Why do conductors always have messed up hair??

And what is he really doing with that stick anyway? It's gettin' a hell of a workout, but there ain't no dang noise comin' outta' that thang.

I think it stems back to early aircraft engineering. If there's enough airflow through the room and he flaps his arms enough?......?

Somewhat. Although in all fairness it is a piece that is seldom played. I believe he is so animated and emotional because it is scarcer than a lifetimes opportunity to do such a thing.

Whats that sound at 5:50? Seems out of place.

I was once taken to a organ recital in an old church in London. The person who took me was deaf. He could "feel" the music and "hear" some of the notes. It was quite a recital, and quite an eye-opener on deafness.
