President Bush, speaking to EU leaders in Brussels, has announced that a lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians is "our immediate goal". The meeting is part of Bush's wider European tour aimed at mending the Trans-Atlantic relationship.
US President George W Bush has told European leaders that peace in the Middle East is "our immediate goal".

Mr Bush said the world should not rest until there was a lasting resolution to the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

His remarks came in a speech in Brussels aimed at ending a transatlantic rift over the Iraq war

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

This is clearly meant to undercut claims from Europeans that Bush is a "warmonger". Due to major advancements and concessions from Israelis in the past couple of weeks its likely to carry more weight than it would normally prior to Arafats death.

Whether or not Bush intends to devote his time to creating a lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians is neither here nor there now that he has publicly stated to the EU that it is a priority.

If the process fails, due to American apathy or otherwise, Bush will lose even more credibility in Europe which is not an option for the US.

Its good news.

"I'm a war president." - G.W. Bush

Anybody remember that? Can there be any doubt as to his status?

It's patently obvious to me that he was brought in temporarily to get some distasteful stuff done, and when his usefullness is at an end, they'll expose him, kill him, or fade him away.

He's Temporary, remember.

It doesn't matter how many bible belt knuckleheads chant "four more years, four more years.." He's not a king, he's not an emperor, he's a failed businessman with an impressive rolodex and an influential father.

Ive always felt that Cheney was Bush's puppet master. Pulling the strings so that dirty work is carried out under Bush's presidency and not harming his election prospects in 2008.

He's a subtle character and you cant be subtle when your aim is to bring down atleast 2 foreign governments and secure oil/natural gas contracts in both of them.

In the eyes of the US voters his hands are clean because they are not seen.

What can we expect under a Cheney Presidency? The solidification of Corporate rule on a World wide scale. Corporate news isnt "sexy" it wont generate "News Flashes". He'll be the all smiling, soothsaying pickpocket of the World.
