Bait cars have been a thing for a while. The entraptment argument has been had, denied and defeated by law. I don't see why adding more high theft items into the vehicle changes anything.

I think that will likely be the only possible defense. You are correct, it is complicated.

A judge would hammer them, a jury would probably be the luck of the draw.

For most of us this is as simple as don't steal, it's a crime and a crap thing to do.
