What evidence of dirt gathering do you have? Maybe I missed something but I've seen no evidence that any dirt was gathered at this meeting.

Seriously? No wonder you don't have any idea what you are talking about. If you "have seen no evidence" that DTJr was doing looking for dirt, you have been in a coma for the last 18 months at least.

You seem to bot understand it is not illegal to get dirt on your opponent from a foreign national. In fact taking it a step further its not illegal to buy dirt from a foreign national agaisnt your opponent's. If it where Hillary would be in jail since she purchased the dossier from Steele. Steele is a foreign national just like Veselnitskaya.

You want so badly this to be illegal your just ignoring the facts. There is nothing illegal about what Trump jr did what is a problem is the ethics involved. The campaign showed no hesitation dealing with what admittedly is a political nightmare.

But luckily for Trump instead of attacking the ethics involved democrats chose to attack the legality of the meeting. Had they attacked the ethics of working with a foreign national this would have went further. But as a friend pointed out to me Hillary could not because she did the dame thing with steele.

So the fact that both political parties pay millions of dollars for oppo respearch every single election somehow doesn’t count as “a thing of value”...

All trump had to do to either make it legal or atleast avoid breaking the law was report that he did collude with the Russians..

Who let who into the country? The 'Russians'? They were 'supposedly' here on other legitimate business. One of them had to apply for an extension to her visa to attend this meeting. One of the Russians is actually a U.S. Citizen who has been in the U.S. since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

- What was exchanged?

Irrelevant. The law doesn't require an exchange to be forbidden, only the OFFER and/or SOLICITATION. Consider: if you walk into a bank and hand the teller a note that read "This is a robbery. Hand over the money" and then say "Never mind, just joking" and turn around and walk out, you can still be tried and convicted for bank robbery.

By the same token, conspiracy doesn't require an actual action by any party with respect to the conspiracy, just the agreement to do so.

DTJr - has admitted he was at the meeting 'to solicit, accept, or receive a contribution or donation described in subparagraph (A) or (B) of paragraph (1) from a foreign national.' DTJr has even released the eMail chain that discussed the meeting and shows without doubt that he knew the purpose of the meeting was get dirt. And his father too has admitted that was the case.

The Russians did make "an express or implied promise to make a contribution or donation, in connection with a Federal, State, or local election" to the Campaign in order to attract their attention - and DTJr took the bait with glee. Of course, the Russians lied, they really wanted to lobby the Campaign over the Magnitsky Act. And that is a violation of the Foreign Agents act (sorry I don't have the quotation - it is in a couple of my posts earlier in the thread) because they were not registered as Foreign Agents. DTJr and Manafort and Kushner participating in such a conversation violates the Communications with Foreign Governments act (again, look for the link above).

Bottom line: an exchange didn't actually have to take place for several laws to be broken, without even counting the one where DTJr lied under oath in front of Congress.

Irrelevant deflection. Neither of those questions has anything to do with the Trump Tower Meeting in anyway what-so-ever.

I know you are attempting to draw an equivalence between the dossier and the meeting but that is just silly nonsense.

The law would not care. constitutionally steele was a foreighner. that the US company(guilty of using a foreighners info) was in violation of the law. th elaw dont make a diffrence between a contractor and a citizen of another country does it?
