This is not even vaguely true.

I rarely carry ID with me unless I'm driving or going to a bar... and I have a few friends that are police.

Yes he was lying.
He said you need is to buy groceries. You don't. Fact.

And just cause it happens to you often does not mean #.
It happens to me almost never and I rarely use cash.

The poster before you made a good point. Most of the most popular stores, such as Costco, etc., REQUIRE an ID to make any purchase. You can not just walk in and make a purchase there without one.

I agree with you but honestly I think part of the problem that we have is getting triggered and commenting on every stupid thing he says or does.

Its about picking your battles.

Sure Trump saying you need ID to buy a bottle of milk is just stupid, really, no other word for it. Yet the people who are going to defend him over this would defend him if they saw him beat a puppy and take a piss on lady liberty. We really don't need to jump every time he tweets or says something stupid, just let his words speak for themselves because the people who are going to defend him and make excuses for him over stuff like this just are not ever going to change their spots so your picking a battle you can never win.

Like I said, pick your battles.

Nope.
1 for the pharmacy.
Beer is not groceries.

You guys all have points. My point though is none of that is what he said.

An Id is not required to buy groceries. So why say it?

I guess this thread shows why say it

Bull#.
Most do not.

The few Costco types do.

Yea let’s spend 2 years making a huge deal about those scary Russians and election integrity, but not require ID to vote. The only thing that makes sense is the left are wanting the illegal votes.

Not a battle.
I just want to understand why the lie? It's a legit question.

Why not just say hey you need id for a check. Need id at Costco types. We need to crank up voter id yadda yadda.

Its just annoying.

And for the record these threads are so I can understand. This bothers me. Does not seem to bother most and I'm interested in why.

Yup just one of those things that demonstrate how out of touch he really is.

I mean, how can a a billionaire, son of a property tycoon possibly have the kind of real world experience that he can relate to the man on the street.

What's truly damning is not a single, solitary one of them, him, or any politician would *dare* lower themselves to the level of the people they represent. Their ivory tower needs a good kicking.

Good point.

Well there was some governor from Michigan that lived on minimum wage for like a week.

It's not a lie. There are many times when you DO need an ID to buy groceries.
And he was making a point which you are obviously totally missing.

Fair enough.
I don't agree but I will accept it.

I just missed the point.

Or they're worried about disenfranchising voters. Politicians are already trying to disenfranchise voters through things like voter roll purges and gerrymandering. Do you think they wouldn't see voter IDs as just another tool to be used to deny certain people their right to vote?

All his statements here seem to be half-truths... as in all politicians do it.

I guess this would be a place to discuss them. Or, realize it’s political theater and move on...People who hate Trump try and catch him in his ramblings and it’s just not going to work. Because we are so polar today.

Me,... it’s the same ol, same ol, left or right.

I’d rather pay more attention to his actions and berate him for those.

But this is ATS lol

I bet it would disenfranchise illegal voters.

Costco requires membership, which ya, maybe the require some form of id to prove you are a member...
so doesn't BJs and Sam's Club, ect....
guess what....
I don't have a membership to any of them and I haven't starved yet!! been getting my groceries just fine.
often times paying in cash!

hey, maybe he's preparing us for the time when there's no cash and we're given a choice between a chip implant or real id.

The point Trump is missing, is that buying groceries at Costco is not a right. Voting is a RIGHT. There are citizens who do not have photo IDs. What about those citizens’ right to vote?

I know. That's why I said I will accept but not agree.

I wanted to make a point. I think I did.
I also wanted to see if his admirers would deflect and defend. That happened too.

But for this threads sake I will accept I missed the point. Why not
