You are absolutely correct and when I applied for a gun permit I simply checked off 'no history of mental illness' and that was that, there was no follow up, no checking to see if that was indeed a fact, unless they contacted my doctor to confirm, but she never mentioned anything to me and she is very thorough about everything.

They check it against NICS. If you've been adjudicated mentally ill, it's supposed to be loaded into NICS, and if it was you would get flagged and you'd be denied.

I wonder how Mr. Lone Nutcase got his skills with the weapon:

torontosun.com...
Several attested to the fact the gunman reloaded more than once during the rampage, and appeared skilled at handling his firearm.

Here the Royal Canadian Mounted Police process the gun permits so it would appear to me that this shooter acquired the gun illegally.

Shocking and tragic, RIP.

Just like all the other whack shooters, this guy had been mentally 'treated' at some point:

torontosun.com...
“The interventions of professionals were unsuccessful. Medications and therapy were unable to treat him.”

You can bet the professionals were entirely successful. Their little wind-up toy performed as expected.

I wouldn't read too much into that as most people don't even understand the basics of firearms, reloading is simple, push a button the magazine drops out, insert new one, anyone can do this. The true test would be if the weapon malfunctioned in some way, like failure to eject or even failure to fire.

i don't know what skills you are talking about. it does not seem very skillful to me. only a couple dead, and 13 wounded. it seems more like he was pretty much just shooting in the general direction of people, like what people call spray and pray. basically rapid fire in the general direction of your target(s), and pray you actually hit something. the only shill involved being able to load the gun, cock the gun, and to pull the trigger to fire the gun in the general direction he wanted. that is the great thing about mass shootings, the more targets there are, the more likely you will hit one. now if it was ten killed and ten wounded, then i might say there was possibly some skill involved.

CP24 safety specialist Cam Woolley says a police source has told him the semi-automatic handgun used in the shooting is illegal in Canada and was originally from the United States. American authorities are helping track the gun’s exact origin.

It appears ISIS has claimed responsibility for the shootings in Toronto .

Believe it or not this is a rap beef. This has been unfolding for a while but the breaking point was when they killed smoke dawg on Canada day and they have been taking turns shooting up blocks ever since (more than the usual as it's quite common).

The source said there is reason to believe that the gunman, Faisal Hussain, 29, might have obtained the firearm used in the attack from his older brother, who is in a coma in hospital.
The older brother is known to Toronto police for alleged ties to a Thorncliffe Park street gang, the source said.

www.google.ca...

You can all do your research to his brother and the link to q house busted with 300 guns and fentanyl. This is a street gang operation sending a message to businesses owners in that neighborhood.

ISIS claims everything.

It's possible he was radicalized but anyone in the area knows about his gang ties.

Here's a clip from a Gansta rap documentary from Toronto about 10 years old (this video shows an Arab gang) and it's only gotten worse. This is pretty eye opening and will change your view of Canada.

Hussain was in debt I think he was paid to cause havoc and it went wrong.

It’s very possible he was a gang member as well as a “soldier “ for ISIS. To say ISIS has nothing to do with this is naive.

To assume it was ISIS *could also be* naive especially considering all the evidence indicating otherwise.

Could be ISIS but most likely not.

Yes, it does add perspective to your previous post. And yes... gangs are a huge problem in Canada as well. I think Faisal and his brother were highly involved in gang activity, but there have also been reports that Faisal loved to talk about radical Islam topics.

Perhaps you are correct in saying this is merely gang related and ISIS is trying to claim responsibility.🤷🏻‍♀️

It was wrong of me to flat out claim it as fact in the beginning of the thread plus I should have clarified my stance and been more objective.

At this point anything is possible I'm just speculating on what and why.

Cheers
