Yes.
I have been trying to figure out TP.
It is an Air Force broadcast.
Ham operators can pick them up.

You’re not going to figure anything out from listening to Skyking EAM messages. They’re encoded using a one time pad. Absolutely impossible to crack if you don’t have the key.

It was a SKYKING message:

Although classified, the Foxtrot message was widely known as being part of the Strategic Air Command’s (SAC) positive control program for sending the Go-No Go message throughout their system. While its purpose has changed over the intervening years you can still here the “Skyking, Skyking” transmissions on specified HF frequencies (see below) of the USAF’s HF-GCS (High Frequency – Global Communication System).

Interesting stuff. From your link look at this part, especially the 5 by 5 reference.....kinda coincidental.

The only other time that a station would transmit the Foxtrot message was when requested for “traffic” by a military aircraft. After receiving a request for traffic the protocol was to say nothing but prepare the proper authentication and transmit the Foxtrot message. Here is a typical request.

Military B-52: “Staghound Radio, this is Boxer 24 on 236.6. Do you copy?”
Fox Main: “Boxer 24, Staghound Radio. Copy you five by five. Over.”
Military B-52: “Staghound, Boxer 24. Do you have any traffic for me? Over.”
Fox Main: At this point the console operator does not reply but looks up the proper authentication code for the current time and transmits the Foxtrot message in the format noted above.

2 Quick thoughts regarding "Keep your eyes on the ball"

1) The most used term is "Keep your EYE on the ball" (not plural) is the extra 's' significant?

2) When I hear LITTLE and BALL being connected...I'm reminded of the name of that table game one plays with two paddles and a little white ball.

LOl, yes, I stand corrected. In fact I was older than her at the time now that you bring it up. Meh, maybe it wasn't her. Odd though: Alanis from YCDTOT and crew, sometime in the mid 80s (after 85 for sure).
