" I had more energy than most meth heads!"
First off, why are you comparing yourself to meth heads?
Second, a healthy weight for a female your height is 120-150. So you're pretty under weight.

People should be who they want to be instead of living your life by an artificial societal norm that changes from year-to-year.

Fat, skinny. . . . . who cares?

Damn we've become such a judgmental society!

Brilliant, you going to pick up the tab for the billions in extra health care these are free eaters use?

While they are pigging themselves and to hell with the consequences, it's everyone else that pays the price. Wether that's in their taxes or missing out on medical care that their local health authority cannot give them because they're to busy dealing with greedy selfish people that don't care.

Living as you please is fine, asking me or others to 💰 the price for your life choices gives me the right to ask why.

A huge misconception is that you can "burn" a Big Mac off. You can't.

Just a Big Mac has 540 calories, add fries and an apple pie and your ass will have to exercise for hours, and that is just for one "all American style" meal.

Low low simple carbs-low, low sugar-moderate protein and high saturated fat and moderate exercise will make most loose weight and look "lean".

But ya gotta stick to the diet and not eat the crap in the food pyramid-or not in the suggested helpings.

They are responsible for themselves.

This is the problem with socialized medicine.

Now you get to dictate how another gets to live their life.

Living as you please is fine, asking me or others to 💰 the price for your life choices gives me the right to ask why.

That's why universal healthcare will destroy individual freedoms.

Thank you for providing an opportunity to illustrate it!

IMHO, the general public has been lied to about what is healthy and why.

The govt was lobbied hard back in the 1960-1970 to match a flawed study (lipid) with a diet, the food pyramid. It is a lie and was designed to help sell cash crops.

The public did what they were told- our system it is a failure brought on by flawed science, big money corps and low moral politicians.

I am a fat guy... Almost always I have been overweight. And in some of what the OP states I agree with - the delivery could use some polish, but, there are valid points.

I firmly blame the food sources and factory methods, namely high fructose corn syrup, and, a genetic trigger that is starting to be more common in people... That, or corn syrup saturation is just getting greater and greater.

I am a twin... we were pretty normal kids, skinny, hyper, running around outside in the woods... never ever allowed to stay indoors on a nice day. Until we were 6... I started gaining weight and my twin didn't. In our family of multiple kids all things had to be rationed. I ate the exact same thing and the same portions, did the exact same things because that is what twins do - play together from birth... at 6 I started gaining... I ran just as much, jumped, biked, and climbed the same trees. Still I gained and my twin didn't. Nor did anyone else in my family of 6 people (counting my parents and siblings) - just me.

However. as a little chubby kid, I had to get stronger just to do the exact same things... because no one slows down for the baby, so, if I wanted to play I had to keep up.

The one thing different is that my twin is a girl, and I am a boy. So, not the same egg so to speak, but, definitely from the same batch. The environmental influences about as controlled as they can be naturally...

Now I look back... after all the childhood in the country, playing outside, the years in the Army where I had to pretty much stay on the fat boy program. Through out my life I have had to keep my diet literally half of what normal people eat JUST to keep myself from getting grossly obese. I still slowly gain... In the service I would go on long benders and stop eating just to stay in good standing. I kid you not.. I could drink and loose weight but couldn't starve myself down without a beer booster... so... PT and Beer... but you can not do that forever so I stopped the extremes and try to stay active and control the diet. Now that I am aging it is not working anymore...

Yet, I have the same stats for health, as a healthy male my age. except, I'm fat. Even though I am tall... I'm a fatty.

Funny thing though - my blood pressure is 114/62, heart beat right at 60 a minute, but my body temperature is low though - my normal is 97.2... if I have a temp of 98.6 I am sick. I am also stronger then a lot of people, I guess, just to keep my fat body up with the other kids, and then, all the other soldiers, etc.

My metabolism is just that slow - Like my Doc said... I run 'low and slow' but should lose some weight. However, even with the caloric usage of a soldier, I still had to be super extreme just to maintain.

Funny... I never get cold either, and I live in a notoriously cold state. Blubber is an insulator.

And, it all turned on like a switch. We can see it from childhood pictures. Right at 1974 I started gaining. Before hand I was a skinny kid with a Charlie Brown large head. Then I start to pudge-out; the stripped shirts my mother made me wear started to stretch a little more. In the 1975 pictures - it it full on butter ball making - just BOOOM, fat kid.

So, what changed? It wasn't output, even the portions of input, However, a new food source ingredient was introduced. Corn Syrup.... Corn Syrup was okay'd in the American diet in 1974, and released on the market... In 1975 High Fructose Corn Syrup was okay'd and released....

