Yes, thank you. From your link -

Chris Murphy, D-Conn., is calling on other tech companies to ban more sites like InfoWars, and says the survival of American democracy depends on it.

“Infowars is the tip of a giant iceberg of hate and lies that uses sites like Facebook and YouTube to tear our nation apart. These companies must do more than take down one website. The survival of our democracy depends on it,” Murphy tweeted Monday.

He was referring to the liars and hoaxers, like Jones, and the Russian cyber hoaxers.

When people form opinions and cast their votes based on lies and hoaxes, it does interfere with our democracy, and creates further division among us. Case in point, the Russians have interfered with our democracy in 2016 and continue to do so.

I think we should all agree that it should stop, no matter which direction they want to take us, we must maintain our own direction.

Ummm, no.
We are all adults.

Look up the concepts of democracy and freedom of speech.
America is not nor should it be "1984".

No one needs "correct-think" censorship.

Do you seriously think Jones has any serious impact on ANYTHING in the bigger picture ? Seriously? Or the Russians ?
Jones/Russia has remote controls in Americans ?

As painful as it may be for you to face and accept, Democrats and Hillary lose elections SOLELY because they are TERRIBLE & LOUSY candidates.

-Everyone knows about classified emails illegally stored on Hillary's home server. What next; you want her as President to store nuclear launch codes on her home server for convenience?

-Everyone knows the DNC rigged the primary against Bernie for Hillary - that's NOT democracy. America is not some Third World dictatorship with rigged elections - can't you see this MONSTROSITY ???

-And the DNC now openly advocates socialism and abolishing ICE . Hello....?

Hillary's/DNC election losses have nothing to do with Jones or Russia, or whatever.
Isn't that OBVIOUS enough ?
Think !

Re-read the examples above, slower.
Think some more.
Anyone with good judgment and support for democracy can't possibly vote DNC, particularly since they now advocate censorship in order to win.

You have to dig a bit deeper to actually get some understanding of what the Dems are about in a memo circulating about the Senate concerning how to better stop the spread of fake news. See:
www.axios.com...

It discusses 20 proposals. But that article doesn't go to the meat of the problem, i.e., the Dems and probably others realize this:

“A leaked memo circulating among Senate Democrats contains a host of bonkers authoritarian proposals for regulating digital platforms, purportedly as a way to get tough on Russian bots and fake news.To save American trust in “our institutions, democracy, free press, and markets,” it suggests, we need unprecedented and undemocratic government intervention into online press and markets, including “comprehensive (GDPR-like) data protection legislation” of the sort enacted in the E.U. ”

The heart of the problem lies in the E.U. regs which the social media giants are struggling to understand and comply with. And in so doing, they're finding they have to abide by those rules everywhere, not just in the E.U. And the problem that serves up is the fact that Facebook and Google cling to the claim they are content providers, but not publishers. The "platform" at Facebook allows users to "publish" pretty much whatever they want. In response to that the Dems are considering regulations that would force Facebook to authenticate every user's account. That eliminates bots, but it also does away with anonymity on the Internet. Why? Because other platforms, like HuffingtonPost, for example, require log in via Facebook to log a comment.

And essentially, that's where they're heading. Eliminating anonymity on the internet and my guess would be that Google will see this as an opportunity for profit. They'll come up with an individualized encrypted I.D. key every user will have to "buy" in order to log onto the internet from anywhere they need to log in.

That of course means the end of discourse on the internet except as between members of the PC "hive mind".

Eight pages in, and folks are arguing about "our democracy" that does not and never did exist. And we wonder why we're going to hell in a handbasket???

The deliberations of the Constitutional Convention of 1787 were held in strict secrecy. Consequently, anxious citizens gathered outside Independence Hall when the proceedings ended in order to learn what had been produced behind closed doors. The answer was provided immediately. A Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, “Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, “A republic, if you can keep it.” (Benjamin Franklin)

The biggest lie ever told is that truth comes from a place of power. You cannot serve both truth and power. It doesn't matter from what angle you look at it, everyone is spinning their own fictions. If you're looking for truth from your politics then your eyes are going to rot out of your skull.

What's going to sink our Constitutional Republic is people endlessly repeating the lie that we're a Democracy.
Our rights are not up for vote by anyone.

Well there's been a lot of screaming about how gets appointed to the SOCTUS.

As to this I see both sides wanting to limit the others influence. Childishness that's been spread around.

Let me correct your correction:

A member of the Democratic Party Claims The Surviving of Our Democracy Relies on Private Companies Deciding to Ban Sites that engage in and profit from consistent Hate Rhetoric and Lies on their platforms.

No one is banning Alex Jones form the internet
Facebook is a private company, they can choose to moderate what posts and posters they want participating on their platform...JUST LIKE ATS

Poor corporate benevolistas need more tax cuts to get their juices flowing, eh?

Yes, I mean... no! I haven't been corporate lawyer for the compliance department of an unnamed criminal enterprise for 12 years and I'm perfectly aware, that plants need electrolytes.

Nukes from space for Europe it is, then. This is an outrageous act of cyber-something with strong implications for the national security of profits. Non-PC corporate hive mind high five? Anyone?

Our rights are up for interpretation though.
That is what the Supreme Court is for.
Erosion happens, like when the SCOTUS declared money without limitation and individual free speech interchangeable in Democratic Elections.

Alex Jones was only the start of it. They smell blood like sharks in the water and will try to take down conservatives all in one go like a domino effect. They want a world where only the left's opinions matter.

The slippery slope has caused the slip.

How long till they try and shut down ATS?

I wouldn't. It's a beautiful microcosm of society. I'd study it.

Pfff... that's an a-horny thing to say when you're a hippie who just had his favorite herb legalized. You'll smile and shine though all the threads for the next 10 years or so, somebody needs to put you down ASAP.

It's highly contagious already... Anyhow. Where was I? Ah!

Newsflash:

The Hippies now claim that this polluted society is beautiful!

Think about it. You could look at site like ours and see how things are in society. Introduce something to see the outcome. Basically a beta test for some ideas. But that just might be the CT in me.

Yeah you just hit the whole nail on the head with most things these days.

One guy or one person does something and we instantly lump his whole demographic with them. Really weird in my opinion.

Where in the OP does it say ALL Democrats?

The OP says "Democrats..." Implying the whole or at least a group, when in reality it should have said "One Democrat..."

Noooeeeeess! Thinking is hard work, thinking is boring!

There's only one way the public opinion will be swayed, that was the whole deal with PR science in the first place. Stop filling vulnerable heads with delusions revolving around creativity and feedback loops or ... or... or I'll find someone to find out how to deal with that as well!

CT-Hippies... pfftt... wait. What kind of CT are you referring to exactly?

I’d say being that hundreds of Democrats agreed with the tweet, the OP is accurate.

They won't try to shut down ATS, at least not at first. What they will do is require ATS to validate the identity of everyone commenting or submitting OP's.

ATS will, by default most likely (and for cost reasons) require everyone log into ATS via Facebook. The beauty of that will be that everyone in the Facebook world will see your submissions via Facebook.

That of course will be the death knell of "discussion" or argument. And that's clearly the aim. "Drink our Koolaide and shut the hell up!"
