Are you saying the government spends wisely?

I hope not.

Plenty of places to start.

And before you get your shorts in a wad, I'm against all bailouts.

Are you?

How are we going to reduce the deficit if the socialists move into office and start giving everyone free health care, free education and a universal basic income?

But no worries about tariffs. Trump is making continual progress on that subject.

If you answered that question correctly, then this entire thread is a political hack job. Why don't you propose valid solutions to this problem instead of being the problem?
Too difficult?

Well said! Of course it's a political hack job. Some people find a headline that suits them and it gets posted on ATS (all sides). I'm starting to think that ATS is as big a waste of time as network and cable news. Just looking at the thread title and who posted it is enough to know what the content is going to be. 99% BS. I don't even know why I jumped into this thread.

The government needs to cut their wastefulness before they can justify taking more taxes from people. Trump has been working on trimming the fat through his EO's.

And, as the economy continues improving and more industry comes back to the US, there will be more taxes paid without raising rates for anyone.

Hey idea - maybe we can cut WAR spending. What a concept. And put those trillions to good use.

If you are in a store and you cannot find you significant other, yell out "TAXATION" if the response isn't "IS THEFT". Leave them, you can do better...

Moral of the story, if you make $1, $100, $1000, 1,000,000 or 10,000,000 taxation of your money is always theft.

Cut spending and keep your hands out of my pockets....

And private Property is theft.

OK.

Serious Question.... look at the changes below, especially the child tax credits and deductions and tell me how this is bad for most of us?

Seriously? What are we missing?

Remember that the tables show "Taxable Income" after all these increased deductions.

Old:

New:

www.forbes.com...

The new tax rules also make big changes to the standard deduction and exemptions.

The standard deduction in 2018 as the law currently exists is $13,000 for a couple filing jointly. That number will jump to $24,000. For single filers it jumps from $6,500 to $12,000.

child tax credit gets a big boost. It currently sits at $1,000 and starts to phase out at $110,000 in income for couples and $75,000 in income for everybody else. Under the new law, the credit doubles to $2,000, $1,400 of which is a refundable tax credit. Further, it doesn't start to phase out until $400,000 in income for couples and $200,000 for singles.

BECAUSE ... it's only the first year.... LOOK over time:

Is it even possible to pay off our national debt?

If you answered that question correctly, then this entire thread is a political hack job. Why don't you propose valid solutions to this problem instead of being the problem?

Look up the definitions of 'debt' and 'deficit' please!!!!

Again the Trump supporters are in denial.

Like when Trump tried to wishful think the delusion that his inauguration was as huge as Obama’s.

These are FACTS and statistics from Trump's own government.

Your alternative facts are lies

Are you daft?

Speaking for myself, I am not a trump supporter. I think the entire realm of politics is simply there to distract us while they rape us. They siphon our labor and energy every chance they get. The national debt and printing money out of thin air (inflation) are some of the worse things being done to us. Even if you detach from this political dog and pony show and try to simply enjoy life, these vampires still affect our standard of living ... every .... single .... day

So what does that say about yourself? Are you part of the cabal? You seem to try and divide this subject into political theater every chance you get. Do you actually thing one side is better than the other? Are you on tptb's payroll?

I am trying to rack my brain, thinking of why you continuously try and divide us instead of bringing everyone together under a common goal that will actually accomplish something. Do you love servitude? Do you love misery?

Will you ever pull your head out of the sand? Do you love the endorphins from hating so much those chemicals now control you?

One - your source is rather questionable.

And two revenues only play one part in a balanced budget - revenue numbers mean nothing without corresponding expenditure numbers.

How you going to cut spending when their going to give billions from our taxes to farmers because of Trump I'll conceived Tariff policy

Not to mention that those 'billions' in extra spending will largely go to Huge Agricultural Company's, not the small family or small cooperate farms that could actually use the help.

Our only option left at that point will be to completely check out of this system. If enough producers say '# it' and join the non productive, we will be able to crash this system. We will give them exactly what they want and then see how well their plans match up with reality.

I am kind of happy with the upcoming generations. They are checking out in greater and greater numbers. People call them lazy but that will also serve the purposes of the great reset nicely. I hope more people decide to live in their parents basements and start living with the bare minimum. No more purchasing housing. No more full time jobs. They will leach off of the free healthcare until it implodes. No more consumer economy.

When the rewards of participation are less than the pain incurred, we are the stupid ones to continue producing, that continue to be self reliant and responsible. Maybe the younger generations can already read the writing on the wall and we are the slow ones.

I am not planning on the purchasing power of the younger generation to continue giving my assets value. I hope it burns. I hope people wake up before war. I hope people start feeling the bite of hunger. Then things will start changing.

What are you getting at? Our deficits lead directly to debt, to the point they are interchangeable. If we actually had a responsible government, deficits wouldn't lead to debt, they would lead to default and programs being cut so we could live within our means.

Has that ever happened at the national level? Has a deficit ever resulted in fiscal responsibility or do we just mortgage our #ss to the hilt?
