Very first sentence:

Consider a few facts: Donald Trump is in the White House, despite winning almost three million fewer votes than Hillary Clinton.

I stopped reading.

Build whatever fantasy land you wish to live but don't expect me to participate. They wish to construct an entire new reality and given that they are still in business, there are folks that buy into it.

Statements of fact make you stop reading?

Inconsequential ranting does.

What the left is doing is building a narrative, building a case for a coup.

The title of your article. . .

Think the Constitution Will Save Us? Think Again
The subversion of democracy was the explicit intent of the framers.

They are openly endorsing a coup.

What many of us have been saying for quite some time.

The left hates the Constitution, hates the freedoms it guarantees, and wants a coup.

QED

But the US is a republic, its not actually a democracy.

That is why the POTUS was not the popular choice of the majority. He was placed there by a weird and secretive group (the electoral college).

And the current government urinates on the constitution, too. E,g; It's unconstitutional for the government to run surveillance on all citizens, which it does.

Weak on civics.
Weak on logic.

Probably think that just banning guns will make violence go away. London's murder rate (with knives) passing New York's (with guns). There goes your "theory".

Gun deaths in New York in 2016 = 900. Fatal stabbings in London in 2017 = 80 (although the numbers change year to year, London has always had fewer fatal stabbings than gun deaths in New York in the same year).

Is London's murder rate really worse than New York's? - The Independent

Same kind of reasoning that "we could fix the obesity epidemic if only we banned spoons..."

The second amendment was meant as a protection against tyranny; banning guns is one of the first things NAZIs did when they came to power - made it a lot easier to frog march people to extermination camps.

Nazi gun control argument From Wikipedia

More recently, I'm pretty sure the victims of the North Korea or Venezuela last thoughts before being killed by their own governments was not "Gee, good thing I did not have a gun". But then, you are a leftist so, who cares about human lives, right ? Their damn fault for not submitting to maximum socialist leader, right ?

I am not a leftist. I am a moderate with very slight right wing leanings (I favor a strong police force and rule of law).

In regards, to the Electoral College, nothing mysterious or secretive - a centuries-old tradition well documented
(assuming you can read). Its purpose is the same principle as the rules governing the Senate: ensuring a local Region with high population does not get to decide the Presidency.

Then you know the details and political leanings of the current members of the the electoral college?

The President is to represent ALL 50 states, not just New York and California.
To govern the needs of each state, that is why there are Governorships for each of the 50 states.

Hillary lost because the majority of US states correctly realized she is a lousy candidate. Period.

Enough with your uninformed whining...

Yes, Hillary was a lousy candidate.

So was Trump.

American politics seem to me as an outsider to be simply "bait and switch".

No document is more important than the Constitution. And it's in peril.

It declares power to the people, not a puppet government. They warn us about such fiends holding power, in fact.

London's murder rate did exceed New York's in 2018. Even the leftist BBC admits it:
www.bbc.com...

You and the degenerate Independent are deliberately using OLD data to hide that fact.

Dishonest.

And the London murder rate is overtaking New York despite the fact that New Yorkers have guns and Londoners do not.

People commit murders, not inanimate objects; your "logic" does look like banning spoons to fix obesity issues.
"Profiling" criminals, as opposed to banning objects, works, solves crimes and saves lives but hurts the delicate sensibilities of leftists when their ""snowflake PC theories" melt under the burning sun of FACTS.

But, I know, from your perspective, who cares, right ? Preserving holy leftist PC falsehoods is more important than human lives.
Say it: "Fawk dead people. I don't care"

Regarding the Electoral College's political leanings, that is irrelevant - their vote is bound by the votes of their state's population. Leftists, as usual, were/are looking to destroy that bond.

Deny ignorance...

Where exactly are they even referencing specific articles in contention? What a horrible pile of rubbish that was. NYT is miserable fo news. If I wanted people’s opinions I’d come here. The fact that the term Constitutionalist now is equivalent to CT, says volumes. I bet the quote about “watering the tree of Liberty”... is viewed by Antifa and the Left as gospel here with regard to that article.

