I would be as rude as possible, since you have already judged her. Old, toothless and a busybody.

Then, when you are old and alone and need help, remember what you did.

I am a firm believer in karma, you see....

let her use my phone to call them herself probably???

but then, I've been the one labeled the strange one in the neighborhood, so I can relate to having people making weird judgements about me based solely on my strangeness.

well she is old, only has 1 tooth and seems to like to call the cops.
that is what i said

a spot you dont own is no reason to call

a sister who took your license is no reason to call

better yet it is no reason for me to call

if she was old busted up cause her 1 tooth old man busted her up i would call

i dont like people knocking at my door.

she should get one of those free government phones for the old folk fer when her sister jacks her #.

Can easily see myself asking her "Are you okay?" before sending her away. To each their own.

Yea, imagine his parents being judged and treated that way. Guess we will have to wait for that rant to be posted?

Sounds like the poor old woman is dealing with senility or Alzheimer's.

No I wouldn't!

I also wouldn't jump on ATS and show my intolerance for old people who are at the end of their time making fun of them! Do you have bullet ready to stop you from getting old? If not, I suggest you get one! God forbid some young hipster treats you like that right?

I'd have let her use my phone and probably chatted to her to try understand her situation as a neighbour.
I don't mix much with people on my street but stop and chat when I see them.
I will always help if asked though, and if someone is distressed enough to knock a stranger neighbour's door (mine) then I will assist because who knows what issues they may be going through.
I'm quite passionate about people and community in 'real' life though.

not intolerant cause she is old
make fun of her cause i make fun of everyone

intolerant cause she knocked on my door for some bull#. amplify that for threatening to call the cops on my kid.

again. i think youre being super sensitive.

and i came on to see if others would so i can graph my reaction to the situation vs normal people.

cornish, thats grand of you. not making fun.
that is probably the thing to do.

i cant do it

knocking on my door stresses me out enough. no way i can have a conversation with her and letting her in the house is not going to happen.

my daughters friend comes over with her mom some nights and my skin crawls the entire time cause these people are in my house. makes me very anxious

I am calling it as I see it. If you think calling me "sensitive" is hurtful in any way, it isn't.

I hope your parents live in a neighbor hood with people more tolerant than you. Both of my parents are in their 80's and neither one of their minds are like those of us who still have control of our mental faculties, and I would hope any of their neighbors OR the police would contact me if they got to the point apparently this woman is at.

But you? Nah, she has one tooth and wears a moo moo. I sure as hell hope your parents are treated with more respect by their neighbors than how you treated this old lady.

Then pay attention to what we are saying.

ok

1 tooth and a moo moo.
yup

also threatened to call the cops on my kid for a non issue and having your license taken by your sister is no reason to get the neighbors involved.

you wouldnt call the cops. i didnt call the cops.
youre just trying to pick at some # cause i made fun of her.

her appearance has nothing to do with me not calling either.

neighbors getting involved are for emergencies.
friends with the neighbor. thats different

this kind of #

I kinda guessed that from the OP which is why I didn't criticise

I have a mate similar, he won't answer the door unless you phone first.
But the rest of my friends we just knock doors freely, and with many the rule is you can just walk in if the door is unlocked. Same rules in my house.
The only people I shoo away from my door are people trying to sell me something, be it a product or religion, or whatever.

Maybe the old lady has some issues going on (age related mental health), you never know, next time you bump into her try a friendly smile and some chit chat, could avoid her kicking off about parking next time if you can break the ice.
I don't know man, but our neighbours are our community...and the old lady could one day be the one who sees your car being broken into and come tell you. I've got an old lady across the street from me like that, I call her my silver security she's got such a beady eye from behind those twitching curtains lol

Id likely call them to say a deranged old woman is on the loose in the neighborhood and they probably ought to do a wellness check.

She can then rat out her sister herself.
