I'd fully support this agenda. Balanced budget,TERM LIMITS for CONGRESS,repealing the federal income tax, and give states power to veto ANY federal law. If it actually comes to fruition, I think it could be one of the best things that has happened in modern times.

However, I am fully aware it could be just a ruse for a bait, and switch. Given the last two years of political theatre, and the lengths the losing side has gone to.

Somethings gotta give.

On the agenda for Convention of States: an amendment to require a balanced budget, term limits for congress, repealing the federal income tax and giving states the power to veto any federal law, supreme court decision or executive order with a three-fifths vote from the states.

What do you think people?

Considering how much the left hates Trump. They should like power reverted back to the states like that.

I'd love my home state to veto the Brady Handgun Prevention Act,and the machine gun ban.

I don't know.

Probably a pipe dream.

My fear as well. I heard ALEC was supporting, thus I am against it.

Yeah, Im on the fence...yes I want smaller government, more states rights, but as you said...bait and switch would be par for the course and all of a sudden we will be protecting our families with 2x4s

Bait and switch is right.

I wouldn't trust any of these rat bastards.

I just can't. If integrity had weight, congress would float away.

They screwed up. Year after year after year after year they promise and lie.

If "Bitch Slapping" was a form of greeting, I'd say "Hi" to each and every one of these asstards daily.

Like several others here, I’d say be careful what you wish for...once in play, not that hard to completely change or vote out longstanding constitutional rights “to keep the people safe”.

While the Congress critters know full well they will really mean to keep the sheep in check with NO means tonstop a run away government hell bent on globalism. First step - disarm the populace.

The left government members would only support this if THEY were the ones directing it all from behind the scenes. SO THEY COULD ABUSE IT, make it their own, for their own gain.

Then they would reinstate that lucrative income tax.

I can't see the right side government members like the "McCain" types, Paul Ryan types, and Mitch McConnell types liking this either.

Giving power and freedom and wealth back to the people who should actually have it is a big NO-NO for all of these people.

I am all for this.

It's the only sane alternative.

We’re either going to become a socialist, Marxist country like western Europe, or we’re going to be free.

That about sums it up.

Who is ALEC?

ALEC is a corporate lobbying group that brings together corporate lobbyists and politicians to vote on “model bills” behind closed doors as equals, without any public input, that often benefit the corporations’ bottom line. These model bills are then introduced in state legislatures across the country.

I didn't get this from a website but a bing search so no link. But if you type into Bing "alec group" that is what pops up. So hell no! If they are the ones pushing for this, I'm out!

It’s funny they don’t want to address any of the actual institutional problems that matter..

A) Term limits only matter because we are allowing corporations and big donors to buy and sell politicians..

If you ban lobbying it doesn’t matter how long they stay in office.. they are still only accountable to their voters..

B) speaking of term limits..

Term limits don’t stop the new ones from being paid off, lol..

Hell the new ones are probably way cheaper to pay off just like with anything else..

If you pay for a rookie electrician it is cheaper than paying for a master electrician.. it seems to me it would be way cheaper to pay off a rookie congressman..

C) thank god state law doesn’t trump federal law..

Slavery would still be legal..

Segregation would still be legal..

Women still couldn’t vote in some states..

Child labor laws..

EPA regulations like clean air and water stuff.

No draft could be maintained if needed,.

Everything you listed are symptoms of the corruption that no republican has ever even mentioned it existed..

I am for it, but like everyone else has mentioned Bait and switch is almost certainly what will happen.

IF we had some way to get the current crop of corrupt SOB's out of the loop we might stand a chance.

Too many Globalist Progressive RINO's & lukewarm conservatives that would fold to a good "bribe" to risk that unless it was absolutely necessary.

BWAHAHAHA!!!

You think federal regulation stops good paying jobs?!?!

Oh that is rich...

I’m sure all the corporations would just decide to pay decent wages of their own free will out of the goodness of their heats..

God knows they are in the buisness of paying decent wages, not to make the maximum profit by throwing cheap labor at whatever problem..

Tariffs,land leases,gas taxes, and others.

The way it use to.

They would have to tighten their belt though.

Which is exactly the point.

lets see, it did for more than a century, without income tax anyway.

Why do you want to give away all your hard earned wages for $300 dollar hammers? Or, dont you have a job of your own? Well, besides what you do here that is

we get it, you think having people in office for 30+ years over a declining economy=good for the people.

Some of us think the problem with the federal govt is the fact these people are there for 30+ years, its easy to say no to a bribe over a short period of time, but the longer you are there the higher the likely hood you become corrupt and part of the problem.

Also even if they take the bribe first try, they are gone in a couple years and TPTB must buy someone new.
