If their clearances are revoked for sounds reasons, I see no problem with it. That should be acceptable and expected in cases in which there are justifiable reasons to do so.

If their clearances are revoked for political reasons, that is a problem.

Unfortunately, going off of the info being given in this thread, it sounds like the reasons are the latter and not the former.

Indeed.

Such an act out of political motivation would indicate the willingness to use their position of power to go after political "opponents".

all part of putins plan...anything said or done in the next few weeks by trump, was discussed during their 2+hour secret meeting...further putin instructions will be coming in the fall, when he visits again with trump

But he is available as a resource if trump ever wanted to avail himself to some good advice and that is why these guys maintain their clearance. As a resource in time of need.
Of course trump can do this all by himself. Standing on his head of you believe him.
He doesn't need any advice from anyone.

It's a rather big mistake and shows a lack of attention to detail on the Presidents part that he did not purge all clearances for ALL Obama officials that left office. I think he made the error of believing he could work with the leftists - that is not and never will be possible. The biggest mistake anyone could make is to give even a single concession to a leftist.

The President needs to act to remove all access to the likes of Brennan and make sure nothing is leaked.

I wonder whether he can act to remove Obama's clearances too? Probably not, but he should look into it.

It's not what is normally done. Most presidents aren't afraid like he is. Most of them weren't paranoid like he is. The clearance was left so the president could have additional resources of years of experience in times of need.

It needs to be done now. Brennan and his ilk cannot be trusted. They leak information for political purposes.
Let's hope your President acts and casts these people aside.

And the obscenity reveals himself yet again as the ultimate snowflake. But what the heck... one more piece of stupid from the most corrupt, stupidest administration in the history of the US.

Well, he's already had Russian prostitutes urinate on the bed the Obama's slept in. What next?

Trump haters believing everything that's absurd is what's next.

And to think all it cost was $1 million dollars paid to a foreign spy for that snip.

That was the last administration.

As we find out every day more and more about Obama's abuses of power.

Sure they can be trusted. To think they can't is absurd. Trump has something to hide that's why he's doing this. It helps to convey just the message you are receiving. That the old guard cannot be trusted. That's stupid. Simply stupid paranoia. He's making a sham of the office. He has the whole world laughing at him and hating him at the same time. But you're buying it and he's not even your president.

Revoking their clearance won't change anything unless they're still being briefed in classified meetings somewhere. You don't just get access to whatever you want because you get a clearance. It's all based on need-to-know. So they need to find whoever it is leaking classified information if that's what's happening.

How can they leak when they aren't briefed any longer. This won't clear their memories just what they learn from here on out. See how stupid he is? He thinks this is needed or he thinks it serves the message he wants his base to have.
These guys clearance won't change what they already know.

Or it shows how stupid you are for thinking that's why he wants to revoke their clearances. Just like you actually believe he thought firing Comey would stop all the investigations.

You're the very definition of "useful idiot" that the media depends on. Learn to think for yourself.

As ex-employees,
why should they benefit from the same level of clearance ?
They're out of the house

I think Gen. Hayden (Retired) explained it best - "I don't go back for classified briefings". This would indicate that circumstances warrant post-assignment input from those with previous (and still active) security clearance on subject matter(s) relevant during his/her tenure when he/she was on active duty.

Look at it like a military non-disclosure clause about witnessing UFO's. Some of those are for 30+ years.

It says former..........so I am guessing they don't really need clearance.

It's not like anyone goes out of their way to let them keep their clearances. It's actually the opposite. Lots of people with clearances retire, separate, etc from government service. Rather than go through a ton of paperwork to end all those clearances early, they usually just go into an inactive state until they expire (usually 5 years for a TS and 10 years for a Secret clearance, at least for DoD). That doesn't mean they have access to classified material, as I explained earlier, they have no need to know. If someone is giving them classified material they're not entitled to, even though they have clearance, that's against the law.