May not be the most empirical method, but, anecdotally... pretty nice argument for further study in my mind.. The birth of proof starts in speculation. But... they don't want let the cat out of the bag.

Now, we are exporting the American Corn Syrup machine to the rest of the world, and look what is happening.

Add to that the more sedated lifestyles of today, and, you got a virtual bomb about to blow.

There were times in my life where maintaining weight was easier... I remember in the field I never gained weight, but then my corn syrup intake was severely diminished due to location.

In Germany I gained weight slower, and, could lose it at will when I wanted (still in Army PT and Beer). In America duty... fat boy rations and workouts again plus beer thing - it was brutal.

I also apprenticed to learn how to build Classical Guitars with a Luthier in Canada. While living there the house had a rule of no processed foods - and no corn syrup. I maintained weight there.

So... it is in the food. And I believe it is a genetic trigger. Some people do not get affected by Corn Syrup... but that is changing... Like the age of fluid intelligence changed (kids now gravitate to technology like 20 year old Geeks did in the 60's) the Corn Syrup quagmire is getting more and more people trapped in it.

Calling a spade a spade at least acknowledges the problem and doesn't put it in a protected / untouchable status.

This PC crap has gone WAY too far!

The T&C prevents me from saying what I would like to say right now. So, polite society lives to fight another day

I agree about calling a spade a spade sometimes though Disk - but I don't think you really understand this well enough to say what you're saying with any authority

I live in the UK, we have the NHS. So anyone that wants to abuse their body can drain the system without a care in the world.

If we had a private medical system then I wouldn't care what they did, it wouldn't be my business.

I haven't as much proved your point as you've discovered 2+2=4. I learned that half a century ago.

Ummm...just because it's in your taste buds...and your mind screams...eat...eat...eat...

Doesn't mean you have to feed that particular hunger...

It's not in the food as much as it's in your head...where you offer up the reigns and let the body control the you...the mind...the self...

They're your reigns dude...either your the driver...or your the driven...simple as that...

I mean the OP has a point. It wouldn't hurt people to stop consuming so much, and actually get active.

Personally I'm fit because I have a job that is labor intensive which is probably about the only benefit to working my ass off XD

Private medical systems are privatized socialism.

If you belong private (pay into) medical insurance program your money is pooled with the other participants. So if someone "abuses" there body (follows the US food pyramid) they will have more charges to the medical insurance program costing more.

The US system costs huge $$ not everyone is covered and even if you have insurance you can still be bankrupted. The US needs a better system.

I really wonder where you get that from... On one hand I think you don't know me well enough to call that shot, and, on the other hand I think. Derp, of course it is, Homer... Who's mind would it otherwise be in?

But in reality I finally think.. That's it?

It's in your mind

Gee, um, thanks,

I'm not really here to defend private health, but there are costs involved in abusing your body I assume with the rising costs of your payments.

No system wil ever be perfect and there is no real answer to the obesity epidemic. The people with self control are already exercising it, those that don't care will need really care. No quick fixes.

Maybe the government here don't want people living long enough to draw their state pension, maybe they want the collapse of the Health Service so they can introduce a privatised system.

I would say, try living in an apartment under a fatty, it's elephant circus every day.

I gain weight when I eat too much processed crap and don't get enough exercise and I lose weight when I eat healthy and get off my backside and move. I know this isn't the case for everyone but it is the case for MOST people. Propaganda telling me that "Big is beautiful" doesn't change my mind on the subject, but it enables those who are looking for any excuse to not accept responsibility for their own bodies. Obesity along with diabetes and heart disease are on the rise because of this.

"Fat shaming" is not only wrong but completely unnecessary. Though many obese people claim happiness and say they feel beautiful it is said mostly to make themselves feel better because deep down most would like more than anything to be fit and healthy. I know that not many men discuss this issue with their friends, but women DO. I know many that put on a brave face and "claim" their "big and beautiful" status for the public and then sob in private.

One out of 4 over the age of 70 is borderline with diabetes here

Mileage may vary- but it may also have to do with gluten intolerance as well- Something's wrong with the world's wheat- or.. Where you are- do you import wheat from the US? I can eat Asian food till it pours out of my ears- but I eat anything 'American'- especially wheat/ gluten based- the unhappy gut begins, my blood sugar goes to orbit, And I spend 2-3 weeks bloated, sick and in some cases- unable to move past getting out of bed to go to the bathroom. Even then- it was a struggle to stay upright.

I am inclined to think the general food supply is poisoned- either due to incompetence and greed, or by design. Whichever one it is, I just don't know.
