This is mainly for fellow Europeans.

Okay. Spain, Italy, Greece, hot countries. Always have been. Not surprising that you're going to bake in the summer.

But even Britain gets covered in this blanket of hot, suffocating air at this time of year. British summers are much MUCH hotter than they were pre, say, 1995. Clearly evidence of global warming at work.

And, because northern Europe is not traditionally regarded as a hot part of the world, we are behind the curve on air conditioning.

Crazy, but I am actually considering relocating to some windswept Hebridean island because I don't think I can take another summer like this, which is becoming the norm.

I'm sick of languishing in my gaff in just undies, sweating my bollocks off...then expected to put on a uniform and go to work.

Actually, 1995 was the hottest summer I can remember.

In my memories it was the Summer of love but it was also the Summer I passed out due to sunstroke.

I love that you used '95 as an example.

Eta: Until this year since 1995, Brits have been whinging and whining that they've not had a summer. Every f#cking year.

Karma's a bitch.

Go buy an AC, drink ice water, go out and detox yourself, you should live where I do, we get heat index's of 110 degrees F and Negative 10 degrees F between summer and winter... that's 41C to -23 C
Suck it up butter cup!

The Chinese are burning too much coal so they can make cheap products with slave labor.

That's ok, they're making cheap air conditioners.

I don't know about xBWOMPx but we can get to 100 in the summer and 10 below in the winter.
All perfectly normal.

We've been breaking all kind of heat records here, the last few weeks it's been mid-high 30s before humidity, 45+ after.

I hear you.

+30c weathers in Finland, been that way for many days now. Might not sound much to many of you (86 fahrenheit or a bit over that) but from a Finnish viewpoint this is quite rough. Literally not cool.

And Western consumers gobble them all up happily!

The hottest period occurred between June 23, 1976 and July 7, when for 15 consecutive days the temperature topped 32C (90F) every day at one or more stations in England. It was during this period that the UK's all-time June temperature record was set, with a high of 35.6C recorded in Southampton on the June 28, 1976.

Think it's called summer.
