Obama inherited a headache, and that depressed his beginning numbers. That is true. But the economy also stagnated under his entire term. He never hit a year with 3% growth, which had never happened before (Trump missed last year, his first, too -- are you as comfortable blaming that on the previous administration?)

GDP
$14.72T in 2008
$18.62T in 2016

Or $3.9T growth in eight years of his Presidency.

Obama's last six years (we'll blame the drop in 2009's GDP completely on Bush for convenience) still is only $4.2T expansion in six years.

Under Trump in contrast, the GDP has grown $1.78T from the 2016 number in a year and a half. And the rate for the last quarter (not full year, true) was over 4%.

I'm still not sure why anyone is proud of the Obama numbers...

So everything else besides the approval rating was spot on?

Context is important. You understand the figures in that poll relate to comparable years of both Obama and Trump? You understand as well that Obama assumed office following the worst financial crises since the recession and took on high unemployment figures from the Bush Administration. Or is this all way over your head?

Christ.

It's over all the Trumps groupies heads methinks. I was watching the news the other day (and not all news is fake news USA) it was the announcement of Trumps presidency that made wall street and investor confidence plummet, yes it has recovered but still has not made parity.

I remember in the GFC all the right wingers all over the globe were blaming the left for it and was a basis for their campaigns. It was baseless, I compare it to accusing your next door neighbor of stealing your newspaper while another neighbors' dog is chewing on it in the backyard.

To be fair obama did have to deal with a damaged economy. People dont realize how badly the economy was damaged under Bush. And oddly wasnt even his fault 9/11 removed 3.3 trillion dollars from the US economy in one day.

Now Obama by the time he takes over the economy was in recovery but anaemic. Unfortunately Obamas attempts to spark the economy didnt do well because his ideas where to flood cash into markets. Having rhe government pay companies is never going to help in fact in the end most if his investments failed.

So what did Trump do that made a difference hes cut regulations. For decades regulations kept be added to businesses each regulation cost company's more and more. The Tax cut helped as well giving companies extra cash for investment's.

You know the economy is doing well when Obama is trying to take credit for it.

This is another great thread for many reasons! Let's keep it front/top/center. MORE MORE PLEASE!

NO! Let's get ATS back to the bastion of Alternative News, Cryptozoology, Space Stuff and Conspiracy Theories it once was.

LESS, LESS, LESS GAWDAMMIT!!!

The way things are going every Trump thread, whether pro or con, will wind up in the Mudpit, the sooner the better I say...

Donald Who?

Obama's approval ratings at this time his second year in office was at 45% (per Gallup, the source used in the graphic). In just a couple short weeks, though, his rating will drop to 43%, capping off a very steep decline from a ridiculous high of 67% from his first week in office.

Contrast that with Trump's approval ratings (Gallup again, for consistency), and he was comes in right at 40%, but has been on a relatively slow and steady increase since fall of last year.

Obviously, we have yet to see the future of Trump's approval ratings, but it bears noting that the bulk of Obama's tenure found him hovering in the 40-percentile of approval ratings. While Trump has had a rough start, no matter who or which entities you blame, he's been heading in the right direction versus Obama.

In Obama's first year, he dropped a total of 18% in his approval. The next eight months found him lose another four percentage points. That is a net loss of 22%.

In Trump's first year, he dropped a total of 9% in his approval. The next eight months found him gain 5 percentage points. That is a net loss of 4%.

Trump is also on the rise, like I noted, versus Obamas continual fall at this point.

Now, I'm not dismissing the silliness surrounding sharing an obviously doctored photo, but since you tried to negate some points made by noting that Obama inherited this or that economy versus Trump, we can at least acknowledge that, barring a heavily forced campaign by the media to report only negatively on Trump versus how they reported on Obama, the president alone is responsible for his approval ratings--there is no inheritance of that.

When you look at the two presidencies overall by approval rating trends (since that's what this is about), Trump looks much better than Obama so far into the first term of their presidencies.

Oh yah, and what made the stock market plummet in October of 2008???
Methinks you don't have the right answers. Actually it started in September. But of course you think the whole subprime mortgage and fannie mae and Lehman Bros disaster was the fault of Bush and the GOP..... you must have missed the part where Barney Frank buffed his girly nails on tv while presiding over that fannie mae mess. It shows how much you don't know about whats been going on. You might like to read Michael Savage's book where he explains the high level fund managers took advantage of the uptick rule and raided the market. But who needs those details right?

Don Jnr deleted the post by the way - 12 hours after being exposed. The irony of this (and the hypocrisy, let's not forget hypocrisy) transcends time and reality folks. We're in a totally different world created by Trump and company, where alternative facts exist and polls are only relevant when posted and praised by those in the administration. But hey hey.... devils advocate here.... there have been some polls looking up for ol' Trump. Rasmussen put him at 50%, that Republican friendly polster ya know? And maybe Donny Jnr genuinely had no clue it was obviously photoshopped? But then again him posting polls to bolster daddy's popularity on social media?

Likely, what happened is that someone shared this photoshopped fake and Don Jr took it to be true. Wow, so sue him that he thought it was true. Maybe we should send Don Jr. to fake Photoshop class!??? Huh!!!??? Social Media is full of this crap, so I'm not surprised something made it past the bullcrap filter. Or maybe Don Jr. just wanted the snowflakes out there to create forum threads over this and laugh. So maybe he really punked YOU! LOL!!

Oh, and unlike the media, he retracted and corrected his mistake by removing it. Care to go on CNN.com and see how much bullcrap and fake news about Trump gets removed!?? Oh, the hypocrisy!!!!!! Let's not forget hypocrisy!!!!!!!!!!!

I have an idea. Maybe I should start a thread of how Don Jr. got punk, then punked you and then how ATS was forced to read yet another silly thread about how some snowflake is still triggered over the election. Har, har, har!

Remember, the same folks that are doing the Trump "approval" rating gave Hillary a 98% chance of winning so who cares what they say. I have never been very political but every time I see a biased Trump bashing article I dislike the democratic party and their pseudo liberal stance a little more each time.

#WalkAway. I couldn't stomach the DemWits the last time around and walked away. Hillary was a poor choice. And now they're floating a balloon for Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Jeez, with Argentina on the ropes you'd think the DemWits would learn, but NOOOOO.

Democrats control Chicago and look what a mess that place is. I'd rather vacation in Beirut.
