Social Security is paid for by everyone that works and that has worked.

It's not welfare. It's prepaid.

It's a tax, 12.4%... Which I won't see the full amount from. Some people get more, most people get less.

You could just forget the missing trillions and just look at the numbers spend on defense, that's still crazy.
$700 billion/year.

Especially knowing the US itself is very safe. Although you could argue with all those foreign meddling (starting wars, arming and funding rebels (just terrorists basically), coups, all those US bases worldwide and so on, well maybe the US isn't that well defended at home but worldwide at least pretty powerful sure. Still the change some country starting a war against the US is just very very small.
And when looking back in history well I guess Pearl Harbor, that's about it that a foreign nation attacked US soil (although mostly just US water
).

Also when looking at how many people are living on the streets / living in poverty, and the propaganda is just basically; just their own fault really.

Anyways when the US for years and years have their debt increased (only the federal government (not the states included) with 1000 billion / year but still increases spending on defense each year.. That's just kinda odd and stupid IMO.
So from that 1000 billion year they spend more then the government has, 700 billion/year is spending on defense, that's JUST CRAZY but yes you hardly hear anyone complain over that but they for sure get angry about for example food stamps spending!? Spending on the most needy = blood pressure going up! US citizens really care about their own people it seems!
NOT!

700 billion/year on defense!!! common it's madness! Although sure, selling weapons worldwide is a pretty ''good'' business, one of the only one left good exports today in the US.. but for sure the US isn't making the world a safer place worldwide with all that spending on 'defense', a better naming is just war spending really. And well of course when you spend so much on 'defense' with money they don't really have, US citizens all gonna suffer for it at home! Or worse the US government just goes bankrupt, why do you think Trump is starting these trade wars, the US is broke! Sure the moment is still no there for being really broke meaning, there can't be spending on anything, but for sure all that spending on ''war'' is bringing/brought the US to her knees and soon can't stand up at all again. This isn't a wish from me but if you can't see this, you must be blind!
It isn't ''TRUMP'' with the actions the US does now, it just shows how broke the USA is today! But sure Trump is the president but not really in control what the US does, at all, just a figure people can be happy or mad about. Just the same with the previous presidents for a long long time.

It is welfare when the amount you withdraw is not covered by the amount you put into the system. I don't get what is so hard to about this concept to understand.

The benefits granted far exceed the amounts contributed for most people. That surplus is paid by those of us who don't get an equitable return for the amount that we actually contributed.

You accumulate credits based on your earnings. In 2016, you get one credit for every $1,260 you earn (that figure is adjusted higher each year), up to a limit of four credits per year. These credits remain on your record even if you change jobs or stop working for a while. If you were born after 1929, you need 40 credits in order to receive Social Security retirement benefits.

Yea, a lot of people aren't getting close to what they put in.

I wonder how much of that spending went to ousting the legitimate government in the Ukraine, and other countries.

So to those that are against welfare programs but also think SS is a welfare program, does this mean that you'll not accept it when you retire?

I'm sure enough to feed many a hungry people here. Fuzzy math gets trillions lost. I remember the mention of spending 25 million to build a gas station in Iraq. Ya think Cheneyburton...I'm mean Haliburton might have some of it.

Again, where is trumpcare??? He had a "much, much better plan, than failing Obamacare" I don't even need to Bring his treason up.

Man, people are having trouble with definitions today. Words don't mean what you want them to mean. Just because you didn't like the summit doesn't make it this countries highest crime.

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
Article 3 Section 3 of the Constitution.

Nice use of buzz words though.

What does that have to do with the price of tea in CHINA....I asked where is TRUMPCARE...the plan he said HE ALREADY HAD??? HE SAID HE HAD A "MUCH MUCH BETTER PLAN THAN FAILING OBAMA CARE" AND THIS IS WHAT YOU COME UP WITH?

Military spending is a line item responsibility of the federal government per the constitution.

The rest is not, meaning that it really should be a state issue per the constitution.

Care to argue?

