Virtue signaling?
That probably used to go by another name too.
"Expressing an opinion of Morality?"

Austin used to be named Waterloo....I'm sure someone has posted that in the thread somewhere.
Why not change it again?

I will try not to assume you are above such pettiness in the future. 8)

I don't care.

I think this movement to change names, tear down statues, is just as bad as book burning.

So anyone who is "okay" with it, I'm calling a book burner.

It's erasing free expression, white-washing history, and looks like "Walking Butt-hurt".

It's weak.

It's petty.

But, we (as a country) are free to be as weak, petty, idiotic, moronic as we want to be.

As evidenced by so many.

But our names are the same. You are offended by your own name?

Nope just yours, its offensive, its sexist, its toxic masculinity, and it should be changed because other people find it offensive.

It doesnt matter what I THINK, what matters is other people think so.

Who wants to sign the petition?

Sigh

If it means that much to you and hurts you that badly, go for it.

I think it's weak, petty, blah blah blah. Already said what I wanted to say on the subject.

Go for it.

I pity those who feel they need to change it though.

And I'm free to call every single asshole who wants to change a god-damned name because of history Reee.

See how that works?

Freedom.

Does that apply to Utqiagvik, too?

For the sake of being thorough, can you break it down and point out which of the 3 words are sexist & toxic masculine and why? Preferably with Oxford or similar recognized dictionary etymology references to back yourself.
For ease of research, your three words are as follows:

"Scared" (scraed being an obvious misspelling), "To" and "Sleep".

Have fun backing your case.
edit on 7/29/2018 by Nyiah because: haha, accidental typo is still funny

That's what Barrow was renamed to, bud. It's historical Native name. Does your rant apply to those folks, too?

Don't know. Don't particularly care, either. The folks wanted to call the town Utqiagvik instead of Barrow, and that's what matters.

Since the name change occurred in 1839, according to wiki, I think we can safely assume that DB wasn't around to fuss...

Where did I ever say that people were not free to be as stupid as they wanted to?

WHERE?

WHERE?WHERE?WHERE?

I didn't.

But part of my job, is identifying trends.

This has what's gotten me into the conspiracy world to begin with.

I see trends and they aren't good.

Want to see a funnier trend, read the last pages of my explaining to a member they should change their name, and other people not being able to draw the line directly to the ridiculousness of people petitioning to change Austin's name.

They are so freaking oblivious it totally escapes them

It's hate and anger and a total lack of reason and logic.
