There are various forms of socialism. The bad one most people think about is leninism or stalinism. Where the government controlled every single aspect of every day life right down to the clothes everyone would wear.

The ideal form of socialism is one that is built upon a strong capitalist economy(much like the one we have). Where every worker has the right to vote on every company policy, including fair wages and eh.ehm... company location.
This is what is meant when the abolishment of private property is brought up. Everyone still has personal property and it still has to be earned for the most part, but businesses have to be publicly shared whether it be through employee owned stocks or unions and full voting rights.

Local government would ultimately serve the same purpose as it does now concerning the well being of its citizens. Fire fighters, police, roads, water, sewage, etc... A few changes I would like to see to the current system are mandatory voting in all elections, those elected will create laws and regulations that the people then vote on.

Apply the same ideas to the federal government add universal healthcare and education and we will have a healthy and well educated workforce Which will in turn provide a healthy economy and the tax revenue needed to pay for said programs.

What do Ideals get us?
We can look at our recent past from Occupy to current.
Ideals have no basis in reality.

And if we were a socialist country you wouldn't have any student loans from those 3 degrees and would probably be making more than you are now and would have better benefits, but would still be personally responsible for feeding, clothing, and housing yourself. People need to understand we want actual democratic socialism not leninism which is the bad form of socialism where the government controls everything.

Working fine?

What part of the $21 trillion debt did you miss?

The biggest creation of that debt is that fabulous socialism.

BS... 19 trillion of that is in personal debt. Mostly mortgages and student loans.

Public debt is a completely different figure from personal debt. Student loans and mortgages are not included within it.

Ideals lead to aspirations, aspirations lead to goals, goals lead to progress, progress leads to success. Having such a negative attitude will only yield negative results

Success leads to capitalism.
You forgot the step to disprove your point. And disprove socialism.

My attitude is very positive. And as my invention will no longer effect my good friend who's invention I improved on, it's just a matter of insuring my work let's it belong to me. Before I cash in.

See, I work for a state government entity, so as socialists they can take my patent.

Unlike you I've actually been to socialist countries, so I have a real understanding instead of the propagandist, cartoonish mindviews that most of you have. America was closer to socialism in the past, and it was better overall. Now as we become more and more capitalist, our country is getting worse and worse. Anyone with a brain and an ounce of objectivity can see that, as well the end result which is oligarchy, then aristocracy, which is definitely tyrannical.

So you were already living in a socialist country but you came to USA. Why ?

You want the good form of socialism?

Ok, just like Pol Pot?

The issue is, the left want forced socialism. Those who do not comply, who do not relinquish their wealth, not relinquish their status, their class. Those who will not bend to the will of the new world order will be forced to bend.

So do you want the 'good' forced, or the 'bad' forced? Because I know which one you're gonna get. And if you don't think that YOU, you personally, won't fight against forced socialism when it comes to your doorstep, you're sadly mistaken. It will ruin your life and the lives of everyone you know.

Be very careful what you wish for. If a majority of the population wants socialism then that's what we'll get. So it's not a good idea to promote it.

Incidentally, if the majority of the population want islam then that's what you'll get. Islam.

Just because ideas seem 'cool at the time' or seem like they're 'bucking the system' doesn't mean you should support them. It's all been tried man. The system we have is very very far from perfect but it doesn't mean you should totally destroy it in every sense and start again with a new 'idea'. Civilisations and systems of government take many many generations to evolve. They cant be forced on a population.

And don't keep jumping off the same cliff. Socialism, not even once.

Capitalism and socialism are not mutually exclusive and in fact must coexist in order for socialism to work. You are confused a socialist government would not take your patent. That would be more like communism or leninism.

Socialism does not deny business creators the right to personal ownership of their creation. It ultimately denies them private ownership. Meaning It simply gives their co workers equal rights and the ability to take part in decisions that will effect everyone's well being. Prime example being that if we had a socialist economy American businesses would have never moved manufacturing overseas as the workers would have had the ability to vote against it.

They have a whole continent in Europe they can move to, but instead want to crap all over America. We need some place to be free of the socialists and failed European policies.

As oppose to capitalism, which is............. oh yeah, another failed European policy!

SURE THEY DO !!

Who wouldn't like a truck load of free stuff, so long as someone else is dumb enough to work at some kind of job and pay for it.

I know I would like to get free education, free health care, free food, free housing and a lot more free things.

The only thing I can see that could possibly go wrong with all this free stuff being given out is a thing which I was taught in Sunday school.

"The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away." The same could apply to the government. It could turnout that the state giveth and the state taketh away. I don't like the idea of that happening, so I'll just keep on working and earning the things I get. I think I have a better chance of keeping them that way.

HARD LEFT- New Poll Shows Most DEMOCRATS Prefer SOCIALISM to Capitalism

Democrats More Positive About Socialism Than Capitalism

Without reading much of the source poll (and I refuse to read anything written by that hack Hannity) I notice a distinct difference in the wording of the titles used. Also, the poll was behind two links. Hannity's site then Daily Caller. Of course both of them misrepresented the title of the poll. Yet that distinction between the titles tells me two different things. Almost like Hannity and the Daily Caller are spreading FAKE NEWS.

Socialism as it would really play out would give the government total control over everything. In this country, it would just be the front for corporate control. Can people be so naive that they can't see the difference between the ideology of socialism and the reality of what will play out? Does anyone really want the government managing your life any more than it does already?

This “anyone with a brain” talk destroys your cred. I have an iq of 131, 3 degrees, and make 6 figures. I think our system works. Then again I believe in self reliance and personal responsibility

Could you Achieve All those things under a Socialist System of Government ? No , Earning a 6 Figure Income would Pose a Threat to the State . The 3 Degrees would also Mark you as a Member of the Intelligencia , an Inevitable Thought Crime Advocate . You Sir would more that Likely in a Socialist State be either Imprisoned or Disappeared without a Trace . Thank God for Capitalism , it enables Individuals the Power of Economic Survival through Individual Effort..........

. Correct. That is why I’m on your side of the argument

This book (link below), None Dare Call It Conspiracy feels that Socialism will be used to ultimately put control into the hands of a few just like communism:

amarilloteaparty.net...

The John Birch Society also shares the same view.

I can think of nothing which will kill the spirit of inventing and developing a business quicker than this.

If I start a business and am then told, by the employees, how much I will pay them and when they will work, I won't be in business very long. So long as I am not abusive toward them and pay a reasonable wage for the work done; these decisions should be mine.

Why would anyone start up anything when they know it will not be of benefit to themselves to put forth the effort.

I find it funny that those wanting a socialist government style cannot point out how it is going to be paid for.

Yeah, sure, capitalism is a swell system that is being paid for, right?

WASHINGTON—The Trump administration expects the annual budget deficits to rise nearly $100 billion more than previously forecast in each of the next three years, pushing the federal deficit above $1 trillion starting next year. Linky

No problem.

Mexico has borders though, it takes it's southern border rather seriously from what I gather.
