Ever since the troll and chief was elected I have noticed a trend of people bragging about being trolls and/or trolling..

Well in my day trolls were garbage cowards playing tough guy behind a keyboard...

So how long do y’all think this trend continues??

Maybe until the deranged Leftists find a cure for their mental illness.

in my day, Trolls were creatures the D&D kids talked about. The internet wasn't there, we did stuff outside, and met folks from the next town. And we didn't give a rats ass what some pasty face vegan from LA thinks about us. But we are progressing, so there is that.

In my day we didn’t have keyboards.

And, we still had trolls...

Nah, it's been that way for a long time. Politically since the dawn of the internet there have been trolls. It's just easier to see them now.

There's a line that we're crossing now though, from trolling to becoming hateful and angry.

And it's not just political. Look at the firestorm and issues surrounding gamergate for just one small example. It seems like it's not enough to insult or make fun of people, now they have to threaten and hurt them.

In my day we ate onions raw and called them fire-bananas!

And maybe it's not trolling so much as we are just sick of pandering and PC crap.

I don't know if the thread itself is an example of trolling or this reply is a better example?

Hold on, are you saying that Trump introduced the concept of trolling being cool?

Look, he may very well be the worlds #1 troll, and in having that accolade, he naturally brings out all the other trolls who try to become someone who gets their 15mins of fame whilst under his tweet.

Now, in my day, we didn't have keyboards. All trolling was done via newspapers or face to face.

Imagine living in a world like that?

Also, what is 'trolling' exactly?

For example, did you see Hillarys "but my emails" hyper-troll tweet the other month?

Horses for courses.

'Cool' is most certainly in the eye of the beholder/reader.

In my day if someone wanted to troll.

They had to use smoke signals.

And wait for it to reach the jet stream to be carried all over the world.

Progress created the trollnet.

Seems as if you are doing pretty well yourself, giving us lessons. What I have seen is people calling others trolls when someone else disagrees with them. It's like calling someone racist when you don't have any good counter arguments.

Quoted for Irony and Hilarity.

One of the three biggest political trollers on ATS wondering when it became cool to troll.

Hint... it stopped being cool about the time you started...

“a hideous hermaphroditical character which has neither the force and firmness of a man, not the gentleness and sensibility of a woman.”

That was said about John Adams. That’s some trolling
