You are missing the entire point... there is no need to struggle for breadcrumbs.

The only thing you guys can do and did was allow the country to continue being spearheaded by corruption and watched as the elites systemically destroyed the 'lower' classes of people. Maybe you lot should have said, "I can't" because from our end its looks like all you lots CAN and DID do was allow the working class to be destroyed as capitalism was allowed to run its ugly course unchecked by balances or punishments.

Really - I dont care that you all said, 'I CAN.' Why? Because yall had it a hell of a lot easier than we did, solely because of income levels compared to cost of living, keeping up with inflation somewhat, GOOD job availability,
affordable education, etc.

That is simply not possible for us. Why? Wages have stagnated. Rights, free time, leisure, affordable housing and food, benefits have diminished.

And do you know why we are so pissed and literally saying, 'I cant?' Because old #s from the ages past still hold all the positions of power in our government. Sometimes even legally so, a position must be held by an old fart.

Perhaps if we all had the reins we could right things while the older gens continue to bitch about it because, 'MUH SOCIALISM.'

'Murica. Where progress is viewed as a bad thing by those in control! Woot!

Exactly this!!!

Maybe our collective 'I can' is why we are struggling today, at least for the younger generations. The older generations (which I am part of) have allowed ourselves to be abused for material gain or power. We sell our souls because we have been told this is the good way, the right way, the american way. Go get that huge house and fancy material objects.

Some posters appear to believe that climbing that corporate ladder is the only way to go. They measure their place in this reality by the accumulation of wealth and power, never questioning if that in itself corrupts. They look down on the simple laborer with scorn because it goes against their reality of self worth. They don't understand those that are content for they have yet to reach that spot. They look at the struggling poor, that takes no handouts and provides for themselves, as dirt because to have compassion or critical thought would mean they will need to rewrite their reality.

These are the people that have said 'I can'. In the face of terrible management and supervisors, they go the extra distance to make up for the shortfall, ensuring that bad management will never get better. Maybe even the company would have been better off for that worker to say, 'I can't, 'why don't you lead for a change', 'you pretend to pay me and I will pretend to work'. With the workers always going above and beyond, they are hurting themselves and their coworkers.

Maybe instead of saying 'I can', we should be saying 'I'm content'. Instead of chasing wealth through investment vehicles that are closer to gambling than anything else, maybe it is time to actually earn that money. That greed raises the level of wealth and money creation from these illusionary gains that just makes everyone poorer, especially those that just want to honestly earn their paycheck instead of being rent seekers and leaching off of others.

We have been brainwashed into always saying 'I can'. Hurrah boys and girls, never give up .. never give in. Never evaluate the situation to see if you are being fair to yourself and those coworkers that you share an environment with. Maybe it is time for businesses to be concerned with the amount of profits after expenses going directly to salaries of the people working in the corp instead of shareholders or management. Salaries should be considered part of the business and not a pure expense.

But I have hope. I love what the new generations are doing. Not consuming. Getting brainwashed into huge student debt with no job prospects. Living in their parents basements. Checking out. Evaluating the effort it takes to simply earn a dollar compared to the expense of that discomfort of working in today's corporate world. They are not selling their souls. They are changing this world simply by saying 'I can't.

My dishes are done... for now. If I hated trees? I'd use paper plates instead.

I use paper plates, foam dishes, and usually plastic eating utensils. If the maid didn't charge so much to do the dishes that would likely change.

Why not just reuse the same one of each everyday? Rinse then store them in the refrigerator until reuse, it should get some tension off of you from that huge "environmentalist" energy.

Typically the best way for a Buddhist to avoid such a thing is to not say one is such a thing; and just do as they do. I don't mind saying thats what I am in order to pay respect or homage back... otherwise that would be crushing and difficult, so helping shoulder those energies from all of those opposed to Buddhism means just such a thing as you not getting crushed for disposable food utensils. As some likely see you as a devil using such things especially to save money and having maid service to pay them even less.

