Somebody is Always listening these days. During the recent Q400 incident Oregon Air National Guard F-15Cs that are tasked with defending the Pacific
Northwest launched to intercept the stolen plane. They had to use afterburners to catch up with the plane quickly and needed fuel to stay airborne or
they would have to land.
A pair of KC-46 tankers on a test flight offered to provide fuel to the Eagles in the event another tanker could not make it in time. As the article
notes it would have been the first time that an F-15 had tanked with a KC-46 test or otherwise. A KC-135 eventually saved the day but its cool to see
everybody trying to help out in what was a chaotic situation.