In other news, since HRC didn’t win, maybe I’m wrong about the presidency becoming a Dynasty...

What happened in January?

From the chart, there were clearly more murders in New York than the differences in the next two months combined.

Also, it looks like the graph (as much as one could assume from so few data points) is tending back towards the higher rate in New York

Also. some of those murders in London were gun related, because gun ownership isn't banned there, just controlled.

Let's also remember that New York is the home of all those 'commie pinko liberals'.

Who is being dishonest?

No, I was being factual.

And can you explain how killing one person, to save another preserves human lives? In that instance, the gun still takes a human life.

And what of all the suicides by guns, how is human life preserved there?

And what about someone who uses a gun to kill numbers of people (there are very very few mass stabbings, but many mass shootings. The gun is a ranging weapon, the knife is not), how is life preserved there?

The truth is that even if guns could preserve human lives, they simply don't in the vast majority of real world circumstances. The "preservation of human life" by an armed general public (good and bad) is just a lie.

Say it: "Fawk dead people. I don't care"

You are the one advocating deadly weapons in the hands of all.

How can you seriously suggest that I don't care, if I am the one trying to prevent gun deaths, somehow?

Regarding the Electoral College's political leanings, that is irrelevant - their vote is bound by the votes of their state's population. Leftists, as usual, were/are looking to destroy that bond.

No.

One person, one vote! And the winner is the one who has the largest majority, is democracy. It is simple.

Disregarding the majority vote through some system of 'number shuffling' is anti-democracy.

In the US, your votes are wasted if they don't count at the end of the day. The US is therefore not a democracy.

Deny ignorance...

I do deny ignorance.

You are the one uncritically repeating the latest right-wing MSM 'spin'.

Read the words used - where is says 'alleged' or 'probably' or similar, it means that what is presented is opinion.

Also, look for contextual omissions and the like that present something factual, but that doesn't actually relate to the content.

I will never be a patriotic American. I am not an American citizen. I live in one of the other 194 countries. This means that I am not anti-patriotic, but rather that I am completely disconnected from American patriotism and see it as nationalist BS that you have been trained into believing. In most other countries, we have no such indoctrination.

And who said all the wolves live in major population centers? Flyover wolves benefit from this system and can more easily vote to eat the sheep.

On the other hand, the system already is like in that comic; California has way more electoral votes than other states, it takes like ten of the smallest ones to balance out California. So where is the protection from wolves?

Meagan Day and Bhaskar Sunkara.

The writers of what ( I hope) is obviously a trolling article.

I have liberal friends that don't think like this.

I don't know anyone outside of the writers of this article that think this way.

These people are crazy.

Right or left we all agree that the constitution is not a relic. After 230 years it stands as one of the best made documents ever created. Even if it were to be destroyed. It has caused irreversible change in humanity because of the ideas that piece of paper represents.

Those of you saying this article is how the left really feels. You don't know the left the way you think you do. My friends on the left love our constitution and feel like it is the ONE thing keeping trump in check right now.The left wants to do things that bring the constitution back to what it was before bush jr. Namely by deleting the patriot act.

The people that wrote this are not representative of the left as a whole. Maybe some far far crazy area of the left?

I wouldn't say that the far far right represents the majority of it. I am not going to do that to left in this case ether.

Agree whole heartily with you sleep.
And as you know I am a Radical Right bordering something nigh extreme!

He's right everyone! No matter our differences in party or perspective, anyone threatening the Constitution is threatening everything that we love in this crazy country!

Stand Together ATS, tell your friends about this!!
There is one thing all of us can come together for and it's this right here.

NYT has ousted itself in negligence as an Enemy of the People of the United States of America!

United We Stand

It makes me proud to see after 2 and a half years us all agree on something.

I'm becoming the same way. I can't say I'm a republican but I can say for sure with the current state of the dem party I'm for sure not a Democrat.