It's not about which spends more and how much (at least it shouldn't be), it's about what should or shouldn't be the responsibility of the federal government.

Welfare spending, along with most discretionary spending, should not be done at the federal level.

As for Social Security, the name in and of itself is a reference to socialist ideals--but I wouldn't call it welfare, as it's forced theft by the government who then mismanages your money and doesn't update a system regularly to stop its impending implosion, knowing full well that if we were able to invest that money outside of the government, we would all have a better retirement if properly managed.

What's the over/under on it even being a viable system in 27 years?

Why would I not accept social security if I've paid into it? The money is owed to me regardless of I disagree with the program or not.

A pacifist should not be forced to pay taxes for illegal warfare against countries like Iraq that resulted in the deaths of over 450,000 children under the age of 4yo. It goes against the moral fibre of anyone that values life more so than the egotistic mindset that today rules society.

Its no different than giving a pacifist a gun and forcing them to shoot your children.

But its pointless arguing this point with people that have had their hearts poisoned by hatred. They cannot see light in all that darkness.

I would call that a bit short sided. There were many people at or near retirement who saw their 401K go up in smoke when the housing bubble crashed the market.

Which recovered, and then some.

.

Noones 401k would be where it is today if it were not for QE and bail outs by the government.
Propping up the financial sector is welfare also.

"welfare sucking libtards".

Grow up. And while you're at it, try to grow a brain, because you seem to be operating only on the stem, which typically only allows for breathing, swallowing and other such basic body functions. It doesn't allow for higher thinking, reasoning ability and such.

Last time I checked, Russia is NOT OUR FRIEND..I was just talking about tRUMPCARE....The plan he said he had that was "much, much better than failing Obama care"

So you want to talk about treason? First of all, trump said over and over, Obama did "NOTHING" about the meddeling, when in fact the only time the RED PHONE was ever used, the entire time Obama was in Office, was because of RUSSIAN MEDDELING. That is a treasonous, LIE ON TRUMPS PART....

Accusing the POTUS FALSELY....About A foreign, enemy, about doing "NOTHING" about an ATTACK!

What else? How about siding, with an ENEMY, Over our U.S. AGENCIES. BTW, he has done this OVER AND OVER, with the Muller investigation.....CALLING IT A WITCH HUNT...NEVER ONCE SAYING THAT MULLER HAS DONE A GOOD JOB, FINDING OUT WHAT RUSSIA HAS DONE, AND IS DOING. THEN TO TOP IT OFF, HE SAYS THERE IS NO REASON HE WOULD THINK RUSSIA WOULD DO SUCH A THING...

TO TOP ALL OF THAT OFF, PUTIN SMUGLY SAYS HE WANTED TRUMP TO WIN!

IF THIS WERE OBAMA, YOU WOULD BE SAYING HE NEEDS TO BE IMPEACHED FOR THE SAKE OF OUR COUNTRY!!!! HYPOCRISY RULES WITH YOU PEOPLE.

getting rid of the social safety net would end up with rising wages because people at the lower end of the spectrum working crappy jobs part time and collecting welfare would have to find better jobs and the crappy jobs they were working would have to offer full time employment and raise wages

Wow, really let one off there.

1. I'm not "you people". Also never called for Obamas impeachment, nor would I have for talking to a foreign leader.

2. Health care is screwed, Trump's 2 years in, doubt he'll fix it.

3. He didn't commit treason just because you think he didn't speak well at the summit. (treason actually has a part defining it in the constitution, I showed you that, this isn't it.)

4. Yes, Russia is not our friend, but we are not at war with them.

5. Until we see evidence other than propaganda they did not attack us, that's just what countries do. That said, we're more susceptible to that because we have free speech, it's one of the "downsides". You have to be educated and know what information you're consuming.

6. Calm down, it's not like life as an American is to much different right now. Every time the extremists flip out, life goes on and a few days or weeks later it's a different news cycle with new "outrage".

You're taking all this too seriously, when in reality it's all being exaggerated as always so that the news gets its ratings.
