It is my observation that the anti-socialist hysteria is a hold over from the cold war with the USSR and China back in the day when despots were using the cover of ''communism'' to expand their own power structures. Despots can and will use any cover for their own game ie both Trump and Clinton.

The more Trump supporters rant and rave against Democratic Socialism, the more appealing it looks to me.

If you all are this outraged about it, it must have some good points.

Yes, we will all be equal (except the political class who will be above everyone else).

Equally broke and miserable.

You realize you just described America currently, right?

And we can start that education with the anti-socialists here who rail against it daily with no sense that they are believing the propaganda established by the capitalist system .

I've worked hard my whole life to be well off.

What sense would I have giving some of that up?

What exactly is socialism? I understand they define it as public, collective or cooperative ownership of equity. Basically is it that the citizens or public own and control all forms of commerce? If a company makes a profit, it is distributed throughout the populace?

I have tried to study up on the different 'ism's but I am having difficulties.

So, you just described America under Capitalism

Communism advocates for the abolishment of the state/government and class

Funny joke I heard the other day...
Whats the difference between Capitalism and Socialism? In Capitalism, man exploits man. In Socialism, it's the other way around. We are all just a digit to someone....pick your system.

It works in everyday society in the western world for a lot of nations. It literally obliterated the US socially and economically in the Vietnam war. What more do you want from socialist ideologies? They exists and are part of everyday life, yes it's been abused in the past, just like any economic and political system, but to be honest capitalism seems to be the root of a lot of the worlds problems right now. Not socialist ones.

If I owned my own company and told my employees i was going to give them a pay cut so I can afford to buy a boat, what do you think would happen?
if i told my employees I would give them all a raise because profits were good, what do you think would happen?

See the difference in a capitalist world and a world where, capitalism and socialism are embraced as one?

Totally false statements.

Western countries are overwhelmingly capitalist, complete with private property rights, stock markets, etc...and PROSPEROUS.

Socialist countries are FAILURES both in prosperity and human rights.

Again, for the uneducated, this is socialism:

Socialism is a range of economic and social systems characterised by government and/or social ownership and workers' self-management of the means of production as well as the political theories and movements associated with them.

In Western countries, the means of production are NOT owned by government or "social ownership/workers"

You would still be well off under socialism. You'd probably pay more in taxes, but less for medical, education, etc.

A ideology based on greed and materialism that expects the STATE to give them everything their little hearts desire. Then never satisfied. Vote to give themselves more snip.

Every single Socialist country experience in the world in history proves your statement to be FALSE!

Incredibly, you seem to believe that someone else is better at spending peoples' OWN money than themselves. Insane.

Let's go with reality. In the real world, we have what people here like to call European style socialism, which is good, and then you have other systems that people call socialism which aren't good, like communism.

In reality, socialism just means a society where the government taxes and regulates more than in a pure capitalist system, and people pay more taxes, but they have more benefits and less exploitation and don't have to worry about being bankrupted, poisioned, oppressed, ripped off or worked to death by capitalists.

I love how all the socialists IGNORE private property rights.

Like spelled in the 14th amendment.

Socialism as described by Marx has nothing to do with property rights or equality. Marx specifically stated that state ownership was not Socialism.

Marx's Socialism was equitably not equality.

What you are talking about is modern Communism or Facism branded as Socialism. Which is really just elitists trying to force Communism on the people who they believe are too stupid to know what is best for them.

Marx presented no way to Communism except the will of the people.

We have never seen Marxists ideas even tried. But we have let Elitists change the meaning of these words and most of the masses follow along and assume that Communism and Socialism as described by Marx has already been tried and failed.

Fascism, Dictorship, Elitist Oligarchy, Monarchy, Despotism and Unregulated Capitalism have all been tried and all have failed.

Marx's ideas are so far beyond the Elitist comprehension because they don't believe in a Government "Of the people, By the people, For the People" They only believe in Elitism.

Again, false and ridiculous.
Are you deliberately misleading or that ignorant ?

Europe is Capitalist, and you can file for bankruptcy just as much in Europe as in America.

No one, in Europe or America works anyone to death. Drop the communist propaganda.

Again, try Venezuela for your socialism and the human misery there, solely caused by socialism.

No, it hasn't, because as I stated above which the majority ignore is "DICTATORSHIP" and "MONOPOLY OF POWER"

every state-socialist country has had a dictatorship and monopoly of power, that is not Communist ideology

so, basically, you just admitted that "Communism" as it was intended has never happened

You don't even understand Marx. Therefore your comment is irrelevant. You fear what you do not comprehend and you think somehow that makes you smart?
