If someone is abusing a handicap space and potentially violating the rights of the handicapped then confronting them should be your civic duty, but if a black man attacks you in the process of standing up for the rights of the disabled you are then a white racist homophobic zealot who deserves the beating and anything you do to preserve your life in that moment is null and void.

If that was a cop doing the shooting, how people's tunes would change. There is no reason to shoot someone who is obviously aware you have a gun, and is moving away. The gun is a deterrent - just because you pull it out doesn't mean you now have to shoot someone with it.

The bravado and testosterone in these threads is typically overwhelming. "If you touch me you are going to die!" Pathetic. I have a feeling those of that mindset, are the type of people that carry out road rage attacks.

That had me concerned some as well,the guy was backing away when
he was shot.I agree he should be charged with murder,once the guy
was backing away he was no longer a threat.If he was still coming at
him after he was knocked down,different story.

It is about the assault by knocking the man down, not the parking argument.

Being a Floridian, I have a couple thoughts on this. Stand your ground is pretty controversial. First problem in this story, the victim broke the law parked in handicap spot, then this old crazy guy that has a pretty crazy past towards minorities starts giving this guy’s girlfriend grief about parking in the handicap spot. So the victim, approached this guy and I guess one thing led to another pushed the guy down and from what I saw on the video was about to give him an ass whoppin. Then this guy pulled out his gun and shot him. Personally I think this would not be a story if it was not white vs black. But it is. Stand your ground is pretty cut and dry, if the guy felt like he was in fear of bodily harm he can shoot the guy. I think if it goes to trial its going to be hard to convince a jury that in the video, but with that being said it should be brought to trial and let a jury decide. I am not sure how I would have reacted either if some big guy shoved me to the ground and looked like he was about to beat on me. Yet was it excessive after he pulled out the gun the guy backed off.. shooting him then may be excessive.
