So getting rid of gun control didn't quite pay off did it? It's been 6 years and the shootings keep piling up.

Very strict Chicago gun-control measures are in effect, but not for criminals.

If you look into it though, there's a lot going on in Chicago.

Lot's of inititatives like Whole Foods opening in one of the poorest neighborhoods, Several banks giving microloan programs for new businesses, a citizens advisory board, police officer training, and new police officers, new equipment for police officers...There's never been more going on. This is a decades long decline thta doesn't change over night. Long before Rahm took office.

Before the random ...that's a democratic governemnt for you, why doesn't Seattle or New York have the same violence issues.

Look deeper peeps.

I noticed from the "Shootapalooza" section at heyjackass.com... that several of the "incidents" involved multiple people being shot at the same address. For instance 8 of the 75 people shot over the weekend was at a 1300 W. 76th street on the South Side.

It is because they are targeting one or two people and they happen to be at a party or cook out. What will happen is there may be a block party and a rival gang will driveby and just spray up everything.

The police today are asking for "tips" from citizens. You'd think with so many cameras installed (especially) in these neighborhoods, the police would have tapes showing the vehicles used in the shootings.

The clearance rate for solving murders is barely 25% IIRC. No snitching...

It is a demographic issue. Seattle doesn't have a huge poor black community. NYC used to have an out of control murder rate. Manhattan has been completely gentrified and NYC also cracked down with stop and frisk.

Wherever you have a concentration of poor blacks, you are going to see some gun violence. It is a cultural issue.

Chicago is crazy because gangs are very much a part of the culture. In addition, with the destruction of some of the housing projects dispersed a lot of the rivals into enemy territory. In the 80s/90s the feds got rid of all the gang leadership, so there isn't any OG guidance these days.

These are literally kids shooting at other kids. Mostly 15-16 year olds.

Wow Chicago gun control really works.
You got cops dropping bait trucks of Nike's by young people trying to get a couple of collars yet the gun ban is significantly slowing down gun violence imagine how many would be shot if they had no gun ban. My guess would be significantly less because reason shootings are so out of hand is because of bad guys not being worried about public shooting back and not worrying about cops because cops response time so slow and the amount of cops on the take.

I know its a hope against hope but are the victims the corrupt officals etc?

Have the people taken to draining the swamp themselves or is it just the little people killing other little people. Lets hope for the best.

Chicago police chief and mayor just held another press conference, promising to reduce the violence. It was virtually a replay of what they said after 102 people were shot on 4th of July weekend 2017.

Any kind of economic development is good. That was just one thing. One store doesn't change a whole city, but it is progress, jobs, local shopping, and helps other small businesses.

We've known for centuries that ecnonomic down turns and poverty leads to higher crime rates. It's not rocket science. It's historical fact.

Chicago is working on getting 1,000 new police officers, working on training, community involvement and more resourses for existing officers.

The mayor of Chicago, and the police commissioner, are proud that "only" 37 people were shot this past weekend. Their reforms are starting to take hold. A 50% decrease in just one weekend!