So hey if drained and feeling like # from some unknown source? Your tongue put a finger on it... try my advice and see if you feel better; not stressed then hey no worries.

I'm not stressed, I'm just choosing how to spend my free time, the point of life is to eliminate suffering, and doing the dishes makes me suffer. I'm in favor of being environmentally conscious, but paper plates are biodegradable so using them doesn't bother me.

The maid thing was a joke. Very few maids will actually do dishes.

I can’t own a house in Northern California where I live because they are 800,000, generations before me could on a basic factory workers salary. We are worked harder and rewarded less than ever. Maybe you could say you can, but I can’t.

There are LOTS of places in the US where an 800,00- California house is around 100,000...or less. California has completely and utterly destroyed their economy which is why no one in the rest of the US (except maybe New York) want to see California policies outside of California borders.

The man who was talkin' to the dog
Looked at the dog an' he said: (sort of staring in disbelief)
"You can't say that!"
He said:
"IT DOESN'T, 'n YOU CAN'T!
I WON'T, 'n IT DON'T!
IT HASN'T, IT ISN'T, IT EVEN AIN'T
'N IT SHOULDN'T . . .
IT COULDN'T!"
He told me NO NO NO!
I told him YES YES YES!

(The crux of the biscuit is the apostrophe. As everbody knows.)

Well, some think 3rd world elevation means other countries... not those one may happen to meet on the street. So when doing California's avg for working class those houses match the loan percentages of 1st world. Not the tourists from across state lines not immigrants from across country lines.

Sometimes that of course is a county by county thing too... which I have noticed Californians speaking ill of each other county by county; something I have not really noticed other state dwellers doing except for native New Yorkers but that's typically Manhattan and Staten Island talk, the burrows are well borrows meaning districts. Of course California is a huge state so of course where brass tacks or should that be tax is involved?

No different than any other state honestly... the Southern US still has those federally illegal bible belt counties; where if you do not know both local and state law; guilty before proven innocent just by the way you look sometimes; in some of those it does not stop at the old and tired skin color but even tattoos get people following you around in a store or police shadowing you.

Yes very federally illegal when police officers and or court system places their religious belief before the law of the land... but hey; that is changing and for many small counties? Not fast enough... many of them decades behind the actual capital or other major cities found therein.

All one has to do to find out what a counties expectations of you and all citizens there are? Is to go to their local jail and ask for an inmate handbook.

In the guilty before innocent? That is all misdemeanors; they don't care who said or did what in court... it has already been determined guilty and works on minimum and maximum sentence for whatever one was charged with. So the court for those or even "lawyer" is more of a formal custom than any actual trial. No jury... then there is no trial; it is more a defense of one's character. Not acting; then it is easy to see the farce that it actually is as a money generation tool, when conditions other than time are placed on it, that sort revenue grows the cities found within those counties. If they have not grown? Then it is just padding pockets for those others want to call elite usually it means corrupt buddy buddy politics looking to aim higher in the social order of those that do the same sort of pander and crony-ism.

AKA political parties.

Even if registered and you do not vote? You are counted as having done so character wise to whatever party that is... this is how dead people etc get on ballots when someone actually challenges for a recount.

Good on you. I do think that young people now have a much harder path to just make a living than my generation did. I was able to get a very good job with only a high school diploma and a 6 week course in soldering pc boards, small modular components. I was able to continue my education and even actually make money from tuition reinbursment from employer and military money, net small gain. I was able to work 26 years for a great company with all the benefits and a 100 percent funded pension. Unfortunately about 8 years before I retired they stopped the pension plan for anyone who had less than 5 years at the date of the contract. I do not know if there are any companies that have pension plans other than 401Ks. I usually worked my full time job and had a side job part time. Navel reserve in a unit that was fleet logistic support. Aircrew could work all they wanted as it was required to have certain hours flying in addition to regular monthly drill. Joining the Navy was probably the smartest thing I ever did.

I also joined the navy, learned a skill, left and started a business with that skill. I now live off the grid. I left the navy in 97.
