If it hurts us pretty bad, then we'll find an actual war and make a some of the money back.

No, me and you won't get a dime like usually.

Edit, me and you will pay for that too. It's mentalities like your's that keep that toxic cycle going.

It will definitely get rough for us. But in the end, if they are more broke than us, I guess we won.

A Pyrrhic victory -- barely a victory. A few of those victories and we won't have any legs to stand on any more.

How many un-instigated wars have we won since WWII? So much winning it's hard to keep track #MostBestestMilitaryOnEarth (all joking aside it is, they're just rigged not to win).

It will come out of the initial $20 bil made off of the tariffs.

This is a good move. You sometimes have to spend money to make money.

While it's clear the farmers are feeling the heat of this idiotic trade war, and [snipped] is obviously worried about votes, is there any word on where, specifically, the funds are going to come from? Is it cash they already have sitting around that can be re-allocated?

I don't typically care for bailouts--especially for the douche-nozzles who make the messes, like the big banks in the financial crisis. However, it's pretty clear that bailing out the auto industry was indeed a good thing (lots of jobs saved).

The farmers didn't create this mess, and while some relief may be helpful, it's a good bet they'd rather just see the trade war go away.

Making America Great Again, by subsidising our big-business buddies, with money from the taxpayer's pockets!

Good ol' corporate welfare.... Dude, they really need it.

Hardship is sad for the small, honest, family businesses, mostly because there no true free-market occuring.

Should we not be wary of those whom profit, even during downturns, instead of worshipping them?

Have multi millions and a snip ton of acreage that costs millions to buy.

Then on top of that have more multi millions to buy the equipment.

The sit back and let the gubbmerment pay you for not growing anything.

Is a start.

Uh, that works both ways.
Do you have any idea how much China has invested in the US?
If they pulled out, things would absolutely tank.
It's a global world now days.
American exceptionalism is over and done.
Time for America to grow up and learn to work and play well with others.

Seems to be working in the corn-belt area of America.

Can't say I like this. I'm no fan of bail outs regardless who's doing it.

That said, the US (Trump) needs to either surrender or get tougher.

This is a Trade War.

We're either going to win or lose.

Right now, we're losing.

I say keep on with the trade war but don’t bail them out, let them eat it. Those poor huge companies making only 375 MILLION a year in profit instead of 395 MILLION a year! Oh the horror!

And that's why I love ATS...didn't even cross my mind..well done

So far I've seen many threads on how the trade war hurts USA, any info out there on how it's hurting the other side ? or is this a one way street ?????

Obviously I was being sarcastic and mimicking warmongers, but I agree.

However, sometimes the only way to fix a problem (unfair trading) is to demonstrate the existential threats that the problem creates.

Doing the right thing by disrupting the senseless and financially crippling situation brought to us by todays world trade standards is going to hurt us too, along with everyone else, but the only way to end this cycle of inequality is to grind it to a halt.

But if you get the premium package with Direct TV or Dish, that 20 million really comes in handy!

Why use information from a foreign source?sounds like your trying to promote hearsay, another cheap liberal move, just because some euro socialist says something what truth is in it?

Buy some acreage....

I'm beginning to like Trump more and more. My 180 acres in cotton and onions will pay bigly thanks to the American taxpayers.

And thanks for paying me to not grow anything...suckers!!
