The more Trump supporters rant and rave against Democratic Socialism, the more appealing it looks to me.
If you all are this outraged about it, it must have some good points.
Yes, we will all be equal (except the political class who will be above everyone else).
Equally broke and miserable.
And we can start that education with the anti-socialists here who rail against it daily with no sense that they are believing the propaganda established by the capitalist system .

It works in everyday society in the western world for a lot of nations. It literally obliterated the US socially and economically in the Vietnam war. What more do you want from socialist ideologies? They exists and are part of everyday life, yes it's been abused in the past, just like any economic and political system, but to be honest capitalism seems to be the root of a lot of the worlds problems right now. Not socialist ones.
If I owned my own company and told my employees i was going to give them a pay cut so I can afford to buy a boat, what do you think would happen?
if i told my employees I would give them all a raise because profits were good, what do you think would happen?
See the difference in a capitalist world and a world where, capitalism and socialism are embraced as one?
I've worked hard my whole life to be well off. What sense would I have giving some of that up?

You would still be well off under socialism. You'd probably pay more in taxes, but less for medical, education, etc.

What exactly is socialism? I understand they define it as public, collective or cooperative ownership of equity

Let's go with reality. In the real world, we have what people here like to call European style socialism, which is good, and then you have other systems that people call socialism which aren't good, like communism.

In reality, socialism just means a society where the government taxes and regulates more than in a pure capitalist system, and people pay more taxes, but they have more benefits and less exploitation and don't have to worry about being bankrupted, poisioned, oppressed, ripped off or worked to death by capitalists.

No matter how much lipstick you put on that pig.
It's still a pig.
