Deal with it.

Irish women are not trapped behind some kind of iron curtain. If they want an abortion they cross the border to Scotland or go to UK, where socialized medicine covers their bill. So, your theory is invalid.

You're fighting windmills, Don Quixote!

There is no doubt that the advent of women's access to BOTH contraception and abortion have allowed women to flourish in the work place, both in the US and abroad, and has caused modern economies to boom.

Your hatred for Chelsea Clinton has no bearing on those facts.

No, Einstein.
Pay attention and stick with the topic of the thread.
FOCUS.

The object of this thread is that Chelsea made the false assertion that abortion was responsible for women participation in the workforce, e.g. she claims no abortion, no participation in workforce.

I proved that this is false because;
1- even in the US, most women don't get abortions but still participate in the workforce
2- in Ireland, where abortion is illegal, women's participation in the workforce is comparable to the US
3- I could also have given you the example of Poland, where abortion is also largely illegal, but women participation in the workforce follows OECD average and the US. In fact, more young women than young men have college degrees despite there being no abortion.

No abortion but women labor force participation similar to US = NO LINK
AGAIN.
No abortion but women labor force participation similar to US = NO LINK.
Capiche ?
Do you even get the most basic concepts of cause and effect ?

Facts and deductive reasoning, there is NO LINK between abortion and women in the workforce, and despite your best efforts at covering for Chelsea, she is wrong.

Deal with it, again.
