I see the usual suspects are all fired up and ready to go after a fresh nap and their afternoon juice and cookies.

Should be another very productive thread in the great think tank known as the mud pit.

Perhaps you hold internet forums to too high a standard.

I adjust my standards, but it seems that the new ones don't last long before they are challenged.

If Trump, and the rest of you sheep, can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. No one forced him to run.

And we should not point out his lies? Who are the snowflakes now?

They only way Trump will stop lying is if his tongue is removed.

Trump says something, then totally says the opposite, and instead of questioning it, you guys go, "of course, 3D Chess" or something lame like that.

The liar is yours. YOU take full responsibility.

Even Dan Coats is laughing at this President. And it's because Trump is a joke.

I can't see how our comments are any less or more valuable to the discussion than yours.

Unless of course, it's because they are your comments.

Good Thread, well written. I agree in total. You see, people didn't like Trump prior to him becoming POTUS. So it was real easy for those folks to just carry on. But to see the way the left has came un-hinged in total, I mean across the board, from politicians, to teachers, to Judges, etc etc.....why haven't we seen this with other GOP POTUS ? The left hated Bush but they didn't go off the deep end like this. I sum it up to him not being a dyed in the wool politician who has been sucking at the teat of the taxpayer since that first city council run....eons ago. I.E. Maxine, Hillary, Bernie Etc etc etc.

As an American this past election cycle ended me ever trusting the news media.....any of them. They all have an agenda and most of us normal folks are'nt part of that plan. It's a seperation that's been media driven since day number one. Trump is doing well, doing the things he said he was gonna do....can't say that for the last two or three that had the office. That piss's people off. A POTUS actually doing things FOR our country instead of against it. Horray for that. If Trumps thin skinned , then the left is collection of skeletons.

No, go for it. Point out every lie, misstatement, awkward moment, uncomfortable silence, because that's all it takes to make you feel better about yourself. But make sure to leave out every truth, every success, and any moment that might bode well for your enemy, because that would involve telling both sides of story, or in other words, honesty.

Yes, yes, use your words. Makes you feel powerful, doesn’t it?

That’s not the case, however. Your frothing continues only because of a deep need for catharsis, conformity, and not because it is having some effect beyond your own skull.

Considering that if I have something to say, I just say it, I don't think catharsis really factors into my posting. If I wanted to conform, I wouldn't be posting about politics on Trumpkin HQ with you and the rest of the cult. And if you're so completely convinced that words have no affect outside one's own mind, why do you waste so much time pretentiously prattling on the Internet?

Mostly because it is more fun than work, it's good practice, it helps to pass the time, and writing is a great way to exercise the thinking faculties.

Might I suggest you get out there with your pals, grab a Trump effigy and start swinging.

Have the Democrats any goals other than to attack Trump? I have been watching carefully and the party seems to be splitting into Democrats and Socialists while ranting on about Trump. The latest darling, Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, recently stopped bartending and is now barnstorming with Bernie. She neglected to mention that she is from a wealthy family and she doesn't really understand much but has studied her buzzwords carefully. She seems to be the Dems answer to Sarah Palin but is even less qualified, if one can imagine that.
Interestingly, Trump is a NY Democrat who was considered less conservative than the unfortunate Hillary during the last election.
C'mon Dems, come up with a viable platform. Think Centrist. Become the party of the working man again. Put citizens' needs before illegals, control immigration, fight terror, eliminate corruption. Rid yourselves of all Obamas, all Clintons, and the top echelons of the DNC. Unelect some of the idiots in Congress [Waters, Jackson-Lee, etc.] and replace them with new blood. Espouse principles and stick to them. Design your platform on those principles. Stop pandering to the fringe. Stop working to get illegals the vote. Stop with identity politics. Treyvon or Mohammed or Jose was not your son.

I love how non-partisan you are on here. That isn't to say you don't have opinions (don't we all) or political leanings but I like the consistent standards you apply to those opinions. Maybe non-partisan is the wrong word. For instance, you don't criticize Trump for purveying false or misleading information while giving Democrats/MSM a pass.

For what its worth, it is a standard worthy of aspiring to

It is the opposite of hypocrisy, and it does not go unnoticed (at least not by me)

He's taken the heat just fine. It seems that you're the ones that can't take the heat. You're the ones accusing him of treason over a press conference.

And we should not point out his lies?

You certainly should, but not every stupid little lie he utters. Stick to the ones that affect people, ones like: "If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor."

They only way Trump will stop lying is if his tongue is removed.

Same with about 90% of the population. Scratch that, 100%.

Trump says something, then totally says the opposite, and instead of questioning it, you guys go, "of course, 3D Chess" or something lame like that.

We're not terribly worried about his words. It's his actions we are interested in. In fact, that's kind of what this thread is about.

The liar is yours. YOU take full responsibility.

That liar has fulfilled a very respectable portion of his campaign promises. I'll accept him for that.

Even Dan Coats is laughing at this President. And it's because Trump is a joke.

It's amazing your new found love of dan coats. It's almost like you're controlled by a single opinion held by a person and that is whether they said something you wanted to hear about trump.

Here's a little piece of advice for all of you lefties. If you oppose everything a person does, they control you.

From my view it's splitting into the two factions you mentioned but they seem to have different aims.
The democrats only seem to be interested in attacking trump.
The socialists seem interested primarily in securing free # for themselves, then attacking trump.

The general symptoms in the OP are right, standards in journalism have become embarrassingly low but doesn't have anything to do with being anti-Trump. The criticism of world politics is off though, it's Trump's ownership/TrumpCorp ownership of various news outlets that are causing the real stir -

Rupert Murdoch has been advising Trump on Brexit and NATO and has been present in recent interviews Trump gave to The Times with MP Michael Gove (who Murdoch advised on Brexit and is yet again trying to get to run for PM); proprietor battles and acquisitions of media are constantly ongoing and a major part of bias.

The secondary cause is cuts in the staffroom, commodification of news, old journalists being replaced by unpaid interns who have no black book of sources or have eve'err walked a beat to get a true sense of the area they're covering outside a newsroom.

The public aren't interested in real politics because it's very boring - hasn't been done for 20 years or so apart from the rare likes of Fisk, Curtis, Pilger etc..Why spend £25,000+ covering a story when Trump is as regular as clockwork posting false info, spelling errors, putting his foot in his mouth and someone can write copy in five minutes without leaving the newsrooom?

There's also the whole 'just because it happened doesn't mean it's news' principle in the newsroom that's been around 180 years - Trump declares his own style as 'modern Presidential', he's unlike previous politicians, presidents or heads of state as he doesn't follow politics, has no experience in the field or any of the usual conventions.

The US public (rightly after Obama's False Hope failure IMO) elected him because he doesn't follow convention and doesn't present himself as a politician: It's never happened before so obviously it's going to be reported on.
