Folks feeling the pain all over, and it's not getting better:

COLUMBIA, SC - Beleaguered Fairfield County is losing another 126 jobs after TV-maker Element Electronics said Monday it will close its Winnsboro plant in response to tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.

In a letter to the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce obtained by The State, Element wrote “the layoff and closure is a result of the new tariffs that were recently and unexpectedly imposed on many goods imported from China, including the key television components used in our assembly operations in Winnsboro.”

Element said it hoped the closure would be temporary, adding the plant could “re-open in three to six months, but we cannot predict this with any certainty at this time.” The company said layoffs would begin in October.

The State

The loss comes after many others. The farmers are suffering like anything and last month the Administration had to announce financial assistance for them to the tune of $12 billion. A bail-out that had some farmers barking and claiming it was bandage.

Harley Davidson, announced jobs shipped aboard due to tariffs.

American automakers cutting costs to cope with the rising supply costs. General Motors still plans to build its Chevrolet Blazer in Mexico for export to the United States despite the Tariffs.

A Missouri-based Mid Continent Nail Corporation could potentially cut 500 jobs as a result of the tariffs.

These aren't isolated cases, more more companies are feeling the pinch of the tariff war.

Meanwhile what of the other nations? China just slapped another $16 billion worth of Tariffs on American goods.

For a county the size of Fairfield, it's a massive loss.

It's easy to blame your failed business on Trump nowadays.

Just a heads up, steel and aluminum aren't used in TV's (well maybe a TINY bit of aluminum)

People used to take notice of why their business failed, nowadays they blame Trump and get headlines.

FYI, it's NOT Trump, it's their business...

Yes, all Trump did was cause new sky high taxes to be imposed on their foreign shipments and imports. But it's their fault right?

Funnily enough South Carolina will still go deep red for Trump in 2020. This is the State with a history of threatening secession over tariffs.

Interesting.

You can look at any state in the country, and pick what fits your narrative. Democrats need to be more creative, LOL.

What do they import that was subject to tariffs?

Query that to the source bud. I'm delivering the message. You've clearly already made your mind up though so it's kind of pointless.

I'm simply questioning the message, you know, trying to deny ignorance.

You provided the message, standard operations here on ATS would incur you to also back said claims with evidence, not articles.

But w/e, filling out your resume nicely.

Yeah, it's very interesting... the countries that Trump slapped tariffs on are retaliating by putting levies on US products that will specifically hurt Trumps core base.

What about that 500 million plant that made solar panels, was it trumps fault or just a ploy in discise as a payback (bribe) for obama, and nothing much was said about it either, unreal.

The OP is known for trawling news sites for any business that closes and parroting MSM to try and blame Trump.
I am not sure whether they are stupid and actually think no businesses will ever close in a great economy or are just still too upset over the 2016 election to think straight... maybe both.

Care to elaborate, or are you just contributing a one-liner?

Because that statement is patently false.

It'll to interesting to see how loyal Trumps supporters remain, once this trade war starts negatively effecting them personally.

What was "false" about it?

This company has been caught lying to consumers and it hurt them in the US market. The assembly plant in South Carolina isn't really an assembly plant but more of a shipping destination for Chinese TVs. The reason they are being hurt is they buy TVs from China and repackage them under their brand name. They have a problem as well the motherboard tends to overheat so the tv goes black screen and you have to reset it to get the picture back.

English please, if you're going to incoherently rant, just say so, so we know to make sense of the gibberish you speak.

What was "false" about it?

You made a claim, YOU prove it to be truth.
