The answer to what you're getting at, is when you roll back government control that is constitutionally protected, it is replaced with corporate control that is not. Any time you argue for the free market to work, and the government to not pick winners and losers, this is what you're arguing for. Private entities rather than those you vote for to control something. Entertainment, health care, etc...

Since Antifa has actually been proven to be violent repeatedly and is a terrorist organization their social media presence is going to be shutdown right?

These companies have every right to shutdown whoever they want as private companies.

I disagree with it three for I will use their platforms less.

Talking about Hitler won't change my mind that businesses get to pick who use their product.

Hypothetically, what if YouTube banned Christians or homosexuals?

Would that change your mind?

Honestly curious, it's a tricky thing when it comes to blocking people because of their beliefs.
I'm not sure where I stand to be honest.

If they banned Jones for selling snake oil I would be a lot happier.

If they banned Christians and homosexuals the market would react. It's their choice, I don't care (unless I had stock).

Ironically, Jones is making money off of this.

Either way, if the market still consumes the product its a non issue. If people don't like their decision, don't use it. Quite simple.

Vote with your dollar (or what you'd provide them with advertising revenue).

Is he silenced? No. Does he have free server space that they pay for? Not anymore.

I don't agree with Jones, but I'm not intellectually sensitive enough to not be able to listen to him and laugh. I don't care if they decide to pay to keep his content up, I don't care if they decide to take it down. It's their call.

Fair enough.
Letting the market decide is probably the best way to go.

In fact it's probably the only way to go.

Important Public Service Announcement About Free Speech

I really think this well be a trend banning ppl on youtube for "Hate Speech" which could be considered anything that a moderator thinks is offensive. Seems like a way to limit voices or information that don't go with one or the other political party line. You can say its not political but both dems and repubs have tried to make almost everything in this country (USA) political to the point ppl hate each other over who they voted for.

So are they going to take down other conspiracy theorists for having alt ideas about governments and presidents? How about youtubers that have spoke "Hate Speech" towards Trump or Obama?

No, I didn't miss the point at all. I'm afraid it is you who missed the point.

You were attempting to make a point about some big brother-ish censorship trend (I get it), but you've missed the fact that both the censor-ee and the censor-er are irrelevant. So It's like a toad who only eats mosquitoes compared to a toad who eats any bug...irrelevant.

You've made the leap of faith that entities such as failbook represent some source of 'information' and/or 'news', some element of unbiased truth. The truth though is they represent nothing of the sort, they only represent themselves and their brand. It's like being mad about IBM not advertising Dell or HP.

It's not "tyranny" at all...it's competition.

If anything, failbook has legitimized axle jones more than anything else.

The extent of his Facebook "ban" is way overhyped. They nuked his personal account. It's happened to me and many of my friends. The InfoWars page is still up, and videos of Alex will still be posted. He just can't use his personal account any more, that's it.

I've been thinking about this lately. What it signals to me is that society is becoming more liberal(in the political sense, not party stance). If these types of shows are detrimental to ones bottom line they are removed. As any programming would be. Still pissed that Farscape was cancelled.

I don't think of it being censored content ie: "censorship"...but deciding what content a site wants to allow...like us here at ATS.

And it's not as though the complete and un-censored content can't be still found elsewhere.

Social media is the bane of human existence. It has corrupted an entire generation of our society, and at the end of the day it is irrelevant. That Alex Jones is a thing, and FailBook censors them should not matter one iota to anyone, but it does. Alex Jone is an idiot...and so is Mark Suckerbird. People today don't even know who their next door neighbor is, but their "BFF" lives 10,000 miles away and they've never even met them. Yet they snort the "likes" as if they were a powdered narcotic. It's insane, and it's retarded.

To answer to your question; no one appointed them censors. And, quite frankly, no one appointed them to anything. 10,000 years ago cliff dwelling people inscribed paintings of important things into rocks, things like fire and food. 10,000 years from now there will be no record of society, because they we are that shallow. Alex Jones and Mark Suckerbird won't even be a memory. Failbook will be remembered as a cancerous polyp on the anus of humanity.

Alex Jones is nothing more than the National Enquirer personified. And, Failbook is nothing more than a stain on the carpet under the office water cooler spigot. They are both irrelevant. Even more importantly, the MSM has become irrelevant now too. This business of failbook censoring alex jones woldn't even be a "thing" if the MSM hadn't made it that way. When U-toob, failbook, twit, instafail all meet their end (and they will), society will look back on this era and ask themselves what the F# were we thinking? An entire generation lost. Parents will ask themselves what the meaning of life was, because their children (the future) defined their existence through a facade of some pseudo-reality, never venturing outside Mom's basement. No, the next Call of Duty tournament was about to begin.

Alex Jones? Who is he?

FailBook? What is that?

Flyingclaydisc,I love your post, so much harsh truth. You are more optimistic than I am. You assume that future generations will realize the absurdity, superficiality, hypocrisy, commercialism and decadence of these generations who have bought into the whole social media hook, line and sinker. The ones that will bow and honor their corporate owners. I am not so sure the de-evolution will not continue into the depths of tragic nothingness. One thing I am sure of though, nature will persevere and will absorb the madness we have created it will live on to create again.

Above Top Secret has its own T&C.
Your posts get deleted if you write inappropriate content and it can eventually lead to ban. How is ATS any different from YouTube or any other private owned platform? You are moaning and bitching about censorship on a site that bans people every day for breaking the t&c.
Hilarious as f

OP. YEs we know the media companies are wings of the democratic party these days. BUT....they LEGALLY have the right to remove ANYTHING they deem unpopular to them. If it was The Government directly censoring you would have a point, but the companies hide behind the law like smug little jackholes and are protected.

Which product have you researched and compared with other products sold by different companies?

Or is it all just snake oil, to you?

How much does Facebook make in a year?

Facebook announced on Jan. 27 that its revenue reached almost $18 billion last year, representing more than 40% growth over 2014. It also made almost $4 billion in profit last year, as its user base grew to 1.6 billion monthly active users.

It's all just snake oil to me.
Maybe I should be buying a $150 bottle of DNA Force Plus, who knows the magical powers I might gain.

But in fairness my statements have no reputable backing behind them.
I should have a disclaimer, oh wait!!!

Alex has one already prepared I could use...

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.

Neato meme, but I think you will find the most vocal opponents of Jones et al, don't know crap from granola. Except what the leftist media mock.. Gay frogs, anyone?

in other studies, atrazine reduces testicular volume; reduces germ cell and Sertoli cell numbers (11); induces hermaphroditism (6, 8, 10); reduces testosterone (10); and induces testicular oogenesis (7–9, 31). Furthermore, atrazine contamination is associated with demasculinization and feminization of amphibians in agricultural areas where atrazine is used (32) and directly correlated with atrazine contamination in the wild (7, 9, 33, 34).
